A safe place to talk fashion stuff. Bring a passion for fashion (high end or high street), a positive state of mind and lots of links.

I wouldn't Dry because they just wouldn't last. I had some shoes a while ago in similar metallic material and they cracked after less than a dozen wears.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 07/01/2014 23:18

May see you there Dry Wink

Go on the Royal Ascot website - they should have the revised dress code on there and you wouldn't want to be refused admission over an inadvertent breaking of the draconian rules - it happens! No exposed shoulders, minimum skirt length (ie - not the least short!), minimum hat diameter (4" crown-covering at the last known enforcing). You will see some sights in the general admissions - so many people go mad to try and get their pic in the paper, but the Royal Enclosure is mighty strict (for men too). It seems a faff, but you will have a lovely day and it's a bonanza for the clothes-loving! My tip - wear comfortable shoes because you will walk alot, and bear in mind that some of it will be on lawns and I have been known to step clean out of my shoes when the heel got stuck (although that was Newmarket, not Ascot).

Lancome collection was due out 26th jan but has been postponed due to packing issues until spring. My guess is they will launch it around valentines. If I hear more I'll let you know. Hope this helps. Looks a lovely collection, perfect for the new season.

Pressed powder...um, I never use myself but on clients I like smash box, guerline and lancome. All in transparent, non cakey and lightweight. Also too faced do a nice reasonably priced one Smile

I've started a pin board on beauty products that work...tried and tested by me, who is the most fussy person ever! Still pinning but feel free too look

Drywhiteplease · 08/01/2014 07:52

Grumpy it would be fantastic to bump into you....so it's a no to the strapless mini dress I was to wear then!!!!! Could you have a look at my hat on pin, I think it fits the criteria. Smile it's a fashion watcher's dream.

Turquoiseblue · 08/01/2014 08:06

Ohhhh Dry - exciting! Royal ascot, you ll have such a fabulous time. Envy So we ll all be on outfit watch for you. You should set up a pin board.
Barbie - where s your pin ? I love make up but haven't pinned much - will try link my pin later.

My Mum has a few Philip Tracey hats she adores - hats they re such fun.

Barbie1 · 08/01/2014 08:37

should be all my boards

MarshaBrady · 08/01/2014 09:18

Morning everyone. Thanks for boots feedback. You're right about width, I googled, very roomy. But not sure on Pettys. They look so nice when new but really with this rain, they are dirt magnets. I should go for leather.

Dry they are lovely, but they look like sitting down shoes Grin.

MarshaBrady · 08/01/2014 09:42

AR yellow ballerinas turned up, finally! And luckily I love them. Really soft and comfortable and pretty colour.

Santa you look incredible on pin. Where's the jacket from? Adore the whole outfit.

BrandyAlexander · 08/01/2014 10:22

Dry, that's fab news! When I went in 2012, I hosted a box for my clients in the royal enclosure on ladies day. Was fab, took piccies of her Maj and chatted with Simon Cowell (he has a box).

Anyway, I have managed to find the dress I wore. I wore a beautiful lilac wide brim hat that was much admired on the day and lovely shoes from Carvella. Stunning with a nude flower design on top and really comfortable.

The whole thing looked well put together, but was actually bought in my lunch hour the day beforeBlush. The dress was the only decent one in the store, they only had one of it and it was a 6, which is rare to see on a shop floor. Fitted like a dream. The hat was nearby and the shoes were £30. The gods were shining on me that day! I think I wore a cream/ivory jacket with the dress and a lilac skull clutch bag. Sequinned but understated.

Looking forward to hearing all about your outfits!

shopafrolic · 08/01/2014 11:16

Glad the ballerinas turned up before you went off them Marsha Good stuff.
I really need to replace the Goldsigns (as I lived in them) but I can't find them reduced anywhere in my size. Not sure whether to try something else, or just pay full price as I wear them and love them so much.

Hello all. Did no one notice I was missing? I'm posting from my hospital bed! Nothing serious thankfully. I had shortness of breath yesterday which got worse so had to call an ambulance. They've ruled out a blood clot and after lots of negative tests they think it must be some kind of virus. I'm on dh's ward so I've been well looked after Smile

justasecond · 08/01/2014 11:23

Marsha what about the pettys in the tan leather? don't seem to be available on any uk sites but I am thinking of ordering them from Shopbop www.shopbop.com/petty-bootie-sam-edelman/vp/v=1/1593438357. My fave pettys are these but not available in my size and only seem to be on this site -edelman-petty-s798846-p0000061859.
I found my perfect boots at the weekend but will have to return as they have pigskin lining (which I will not wear for religious reasons) I can't find them online but I'll pic a pic later, was going to do it last night but phone playing up.

shopafrolic · 08/01/2014 11:36

Shop you're star, have copied. Have wanted Frame for ages!

Justa yes they good be a really good option. Better try these skinnies first, then might order if I don't keep them.

shopafrolic · 08/01/2014 11:51

MarshaBrady · 08/01/2014 11:57

Great spot. Hopefully both!

Decameron · 08/01/2014 12:15

How scary, get well soon, QueenC.

You should definitely get those jeans, Santa, you look amazing in them.

Good bargain on the Frames.

I missed your post, very exciting about Ascot, Dry.

Anni, there is nothing suitable for sale at the moment but more houses will come up in the spring. Prices are going up in Dublin so hopefully more people will sell. We missed out on a great house just before Christmas, annoyingly. The next one is ours!

BrandyAlexander · 08/01/2014 12:17

BrandyAlexander · 08/01/2014 12:35

Because I wasn't looking at NAP before you posted the link to the skinnies. I followed your link but they were sold it in both 25 and 26 (story of my life) so decided to look at bags and there it was, a vision of beauty. Clearly your fault! Marsha is right, the bill (or dh) is on its way! Much thanks!Wink
