I've realised I'm a bit bah humbug about NYE. I set myself goals all year round so don't get the whole "things will be different next year mentality".
Can someone tell me good stuff to make me feel a bit happier about it all? I think I just miss being able to party TBH

I'm about NYE but I enjoy spending time with my friends. We don't partay per se (although a fair bit of libation goes on) but we do all enjoy ourselves.

Tonight I am going to wear one of the skirts I have dug out of the back closet. I found three (3) tulip shaped midi skirts, one navy, one burgundy, one mid grey. The first two have a heavily sequin encrusted band around the hem and the grey has lines of Art Deco style sequins vertically with a heavy and deep satin waistband. I am so pleased. So trying to decide between the three. To go with? A fitted T shirt in plain colour; cream or black or grey and my checked coat over the top. I might take my heavy wool cardigan (cropped) too. On my feet I am tempted to wear my snakeskin dark grey Pour La Victoire brogues as a sartorial contrast to the girly twirly skirt. Heels don't look modern or fresh with this skirt shape at the moment for me. My other choice are my old pair of Roger Vivier Belle De Jours but worried that might be a little too literal.

My two are very disappointed if there are no party bags tbh. I give out sticker books, bubbles, chocolate coins, sunglasses at their parties. The menu sounds good, Liberty!

I love the Roger Vivier shoes, Mignonette but you will look cool in your brogues.

Hugs from here too Novice. My DM had a similar diagnosis about 7 years ago and it was the worst time. However, she has responded well to the treatments she had then and is happy, healthy and thriving with her regular check ups now yielding only good news. Please keep faith that all will be well - it's worth it.

Dry - no clue as to what to wear tomorrow. I'll wait and see what the weather brings, but I recently had a charcoal trilby hat custom-made with a nicely coloured band and I'd like to give it an outing. The rest of the outfit may revolve around said hat.

Returned the jacket to JW, but disappointingly CdC was closing by the time I made it up there. Spent a bit more on JCrew to compensate though.

Grumpy I'd LOVE a custom made trilby - where do you go for such things and are they £££££?? I have a massive head (no surprise there then) so struggle to find hats to fit me but I love a good hat, I really do........

You have, all of you, helped improve my life, my confidence, self esteem and general outlook on things beyond measure. I came here because I was bored and lonely, just looking for a way to pass the time and I wasn't expecting to make friends. If I'm honest, I have always struggled to make friends but you have all been so kind and welcoming that it felt, for the first time I can remember, easy. All of you brighten my day, every day, and I feel so lucky to have found you all. Ladies, I am a newbie to MNV but hope to get to know you all throughout 2014. I'm really chuffed to have found this thread as most of my day is spent in a male dominated office with a conservative dress code, so not a lot of opportunity to gush over clothes/makeup/accessories.

Not that I'm very fashionable right now: wearing Diesel straight leg blue jeans, an old All Saints tshirt and DH's oversized hoodie. The children are out to their NYE parties and we are just about to pop Casablanca in the DVD player and open one of the bottles of fancy wine we were gifted for our wedding.
