How do you not look tarty or frumpy if you have big boobs..?

I'm a 34g and find it an absolute nightmare ( and v time consuming ) to find clothes that either don't make me look bigger than I am or make me look top heavy. I think Bravissimo is great but I am sooo disappointed in Pepperberry, I think their clothes are overpriced, frumpy and often just bigger versions of clothes in normal stores, ie styles that are for smaller busts that are unflattering to bigger ones and often cut v high under the bust thus emphasising them. Wrong! I suit styles that are more long and flowing and that skim the bust ( long, floaty skirts and waterfall cardigans etc to balance my top half) but they are hard to find and not v fashionable...

How do you cope with/ dress yours?

People with little bust say, oh you're so lucky but I have literally spent a day going round the shops and found nothing and come back depressed and wanting a boob reduction!

hm I haven't ordered any jersey - probably depends on how tight you want it to be?

Fab links missinglalaland, thank you for posting those. I used to make clothes years ago and then got put off because I couldn't find decent fabrics.

My size varies between an F (on a very good day) and a GG depending on weight and whether I am pg or post natal.

Now I can usually tell by looking at something if it is worth trying on or not. Stuff that has no shape does not work, I'm better with tailored things. Buying work clothes was easy, I used to buy a really well cut suit and a smart fitted shirt.

I only buy tops that have a fitted sleeve, raglan sleeves never look good on me, they look especially awful when the item is a coat or jacket. I also try not to buy tops that have sleeves that end at my boob height, they make me look wide.

A decent bra is half the battle imo, I find fantasie frumpy, Freya and Empreinte bras get them up where they used to be 20 years ago I think they should be. I think getting as much distance between you boobs and your waist helps reduce the frumpy look (just not under the chin high obviously).

Thanks eleventeen. Smile.
I agree, achieving waist definition helps a lot. It helps us "pears" too.

Cam I add Cleo and Ewa Michalak to brands of bras which really do give great lift!

I'd add KrisLine as well.. Some of the bravissimo own brand bras are good too.

I love a bit of KrisLine on-line shopping. The photos are a bit ummm-glamour model-esque!

He was reducing them and going "oh go on, how much do you want to pay?!" as I said they weren't cheap enough. I said £1 and he marked both down to 50p Shock

Has anyone mentioned //www.saintbustier.com ? haven't bought anything from there myself but often browse and lust after various pieces. I think I found it through Lauren Laverne's column.

For causal dressing I would add layering. A thin, long length vest, that shows no cleavage - under deep scoop/v neck tops. It elongates the body. Works for me.

Tunic tops with taylored trousers or good quality jeggings/skinny jeans.

Dressing all in black or dark navy which most of us probably do already?!

Haha

I used to wear black and navy until I got my colours done, was told I was an Autumn and those colours were completely wrong for me. I wore dark colours to hide my bust but now I wear gorgeous turquoise, emerald, jade, brown and love it!

Dark colours can just make you look like a sack and hide your natural beauty. A good bra and the right style for your shape is much more flattering I find...

Oh, that's nice. I'm determined not to buy anything until after my style day on the 25th. I might just ask to be notified when it's back in stock though Grin

Sorrel and Scarlet you may be in.luck! I ordered the Blossom dress in bronze but have decided its not for me so will be returning it instead. The top half was great but the bottom.half was uber tight and as I am a bit lumpy and bumpy in.that area I found it unflattering. Going to try the Shard one instead....

Well, it would be a shame not to Sorrel...it's very pretty!
