A safe place to talk fashion stuff. Bring a passion for fashion (high end or high street), a positive state of mind and lots of links.

Morning everyone!

barbie I think unless you are willing to freeze in sub zero temp, there will be no way to look stylish in bulky clothes,I feel really bulky wearing my Down coat, have been living in it lately.

linus the weather has been very depressing lately,we I'll keep you company while your dh is away,

sleep will wave to you,if i see you in marylebone , need to return some things to the little white company, before going to Dd's appointment. Look for the lady in navy moncler down jacket, with a little girl,
I don't think I saw any rockstuds when I was there, but saw lovely ones at Selfridges.
Hope you enjoy your day Sounds great.

shop hope everything goes well at swimming class.

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2014 10:23

They definitely have Rockstuds in Liberty, a good selection.

Sleepwhenidie · 10/01/2014 10:33

Thanks Santa and Amber . Am running late as I bumped into friends getting a coffee after SR, so will skip marylebone (Santa we should meet for a coffee sometime!) and go straight for Liberty after spa as that is closest.

Don't know what facial yet Shop, they're going to do skin lab thing first as so long since I've been there.

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 10:33

Good Morning -

Apparently Shop the look to rock is 'Corpse' - here. This is a Guardian link which won't take you to NecroLove Weekly or naything like that.

Interesting random fact about Leo too. Good way to start the day, celebrity dick talk. Ladies- I give you William Defoe and David Bowie. You apparently need a dangerous wild animals licence for both of those monsters.

Restaurant outfits? Hmm. Nothing black with a sheen in case I dribble my food onto them. Nothing worse than grease spots on a tux/blazer lapel.

Something with upper body detail for sparkle in a low lit room. Cool bib necklace maybe? Not too heavy a fabric either. Is this day or night BTW? For day I'd wear one of the silk tabard tops from &Other Stories that are on my pin- salmon or a graphic print here which is forgiving of gluttony. Wear with narrow pants and in this weather, shoe boots or brogues. At night I'm loving my ACNE tunic dress here with either Sophia Webster dancing shoes if I'm straight from car to restaurant or a shoe boot with a higher heel. A light jacket or teddy bear Gilet/Jacket on the top. I have a lovely and cheap fake Lambswool Jerkin from Hennes that is sleeveless and looks great with bare arms at night. i chucked the cheap plastic belt and add better qual ones (the best advice EVER is to chuck all accompanying belts on High St items). This GAP jerkin is exactly the same as mine in style.

Interesting article shop!

Now I understand what all those female Hollywood stars see in Owen Wilson. Wink

OneLittleLady · 10/01/2014 11:26

Have started the ball rolling about getting into uni this year when he gets back to me, the course leader will be meeting with me to discuss my application and the kind of support I would need in order to be successful on the course Grin

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 12:43

Yay One

What course would you like to do?

MarshaBrady · 10/01/2014 13:02

Frames are here!

Need to make cake with ds then will open.

SilverSixpence · 10/01/2014 13:18

hello everyone, sorry i've not been around it has been very busy since we got back from holiday. So today I got my Emerson Fry coat, and it is gorgeous, i think i did an actual sharp intake of breath Smile

the bad news is that its too big! i am so disappointed, not sure if i should go to the expense of exchanging (they don't do refunds) or risk trying to sell on ebay to recoup what I paid. Or maybe alter myself?? or is that a bad idea.

Also I went mad and bought about 4 dresses and a pair of trousers from Hoss Intropia! I love the style of the clothes.

SilverSixpence · 10/01/2014 13:19

link to the coat here

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 13:24

Hi Silver

Could you seek advice from a tailor or dressmaker?

Barbie1 · 10/01/2014 13:34

silver beautiful coat. How much would it cost to send back for exchange compared to having a tailor alter it. I have lost faith in eBay (bitter experience talking) and would be worried I would loose too much.

one best of luck with the college application.

LinusDKD · 10/01/2014 13:40

leopard kitten heel for mig

LinusDKD · 10/01/2014 13:42

chambray shirt for marsha

Annianni · 10/01/2014 13:42

Thanks Amber :o

That coat is divine Silver.
Where is the coat too big?
The shape looks quite simple, you could have it taken in on the shoulder seams and side seams by the looks of it, without losing the shape.

I think Mominatrix uses a fab tailor in London, if you're anywhere near?

I can sew, but if it was my coat I'd possibly get a tailor to do it. Things that are lined can be a pain to alter.

Lovely coat silver

So, my morning has consisted of feeling pretty rubbish and getting breathless when I do anything. I've just been back to hospital for more blod tests and a chest X-ray. All seem to be normal so still thinking it's viral. Dh has had a stressful morning cancelling and rearranging all his patients who he was meant to be seeing in clinic this afternoon as there's no one available to cover him. I even ate some biscuits earlier as I thought a quick sugar rush would make me feel better. It didn't.

Restaurant wise I tend to wear black 7/8 trousers (and pop sox if cold Grin) with a navy or black blouse. Or I have a black wrap dress which I dress up with bling and heels.

Barbie1 · 10/01/2014 13:56

Queen, a few years back I had the same experience as you. Rushed to hospital and they thought I had a P.E. Was treated with clexane (sp?) injections into my stomach which had to be done daily and was hell. Totally knocked me for six. Never found out the real cause, was also fobbed off with viral infection.

It will take weeks to fully recover. Take it easy please!

QueenCadbury · 10/01/2014 14:11

Thanks barbie. I intend of doing nothing more strenuous than sitting in bed on my iPad fantastic shopping (my shopping mojo is back so must be slightly better Grin). I don't feel fobbed off as they literally have done every test under the sun as they're worried that they're missing something. Luckily they didn't start clexane as my blood tests were normal. I had to have 5 days of those after c section. I don't know how diabetics cope. I'm a nurse but could not inject myself and had to get dh to do it!

So talking of shopping has anyone ever had ballet flats from banana republic? Are they comfy and do they last?

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 14:41

(((( Queen )))) can you drink Wine?

Sounds scary. I'm a wimp too re jabs. I could never have a Depot injection. I practised forever to try not to inflict too much discomfort on my clients when they had their Depots administered but those oily injections do hurt. I had to give my SIL Clexane when she had Non Hodgkins as my BIl couldn't do it. Not sure if they do that over here but in Germany they do during early Chemo.

Stay in bed and shop rest.

I've never bought Banana Republic shoes. I saw some in an outlet in Georgia once (not Ballet pumps) and they seemed mid price High St in quality so unless you want them for banging about in all day, they'd be okay surely? BR have upped their game haven't they? When I visited (a few years ago now) they were like casual Brooks Brothers IYKWIM?

Drywhiteplease · 10/01/2014 14:43

QueenC hope they get to the bottom of your illness. Thanks

Ooooh....Leo is on radio 5 ( it is Di Capprio you're talking about?) he's v articulate.

Anni lol I do have Debretts ......will just go and look up that word Wink

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 14:47

Does Debretts cover the family trees of ugly little Norwegian creatures that live under bridges then? Wink

Drywhiteplease · 10/01/2014 14:49

Mig please leave that thread and bury it. I thought you had. It's awful and you'll get nowhere. Wish Amber you would too. It's really horrid.
