Ladies, stop with the emotional outbursts. I have tears in my eyes Smile.

novice I've pm'd you.

I once didn't do party bags as I hate them but I had kids in tears saying they couldn't leave as they hadn't had their party bags. Now I use the book people and buy a set of 8 or 10 books. Works out at about £1 per child and at least they have something decent. I hate all the tat you usually get in party bags.

Must go, lots of clearing up to be done from last night. I managed to stay awake till midnight (as did big dd and ds) and then went to bed!

Quiet today - everyone hungover? :)

Mignonette · 01/01/2014 15:42

Happy new Year, all of you.

Wine to absent friends. And Flowers.

One- so very lovely to read. You have worked very hard with the weight loss.

You are all my fwends.

I had a good night but paying for it now. Got home at 4:30 a.m as on the way home found a clearly mentally unwell person sitting sprawled on their doorstep. It took some time to persuaded them to go in as they were a little paranoid (they'd have frozen had they stayed out) and we had to look for their keys. Called the hideously inadequate (due to cuts) local MH services to come check them.

So anyway, get to bed at 5 only to be awoken by son at 9 who didn't have a key and I managed to go down two flights of stairs, open the door, go to the loo and get back into bed all without opening my eyes because I pretty much couldn't.

I wore the grey tulip shaped midi skirt with sequins. On top I wore a Breton wool boat neck sweater from an actual Breton shop. My shoes were the Snakeskin Pour La Victoire brogues (am a little crushy about them) and I also took my Belle De Jours in case I wanted something more fancy schmancy. Danced and caroused and met new people. Good for me because I am normally quite quiet and reserved at parties and tend to stick to one on one talk. I am not a small talker.

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 16:42

Sounds good Mig.

We need to hear from Sleep did you survive the wet and wind?

And Dry did you survive around the world?

And can't think of more.

OneLittleLady · 01/01/2014 16:47

How goes your hunt for a skirt marsha? Seen anything nice?

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 16:56

Not yet! Am hoping for a 70% off sale bargain to fall in front of my eyes.

QueenCadbury · 01/01/2014 17:29

No hangover here but I want to go home now. Iabu but I've had enough now and want my own space.

No hangover here, just on a NY decluttering frenzy - why and how does my house accumulate so much crap???? I think I need to start lurking on the housekeeping threads. Have been in trackpants all day - glam!

BecauseIsaidS0 · 01/01/2014 18:07

Queen, I just got home and it feels like heaven. Should be cleaning/decluttering but am instead in my PJs, hanging around and enjoying the feeling of being home and not having to go back to work until Monday.

OneLittleLady · 01/01/2014 18:14

Just woke up from a desperately needed nap. Got less than two hours sleep last night because of the pain Sad

justasecond · 01/01/2014 19:39

Happy new year everyone!!!
Novice Sad to hear the news about your dsis, hope 2014 brings her a speedy recovery and good health.
One hope you feel better soon.
Marsha love the colour of your pumps. I am also shopping for my summer holiday. I stand a bettter chance of clothes with sleeves and full length trousers in the winter! So far have bought some lovely printed silk tapered trousers and navy blue slim leg chinos in Massimo Dutti. MD trousers are always a good fit on me.
Liberty I am with you on the decluttering, you should see my house atm, bloody toys everywhere. Ds loves puzzles atm and dh bought him a pack of 10 the other day, they are all over the house. Also house is always a mess when DH around, he's back at work tomorow thankfully.

shopafrolic · 01/01/2014 20:21

Anyone else counting down to Sherlock?

BecauseIsaidS0 · 01/01/2014 20:26

Me!!!

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 20:27

They sound really pretty Justa.

I don't watch it Shop. Nothing left to watch here now MiC is over Wink

OneLittleLady · 01/01/2014 20:32

As shop suggested, I've made a pin board with the pics charting my shape changes/weight loss. it's not a secret board so you can all look at it. I think keeping a visual chart will help me actually see for myself that my shape is changing and actually be able to accept it instead of the kind of..... disconnect i feel about it at the minute

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 01/01/2014 20:35

Happy New Year, MNV Lovelies!

Quiet one here too - lovely supper with friends next door and home for a bath and to watch the London fireworks on TV with DD2 (DH and DD1 didn't last that long). Worked a bit this morning and then on to the races where we had a nice winner and a fab day with more great friends. The weather was yucky, so nobody could see my cream polo neck and Holland Cooper skirt under my trenchcoat. I didn't even get to wear the hat because it was too blustery and it may have gone into orbit!
Shop I paid £135 for my hat from a milliner used by my good friend Lizzie Hughes. Her DH is champion jockey and she has the most wonderful collection of millinery. If you are interested, PM me and I'll send you some details.

I was very moved by some of your words on NYE and echo the sentiments totally. Shit was going down when I discovered you all early last year and I was grateful initially for the diversion of friendly fashion chat and later for some serious inspiration! Love you all x

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 20:44

Lovely post Grumpy, fab to have you here.

My challenge this year is to not buy one single thing that is discarded and not used enough.

shopafrolic · 01/01/2014 20:50

grumpy I'd love some details. Can't PM right now but definitely interested...... Hope the shit that was going down is in the past, and really glad you're on the thread.
Yes Marsha I'll take up that challenge too. I've made a couple of recent mistakes. Helmut lang knit looks cheap and the coated skinnies have stretched (or it's the lbs I've lost ) but they are getting baggy.....
I've realised the pieces I should keep are the ones I want to wear Immediately. No waiting.
MiC closing party was rubbish (as always). Not sure what to watch for cheap thrills now? Hmm

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 20:52

Argh bugger on the Helmut Lang. I have a confession too, the £20 I&I red one is full of holes already Blush. I snipped a loose thread and the bloody thing practically unravelled.

Perhaps if I own up to my mistakes that would help me not make them.

NoDrywhitepleaseeveragain · 01/01/2014 20:52

I'm alive.......only just! A fab NYE. Do you know how many shots are in one Long Island tea?Shock NEVER again. Never never never. Had a delicious drink, a variation of a kir royale with blackberry liqueur and champagne with 2 blackberries bobbing around, called Champberry, lovely. Funny games. Beyond bad head this morning.

Happy 2014 and love to you all and especially to my namesake Flowers. Some fantastic messages on here. I've had such fun getting to know you all, and meeting some of you at the MU. I'm addicted to MNV, my guilty pleasure. I love all the fashion talk but above everything I love the friendship. Here's to another fashion and fun filled year.Smile

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 20:53

On clothes that is Grin. Dh just laughed when he saw it.

And I ruined a few other I&I cashmere ones in the washing machine. Thank goodness I was tired of them already.

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 20:56

Dry love the name change Grin

Yes and bravo to the friendship, love it.

NoDrywhitepleaseeveragain · 01/01/2014 21:03

New Years resolutions;

Give up wine for January
Ebay all Boden tunics
Continue buying fewer classic, quality items rather than lots of cheap tat.
Have a ruthless sort out of my shoes

Mignonette · 01/01/2014 21:06

Shop My husband's daughter was at the MIC last show party scenes. Am awaiting news on how she thought it differed from reality of what she witnessed.

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 21:06

I missed the after party one for some reason.
