A safe place to talk fashion stuff. Bring a passion for fashion (high end or high street), a positive state of mind and lots of links.

To cheer myself up I've just ordered [[http://www.asos.com/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3519999 this]. I've worn my Stars and Stripes so much, think I may get a lot of wear out of this (same style and fabric mix) Grumpy and sleep think you got the S and S.

Drywhiteplease · 06/01/2014 08:17

this jumper

Drywhiteplease · 06/01/2014 08:19

I may have just failed my first NY resolution!

BrandyAlexander · 06/01/2014 09:27

Oh that's very nice Dry. Sadly my torso too short to do it justice (bt like your Stars and Stripes).

Barbie you poor thing, having seen how much the dcs and dh have suffered, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Get well soon Thanks

Don't read on if you're having breakfast or have a weak constitution......So having had no one in chez novice vomit yesterday, ds woke up in the middle of the night with a high fever saying belly button hurt. Gave him calpol and after 10 mins he vomited his entire days worth of food all over poor dh. We have given our nanny the day off so she doesn't catch it too, so I am at home with 3 unwell people, builders wanting teas etc and an important work deadline today....happy new year me!Shock

shopafrolic · 06/01/2014 09:32

Dry put the wine glass down - it's too early.
Novice poor you! I hope everyone gets better soon.

BrandyAlexander · 06/01/2014 09:49

Lol Shop! I hope Dry meant shopping! Wink

Just found out that one of our audio visual folks has had noro over the weekend. We went over to the house so he came into contact with dh and ds briefly, before they got sick.

shopafrolic · 06/01/2014 09:50

Put a red cross on your front door and don't come out until it's over Novice Grin Your builders must be scared! Right - on with the Dubarry's. Off to walk the remaining little doggy.

OP posts:
santamarianovella · 06/01/2014 10:07

dry its a beautiful sweater, have a great work day today !

We are on our way to see the orthopedist for DD, getting very nervous,

Barbie1 · 06/01/2014 10:23

santa I have everything crossed that a simple explain explanation will be given for your dd aches and pains.

RubyLovesShopping · 06/01/2014 10:24

Atterley Road order oh where are you??

BecauseIsaidS0 · 06/01/2014 10:41

Noro is the pits. I had it on Boxing Day and gave it to my parents.

shopafrolic · 06/01/2014 10:55

Santa good luck today
Novice what decisions have been made about bags?

OP posts:
Decameron · 06/01/2014 10:59

Get well soon, Barbie and little Novices.

Hope your DD is ok, Santa.

Lovely jumper, Dry.

I've sent Matches three emails about the shirt, I think they are ignoring me. Angry grrr!

Hope you enjoy the week off with DH, Anni.

I still wear wedge trainers but according to the Guardian they are out! I like them still.

OneLittleLady · 06/01/2014 11:21

Hope DD is ok Santa

Barbie and MiniNovices hopw you're all feeling better soon, noror is terrible

I'm going to the pain clinic this afternoon, I've got a list of what I want from them so will see what they offer me

OneLittleLady · 06/01/2014 11:41

Oh god, sorry for typos, not very good pain wise today

BrandyAlexander · 06/01/2014 11:45

Good luck Santa! Also to One (you sound so assertive, lovely to hear).

Santa is so right about impact of noro on adults. Dh has been absolutely felled. So much more severely than the dcs. It's actually made me terrified of eating over the last couple of days!

Shop, have had no time to look at any of the bags again! Probably tomorrow. You're right about the builders, it told dh we better pay all our invoices on time without quibble!Blush

Annianni · 06/01/2014 12:07

Hope everyone gets well soon Flowers

I hate those vomiting bugs, awful things.
We haven't had it this Winter yet but Ds1 is back at school today [scared]

Dh is working his way through his list of jobs today...
Leaky pipe's been fixed, he's going to finally put the mirror up above the fire, got a shelf to put up in Ds2's room.
He's now playing zoos with Ds1...
Whilst I lie in the bath :o

Asos have some bargainous MiH in their sale, £35 to £40. Several styles and sizes.

