How do you not look tarty or frumpy if you have big boobs..?

I'm a 34g and find it an absolute nightmare ( and v time consuming ) to find clothes that either don't make me look bigger than I am or make me look top heavy. I think Bravissimo is great but I am sooo disappointed in Pepperberry, I think their clothes are overpriced, frumpy and often just bigger versions of clothes in normal stores, ie styles that are for smaller busts that are unflattering to bigger ones and often cut v high under the bust thus emphasising them. Wrong! I suit styles that are more long and flowing and that skim the bust ( long, floaty skirts and waterfall cardigans etc to balance my top half) but they are hard to find and not v fashionable...

How do you cope with/ dress yours?

People with little bust say, oh you're so lucky but I have literally spent a day going round the shops and found nothing and come back depressed and wanting a boob reduction!

Another BiuBiu fan here. Even with the postage it's a bargain. So much nicer than Pepperberry.

Spotted this thread a week ago and have had it in my watched threads the whole time waiting to get a chance to read it! Some brilliant suggestions. :) Just need now to read it on the lap top rather than my phone so I can see the pictures properly.

Your experience with a personal shopper sounds very much like mine so i can sympathise.

I have a link to a blog which explains how to adapt patterns for larger cup sizes which i'll try and link to when i get home.

I'm currently wearing 30H and size 8/10 on the bottom so the stripper look is something i can easily veer into if not careful.

Thanks for starting this thread. There have been some great suggestions of places I'd never heard of. I'm 32G / size 14 and need something smart for a work event coming up. I've just ordered a couple of things to try from the St Bustier site having seen it recommended here. Fingers crossed!

Marking my place-I love Freya bras & had a good bravissimo once. Am an autumn HoC also & tight budget, along with a lot of post baby weight to lose :(. There are a couple of things on the biubiu that might be good. Krisline I haven't heard of but oh my the glamour shots are quite remarkable!

I agree with the layering & low tops with Cami or vest below. I used to think a bit of bra lace looked nice showing but tend not to now-feel a bit old for that! I'd also recommend the hoc style day although most people on this thread seem to know already what suits them.

I think I should give up on jeans but I just don't know what else I would wear instead. 2 kids, pretty lazy but a lot of running around to do & not munch dressing up, so what is left? I'd like to find some good palazzo pants but any I've found are too short on the leg.

Thanks for the tips & keep the advice coming :)

What have you got on order cakeaddict? I have just got this dress www.saintbustier.com/geometric-print-shard-dress.html after the advice on this thread and its GORGEOUS! Finally I look glam and curvy rather than lumpy and dumpy. Dead chuffed.

Still to solve the casual thing though - what do people do if they don't do jeans or (shudder) leggings?

Also found Dig For Victory who do tailormade tea dresses/swing dresses in vintage fabrics with a sweetheart neckline which should look good on our shape for summer. Don't like all the fabrics/styles but some are v wearable (gets ready to channel Doris Day)...

Ooh I had my eye on that ocelot41 but I've never ordered from them before. What's the sizing like?

AllinafankleI'm a 12/14, rather than a 10/12 and found that dress was in a 12 on me. Not too long on skirt or arms either (am 5 ft 5). Plenty room for norkage too and I', a 30 or 32 F/G! It is from Ingenue who I had never heard of before but they're other stuff is nice and boob-friendly (and online too ladies!)

But I ordered the Blossom dress in Bronze too but skirt vvvvv tight so sent back - that was a different firm. I think what they do is collect clothes from lots of different companies so maybe dress sizes won't always be wholly reliable.

I think you're right Ocelot - I think they gather up stuff from all different companies and suppliers that is boob friendly so sizing will vary

Scarlet, that dress screams "underwear nightmare" to me! Pretty though.

I was a 32g pre pregnancy, and used to use jewellery to create a v neck effect in otherwise unflattering necklines. Something like this m.topshop.com/mt/www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/bags-accessories-1702216/jewellery-469/necklaces-672/multicoloured-flower-necklace-2594428?bi=1&ps=24 could make something like this m.topshop.com/mt/www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/dresses-442/rib-trim-midi-dress-2583554?bi=1&ps=24 much more wearable.

