How do you not look tarty or frumpy if you have big boobs..?

I'm a 34g and find it an absolute nightmare ( and v time consuming ) to find clothes that either don't make me look bigger than I am or make me look top heavy. I think Bravissimo is great but I am sooo disappointed in Pepperberry, I think their clothes are overpriced, frumpy and often just bigger versions of clothes in normal stores, ie styles that are for smaller busts that are unflattering to bigger ones and often cut v high under the bust thus emphasising them. Wrong! I suit styles that are more long and flowing and that skim the bust ( long, floaty skirts and waterfall cardigans etc to balance my top half) but they are hard to find and not v fashionable...

How do you cope with/ dress yours?

People with little bust say, oh you're so lucky but I have literally spent a day going round the shops and found nothing and come back depressed and wanting a boob reduction!

I'm trying to remember what I wear on holiday, Singapore. I know I'm conscious of my boobage in hot weather.

I have a few dresses which I've gradually accumulated (not easy to find, as you know). Little short-sleeved blouses I like, with top buttons open, or I wear them like a cardigan if more fitted - more open ove a vest.
I know a TV character wardrobe I like - the wonan in Death in Paradise. She's not booby but wears beautiful clothes I think - I'd look at her for inspiration and adjust a bit to allow for your own shape.

Vesta, do you mind if I ask how heavy you are? It's just that, with the correct way of measuring, 34 is quite a large back size. Have a look for the 'bra intervention' threads about how to measure; sorry if you already know this, but if you're wearing too big a back size you won't be getting adequate support, which doesn't help your self-image at all.

Vesta - I was going to suggest you point your sister to the bra intervention threads. Hardly anyone is actually a 32a. It's pretty much a size invented by M&S Smile

ocelot my order arrived and I have spent the morning twirling in front of the mirror.

I ordered a few things in the hope one would be OK, but actually everything fits really well and everything is very flattering - which NEVER happens for me - I usually have to try 10 things to find one thing that's actually alright.

I can't afford (and don't need) to keep them all though so it's decision time.

I think this is a keeper. It fits beautifully and just skims everywhere it should. You can actually see that I have a waist! It's also really really comfortable and I don't feel like I'll be worrying about whether or not everything's in place, or if I'm exposing too much cleavage. It just sits where it's supposed to!

I can't decide whether or not to keep this. It's the same style as the other one, but in a jersey fabric which is much clingier. I'm not sure I'd feel appropriate to wear it for work as it really does cling to every curve, but it is really nice.... I don't usually wear black/dark colours as they can be a bit draining on me, so maybe I'll see if they do something similar in different colours for spring/summer. Undecided on that one.

I also tried this, which was nice and fit well and any other time I probably would have bought it but I just preferred the others.

And I tried this from Baukjen, which again was nice but just not as nice or comfortable as the first one. (I can't seem to get on very well with wrap dresses - I always feel as though I have one boob sticking out really obviously where the wrap falls!).

Ah yes colours are another issue - I'm a summer, so should be wearing pastels. I agree with that, look best in soft blue and pink - but there's a fine line between wearing colours good for my complexion and looking like a giant (top-heavy) cupcake. Grin

For workwear, I have this shirt biubiu.pl/en/duplicate-1-140.html - very happy with it, just wish the did it in non-iron fabric. And also, buttons - why doesn't anybody do shirts with zippers? I used to have one that was a normal high street shirt, but as it was with a zipper and slight stretch, I could wear it just fine, as there was no gaping like with buttons.

Ooh LOVING the first one cakeaddict! I think it looks really unusual and SUCH a gorgeous colour. Twirl away I say!

Also glad you say the BiuBiu shirt is good Hazlenutt as I had been humming and hawing about the olive one. I might wait until spring and order a couple of things (I am a soft autumn so alas also have to leave the beautiful vibrants to others, unless its a burnt orange which I can get away with!)

Meanwhile I have put in an order with DD Atelier but I have just found out that they use Russia Post which has a truly dreadful reputation so let's see how long it takes!

God I just hate wearing shirts! I think they look frumpy and unflattering. Can only wear ones that are soft material, fitted with tiny colours. Much prefer a lower cut smart teeshirt with a fitted cardi or jacket over the top.

When I had my colours style done i was told I was a Romantic Ingenue ( which I interpreted as a kind of medieval Elizabeth Taylor, sounds weird but works for me )
The downside of this archetype I was told, is that I can easily look like a Traffic Warden! ( true...)

Romantic Ingenue sounds amazing! I'd imagine someone like Helena Bonham Carter?
I was told something about uniform-wearing as well; think it was that I can easily look too 'posh' or stand-offish in one (I'm a Classic Ingenue). It explains a lot about my schooldays. . .
I know what you mean about shirts - I can't wear anything with a pointy collar, or anything grandad style, but a Peter Pan collar with puffed sleeves feels just right for me (would be even better if I didn't have to open the top fecking buttons).

That Saint Bustier website looks amazeballs. I think I could spend a small fortune on it.

I was thinking the same HazleNutt. I have gone off it but do love the red dress I put on the previous post.

I am fairly sure that's a Ronen Chen dress because it comes in red and navy (I linked to the navy one in mg rave about how flattering RC clothes are at the beginning of this thread). If so, don't let the pleats out you off - RC is a genius who knows how to cut for ladies with boobs! At least try it and see? The only thing that put me off was that the red is a v Christmassy red which I thought would wash me out ....

Oops sorry, you were talking about the pleated green top, not the red dress. That'll teach me not to post on my smartphone on a crowded commuter train!