Does anyone know when Matches will go to further reductions?

Annianni · 06/01/2014 12:11

Good luck Santa.

Hope your cape is ok Barbie.
Is it washable?
I use Ace bleach on my wool, cashmere and delicates, it's fab stuff for getting rid of nasty things.

Mignonette · 06/01/2014 12:13

Flowers to all the poorlys today and get well soon.

I am covered in pine needles from taking down the tree. We just have not had a spare moment seeing as it'll take two of us to get it out the door and into the car.

I have never been so tardy taking it down.

Had an um...interesting time yesterday surrounded by swirling undercurrents of family resentments (mainly directed towards SIL from my Mother/Sister) so was emotionally quite draining and a timely reminder to me that I shouldn't get too trusting of my Mother because ultimately, she will let me down.

The baby is super gorgeous though- bright, engaging and with a very long temper (quite possibly the low dose of Phenobarbitone she is on) which will be an asset in our family. My other niece was super hyper and this was possibly because she appears to have put aside by her Mother like last years toy Sad.

Families....Confused....

So I am wearing (as usual) totally inappropriate clothing for the task in hand, namely an Olive Green silk Twenties style dress (tunic, dropped waist) with a dark red cardigan over it. Brogues on feet as per usual again these days. I love deep red and olive green together.

Good article in the Guardian on the new maximalism and now it will not translate as well to the High St in terms of costs. Minimalism was cheaper to produce.

Annianni · 06/01/2014 12:23

Aw Mig could you take your niece out for the day?

I read on 40bum that she'd been ice skating and for pizza with one of her dc's, and I want to do that with Ds1. It's ages since we went anywhere without Ds2.

shopafrolic · 06/01/2014 12:30

Maximalism article here if anyone else wants a read - thanks Mig

OP posts:
RubyLovesShopping · 06/01/2014 12:36

Mig am off to have a read now, is your SIL fully recovered now? What's the long term outlook for your niece or is it still too early to tell?
Anni I have been ice skating with dc1, can only liken it to skating with Bambi! But always nice to spend time with them individually.
Hope all the poorly children and grown ups feel better soon.

OneLittleLady · 06/01/2014 12:39

Interesting article. I will be very interested to see what the high street can do with with this new trend. Doesn't really strike me as being quite so disposable as the more laid back, streamlined looks.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 06/01/2014 13:30

I'm almost afraid to post on here in case I catch a cyber version of norovirus!

Mig families can be very trying. Read some Philip Larkin (don't know if it will help much, but I'm sure the empathy wouldn't go amiss). So pleased your niece is doing well but hope her sister isn't suffering too much neglect. It's hard enough for older siblings when a new one comes along, but when the new one has SN I suppose it's even harder. Love the sound of your outfit today, I'm a sucker for anything 1920s/30s - such an elegant era.

I have the un-decorating to do later and am dreading it. My DMum insists that they must not come down before 12th night, so doing it all when I get home, although there are rather alot of them, so may well still be doing it after midnight.

Quite possibly bought this last night for £104 from Tags (think I got the last one!). Hope I don't get pulverised on import duties as I was feeling rather pleased with myself for scoring such a bargain.

Mignonette · 06/01/2014 13:42

Hi all -

I wouldn't be allowed to take niece 2 out- parents are still in the early stages of becoming accustomed to her needs.

Yes to Philip Larkin Grumpy. I find him very empathetic Grin.

Ruby I can see how it has affected her legs. She uses her core to lift them up together, they don't move independently nor can she grab a foot etc. She is starting to weight bear though. Her Physio is 80% one type and 20% the other- this latter type (forget the name) has shown evidence of damaging parent/child relationships if it is performed too often as children do not like it. it is more demanding and less pleasant Sad. The Neurologist was unable to stimulate a fit on her last check up so that is good news and will mean her Pheno will be reduced.