I'm breastfeeding at the mo (oh the joys of accessible scaffolding!) and have found some nice tops in White Stuff that are both flattering and suitable for bf in public, and have just bought this from Phase Eight. I was impressed with their shapes: m.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/phase-eight/Sale-Tops/Tree-Print-Wrap-Top/301436962 - it's a more open wrap shape on me but is cut really nicely.

32FF here.

Block colours - tend to avoid patterns on top.

Most stuff I buy is very fitted, even jumpers. I buy the smallest size that looks okay (not a label thing, but I need things to either fit or skim my waist, not bag around it).

V & scoop neck tops are great. High round necks are awful. I spend more money than most on t-shirts to buy ones with a great neckline.

Slash necks can look surprisingly good and I have some lovely drapey Michael Kors stuff in Jersey (think Issa on a budget) that detracts from the extreme boobage.

Basically I don't try to hide my big boobs. They are obvious in my work clothes, but those clothes are also very, very decent - just fitted.

30G here.

I have got a bra that I brought about 12 years ago that I absolutely love and havn't found anything similar since.

It is pretty ugly but has got a fairly "pointed" shape, which looks great underneath clothes. Does anyone know where I could get something similar in my size?

Even if they are pricey, that wouldn't put me off if I think they will serve me well for a few years.

How pointy? many people find the bravissimo alana and dotty spot give a wearable retro shape. For full fifties pointy try what Katie Did

Dixiejo, there are several blogs about bras around; I found Bras I Hate and Love, possibly from this thread, and Boobius Maximus, which describe the different bras styles in detail and might lead you to the style you're after.
Have to admit I haven't read much of them yet as there's a lot of info and it's all a bit overwhelming --and It's easier to idle away time on MN Blush.
But they might be a good starting point.

I don't like wearing v neck/scoop neck tops all the time. It isn't my style so I do wear high necks but keep them plain in a block colour (preferable dark) and have fun with skirts - patterns, ruffles, swing skirts , pencils etc. my legs are best assets so like to show off. also big statement jewelry over a plain highneck plain top breaks it up if you are scared it looks a bit shelf like.

I just want a breast reduction and lift now I'm in late 40's. I'm 34 FF and 5ft 6, was quite happy with my boobs until having children. Am so envious of my sis - age 40, 32A boobs but the look so pert still and with a good bra her she has a neat little bust I'm v jealous off. She's had 2 kids too .

I get fed up having to stick to fitted tops with scoop and v necks....I think it's possibly less frustrating for classic dressers but I am anything but classic, my wardrobe is 90% casual and my body shape - hourglass, makes dressing a real challenge, I can very easily look like a sack of spuds. Losing weight helps me look better in clothes but not naked. I usually end up trying on at least 10 things for every one thing I buy.

My casual wardrobe is very similar to Hush it consists of knitted wool dresses, cashmere v neck jumpers, scarves, neater fitting loose fit t shirts which I semi tuck, check shirts, jersey tube skirts, skinny jeans, harems and boots - heeled, biker, Chelsea, long - I love boots. I need a cardigan but just can't find something that sings to me - my knitwear must be wool....I need the warmth.
Just bought a white maxi skirt from Jigsaw in the sale - it's fitted around my hips and then quite flared, it will show off my slim waist and work with my bigger hips and generous thighs, I'll wear this with a fitted vest and a biker jacket - when it's warmer of course. Found a t shirt, round necked but has a panel of silk overlayed down the front which help to break it up - normally I stay clear of silky, shiny fabrics - they draw attention to jiggly boobs bouncing as you walk, in fact I often do a jiggle test on tops.

Really struggling to find clothes that fit and suit a tropical climate.

I'm 39-29-39 and have a wardrobe that just makes me look huge. I'm 23 and find all the styles that suit my figure are just too old for my age.

Any tips?
