Thanks Decam actually they're being pretty reasonable. We have to pay three months back before April and the rest before end of the next tax year phew.

So have just been for my denim appointment at Selfridges which was great. I'm two sizes smaller than I thought - hurrah! But the ones that I loved were the Paige Hoxton high-rise skinnies which are over £200. Have put them on hold til Thursday & am thinking if I don't like either of the Matches dresses and my husband never sees my credit card I can maybe buy them.

I also tried on the Marrakesh skinny flares which are lovely but only come in 34" length and since I am knee-high to a grasshopper, drowned me. Still the guy said there are loads of flares in for SS14 including leather and red velvet.

Decameron · 28/01/2014 14:28

I have Paige Hoxtons, wearing them now, great jeans. Have you checked the price on Shopbop or Revolve now that you know your size?

Stokey · 28/01/2014 14:49

Just checked Decam - they only have the high-rise ones in 23 or 25 - didn't get downgraded that much - on Shopbop and these ones on Revolve which are a bit dark.
These were the ones I wanted.

Stokey · 28/01/2014 14:59

Good to know they come recommended though as I'm going to break the bank!

Fedupnagging · 28/01/2014 16:06

It's reassuring to hear a lot of you saying you are not massively fashionable - I tend to wear what suits me with a nod to the latest fashion. Love looking at what everyone else is wearing though.

Fashion that I have not embraced - there is lots! Biker boots - am short and they don't look right. Peep toe boots, wedge trainers, tea dresses, skater skirts. I could go on!

Stokey, love the dress you pinned yesterday. Also really like the yellow rockstud and love the grey Burberry Decameron posted.

Shop am just back from physio too. Hope you are not in too much pain. I always feel really tired afterwards.

Annianni · 28/01/2014 16:50

J Brand boyfriends arrived earlier.
I love the denim, colour etc.
Undecided whether to keep them or not though.
Not sure if they make me look a bit stumpy Hmm

May do photos in the morning and you can all decide for me :o

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/01/2014 16:54

Hi all

Stokey glad the denim appt was fun, lovely to find a go-to style. But... leather and velvet flares?! Sounds a bit out of my comfort zone.

The main trend I haven't tried is peplums. I think they would really suit me, but I never took the plunge as I was always paranoid they would date very very quickly. In the end of course they have ended up being around for a few seasons, but I think it's almost definitely too late now!

Also haven't tried cocoon coats, plaid, biker boots... not sure if any of them are really me.

Having said that I keep returning to the idea of the HoC style day. Has anyone done it yet? Hoping Amber will report back on how useful it is :)

MarshaBrady · 28/01/2014 17:20

I haven't Blair but there's a few around who have done it.

Love those Paige Stokey.

Dh has lost a stone recently (he's not that big but is reducing the tum) and I'm laughing that they do cake at work and bring him a cheese board. Actually it's pretty nice of them!

MarshaBrady · 28/01/2014 17:21

Barbie and Santa hope is all ok? Who else...

shopafrolic · 28/01/2014 17:50

Happy Birthday MrMarsha cheese board sounds ace.

AmberNectarine · 28/01/2014 18:09

Of course I will Blair - I'm doing it on Sat, so expect a full debrief! I have to take three items from my wardrobe I love and three that don't work. Is surprisingly hard to find the ones that don't work!

Drywhiteplease · 28/01/2014 18:12

Marsha a cheese board?Shock how wonderful.

Right, trends I haven't embraced:

Uggs
Crocs (a trend?)
black biker jacket and boots ......too edgy/butch/rock chic
Flares....never
Oversized anything....why would I want to make myself look bigger?Hmm
Birkenstocks I'm going to get flamed
Wedge trainers
Neon
Coated skinnies....but I'm not ruling them out as I quite like them knowing me I'll get into them when they're out of fashion
Cropped anything
CULOTTES did them with APLOMB the first time

Shop it's a toughie. That work/life balance stuff is hard. Move up here....property is marginally cheaper and the state schools are brilliant! and we could shop and do lunch with wineGrin

Umlauf · 28/01/2014 18:13

Sounds like it'll be a lot of fun amber which items are you going to take?!

I need to spend less of my day in pjs, for the second time this week I've been asked to do last minute supply lessons. As in, can you be at school in 15 mins with an entire lesson ready and dressed/made up, baby fed and in childcare?! Erm... That'll be a no?! Sorry, little rant!

Have ordered navy Sam edelman Gigi's Smile in hope of coaxing some warmer weather in.

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 18:26

Hello all -

I wouldn't consider myself on trend or majorly fashionable as such. I know what suits and if it doesn't I walk away no matter how ubiquitous it is marketed as.

What have I walked away from?

Flares
The Prada black nylon backpack 90's thing
Major trainers - Gazelles or Converse are about it and old skool Kangas.
Niche denim - Indigo for me, straight or cigarette
Patterned denim or patchwork. No no no on me.
Very short skirts - not now.
Bodycon. No, too self conscious, don't like to show too much flesh or contour. Too 80's- been there, done that.

Full on Frilly Hippy - not me, too short.
Full on Boho - not as an adult. Again too fussy on me.
Office neat - doesn't suit me. I never look pulled together when i 'try' to look pulled together
High high platforms - not on me. I Like a heel but not those daft Loub clodhopper platforms
Pleat front pants / dropped crotch pants - not for me.
Those Roland Mouret Galaxy style dresses - I look like I am playing dress up in them. Far too self conscious of myself to wear them.
Serial Killer thigh boots - no no no
Spike heel boots - again, not me.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/01/2014 18:30

Happy birthday MrM :)

Love the list dry your crossings out are so funny!

Amber as a reader of your blog I wonder how you'll narrow it down to 3 favourite things, maybe just take a suitcase? Wink

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/01/2014 18:32

Good list mig, you obviously know yourself really well. Am jealous as so much of it is still trial and error here Grin

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 18:35

I am old and worn Blair. It took me a while. There is always that tension though between knowing what suits you and falling into a rut though Confused

MarshaBrady · 28/01/2014 18:35

It didn't actually occur to me that's why they were doing the cheese board. I thought it was just an off thing Blush. Really must pay attention.

I think I still need more jumpers. Never ending!

Drywhiteplease · 28/01/2014 18:52

Ooooh but things I love that some of you hate;

Peplums love a nipped in waist
Tea dresses
R Mouret style dresses mig what I like doesn't actually equate to my lifestyle Sad if I were a powerful corporate lady who looses jewellery I'd wear them all the timeWink
Office neat you all know I love to match

Stokey the denim day sounds amazing.

Just opened my first bottle chilled dry white in 27 days! not counting the 2 glasses of fizz on Saturday as I didn't actually open the bottle, it was poured for me heaven.

Amber I'll be interested to see what you think of your style day. You seem to have such a strong sense of your own style, I'm wondering what they will change.

Umlauf · 28/01/2014 18:54

It could make a good MNV question.

Which 3 favourite things would YOU take, and which 3 things that don't work??

I might hazard a guess that a pencil skirt will be in ambers suitcase... Perhaps a t by Alexander wang one???! Or McQ? I read your blog lots!

MarshaBrady · 28/01/2014 18:59

Good question Umlauf! Ok going to ponder while I make dinner.

Now going to ponder and browse my wardrobe on pin to answer Umlauf's question.
