I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting old or if everyone else has no style sense but there are a few things I see poeple wearing nowadays and it just makes my think "OMG...go home and get changed!!"

1)Mostly a teenage thing I think but footless tights with short mini skirts.....what on earth is all that about???

2)Racer back vest tops with bra straps showing!!
Errrr is it too much to wear a strapless bra??

3)White t-shirts/tops/vest with black bras underneath!!
It's just wrong!

I'm sure there are aload more too.....

'OMG...go home and get changed!! '

Yep, that about sums up 90% of the females I see on the streets these days on my daily walks. I alternate between the following thoughts:

'Leave something to the imagination, it's about your only shot at actually looking decent.'

'Hope you're heading to the gym in those skimpy clothes. You need it.'

'No one wants to buy merchandise that's gone off, honey.'

'Boots is just up that way! They sell deodorant in there.'

i loVe the footless tights look
will do myslef in winter

expatinscotland · 18/07/2006 09:34

I love the rolls of young flesh on display, partially covered by strappy vest with no bra.

Yeah, that's attractive!

LadyTophamHatt · 18/07/2006 09:36

Nooo fishie...you're joking...I don't believe you!!

Please tell me you're joking or I'll never be able to take any fashion advice you give seriously again

young people can sort of get away with all of these things, footless tights and minis do look ok! i remember dressing like this too in the 80s

meowmix · 18/07/2006 10:00

the black bra under white t-shirt thing is very prevalent in the office today I notice. Have these people never heard of flesh coloured?

pecka · 18/07/2006 10:00

Another vote for footless but you have to be verrrrrrry careful where on the leg they end.

Bozza · 18/07/2006 10:01

It's the bra thing that gets to me. I am OK with discreet, decent straps showing with a strappy top but I went on a rare night out and saw all of the following:

  • black bra under pale top
  • ordinary bra worn with halter neck
  • ordinary bra worn with racer back
  • vest top with the back of the bra showing above the back of the vest
LadyTophamHatt · 18/07/2006 10:01

or just white...meow...just white would be better.

Why choose a black bra....why???

halterneck tops with normal shoulder bra straps. ugh.

gladiator sandals

tight low-cut vests and denim minis

speedymama · 18/07/2006 10:03

I can't bear to look at women who wear low waist jeans that allow 10 inches of surplus flesh to spill out over the top. Don't they ever look in a mirror?

Last week, DH telephoned me from work after he had been for his lunch time walk. He was aghast at the site of young men wearing girly type flip flops. Now that I do not understand, particularly as I detest flip flops anyway.

expatinscotland · 18/07/2006 10:04

at least they're wearing bras.

alexsmum · 18/07/2006 10:05

the bra thing always wound me up when watching sex and the city.carrie bloody bradshaw would wear backless dresses and always wear a bloody bra with them!! i used to want to scream at the t.v-get a backless bra fgs!!!!or go without-you are pretty flat anyway!!!!!!! why the bra showing?!!!!

alexsmum · 18/07/2006 10:06

the naff longish 70's style haircuts lots of boys/men are wearing these days-look like something from the bay city rollers.

expatinscotland · 18/07/2006 10:07

I've seen women 15+ years younger than I am w/more stretchmarks on their boobs, and saggier ones, than I've got at 35 after two kids and breastfeeding.

That's sad.

southeastastra · 18/07/2006 10:08

men look better with long hair

alexsmum · 18/07/2006 10:08

but that's not fashion.they can't help how streched /saggy their breasts get.

alexsmum · 18/07/2006 10:09

stretched even.

and i'm sorry men don't look better with long hair.they also don't look good with shaved hair.
just a nice short stylish cut, without it flopping all over their faces.

Carmenere · 18/07/2006 10:11

Tut tut, young people today with their long hair and silly clothes . FFS listen to yourselves, being young is all about wearing clothes that older people dont understand! I would love to see pics of you guys in your teens because if you are anything like me you looked as ridiculous as they do today!

MrsBadger · 18/07/2006 10:11

pmsl at speedypapa being so disgusted he had to ring and tell her!
I don't mind flipflops on men - better than either smelly trainers or ghastly 'sports' sandals.

My current bugbear is inappropriate displays of flesh in a professional setting - I know we have no dresscode in our lab, and I know the itsy-bitsy PhD students are trying to look alluring but hotpants are not suitable as workwear.

expatinscotland · 18/07/2006 10:12

yeah, but wearing a bra might help, alex. not exposing your norks to the sun can also help.

SOME men do look better w/longer hair. others really don't.

alexsmum · 18/07/2006 10:13

i agree of course a supportive bra should be worn!!!

expatinscotland · 18/07/2006 10:15

hair feet in flip flops. eewwww.

the horned hoof look is popular here, too.

Jazzi · 18/07/2006 10:17

I was a goth in my youth - looked very silly, but I was convinced I looked really cool!!

puddle · 18/07/2006 10:17

I really don't get the 'office shorts' look. Or the 'extra from little house on the prairie' peasant thing.

I love footless tights under short skirts on teenagers - my niece looks gorgeous in them - will be sporting them under longer dresses myself.
