I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting old or if everyone else has no style sense but there are a few things I see poeple wearing nowadays and it just makes my think "OMG...go home and get changed!!"

1)Mostly a teenage thing I think but footless tights with short mini skirts.....what on earth is all that about???

2)Racer back vest tops with bra straps showing!!
Errrr is it too much to wear a strapless bra??

3)White t-shirts/tops/vest with black bras underneath!!
It's just wrong!

I'm sure there are aload more too.....

Or even easier LTH - don't paint your toe nails...

LadyTamba · 18/07/2006 11:39

hmmmm might be worth a thought... I 'do' the whole innocent thing quite well

MissChief · 18/07/2006 11:41

somehow think you're young enough to get away with it LadyT. am i right? youth & attitude can pull it off.

LadyTamba · 18/07/2006 11:44

Im 23. I dont know what sort of attitude i give off though

LadyTamba · 18/07/2006 11:45

I guess when I wear a black bra under a white top its because its meant to be seen

MissChief · 18/07/2006 11:46

well, exactly, you're probably fine then. though - might be worth running by a RL friend tho to be absolutely sure
it looks very sad though on an ageing 30/40-something

niceglasses · 18/07/2006 11:52

I love to see young lads with longish hair a la Rollers. Think it looks ace. But then am bit of an old hippy. Think the young girls with minis etc look good as well if they have the figures.........you're only jealous!!!!!

(I know I am being 38 and well past it)

Tutter · 18/07/2006 11:55

got to disagree with some of this. i wouldn't do the footless tights under mini skirt myself, but i would if i were 20 years younger. and i don't own a pair of city shorts but that's mostly because i haven't found the right ones yet. think that (with the right shoes) they can look great.

i know i'll probably offend most of you but i hate with a passion the floaty layered peasant skirts. they are rarely flattering and are everywhere. even saw an old lady wearing one the other day .

if you're going to show bra straps they should a) be pretty and b) peep - i.e. more or less follow the line/strap of your top.

have yet to see anyone other than a supermodel (and russell crowe) carry off gladiator sandals.

imo summer is difficult. much easier in winter - great jeans and nice boots plus whatever you sling on the top. and no consideration to underwear.

MrsBigD · 18/07/2006 12:18

can't remember now who said 'what were you wearing when you were young'... that's different it was called the 80's

As for leggings under miniskirt... I just wonder why? especially in this heat!

The bra thing I fully agree with. Have to admit though to atm occassionally 'flashing' my bra straps wearing spaghetti string tops. However, I managed to buy one of those naff bras with see through straps

City Shorts, can't say I have seen any, but if the gal has the legs what's the difference to a shortish skirt? More decent if anything...

Oh and those too tight hipster trousers... eeeewww. It just doesn't look good. Well it might on a size 4 but not on what's running round here! Fair enough I've been 'sporting' a bit more skin than usual as I'm just too bl**dy hot, but still try and maintain some sort of coverage of my post babies midrif saggy bulge

I shall now go hang my head in shame as my toe nails are not nicely polished and I am wearing (pretty) flipflops today. Can't squeeze my swollen feet into any of my other shoes.

cardy · 18/07/2006 12:20

I've said this before but very low-rise jeans with knickers showing.

SSSandy · 18/07/2006 12:29

eek! footless tights with a mini skirt- it's that awful Madonna-Bangles type 80's look resurrected.

Anything that shows bra straps, underwear of any kind is so tacky. Double eek!

Hipster jeans, skirts, shorts with a flabby tum or love handles hanging over the side -- buy a full length mirror PLEASE ladies. Eek Eek Eek!

Think people will look back on this era as one where people were particularly badly dressed if you ask me.

Earlybird · 18/07/2006 12:29

My current fashion pet peeve is the number of people in sandals that are too small for their feet. If your toes are over the end of the shoe, you need a larger size....!!

CarolinaMoose · 18/07/2006 12:31

sorry, a black bra under a white top is never a good look.

I saw a really pretty teenage girl the other day baggy, backless white top with a bra underneath and you could see the entire back of her bra with the top billowing around it like a windsock. Horrible. Maybe it was the only thing that was clean, but that's no excuse imho.

agree re leggings and short skirts being dead cute on teenagers. City shorts are only good if you're over 5'10" and a size 10 or less.

Blackduck · 18/07/2006 12:34

I am tidy for work - then it all goes down hill - I am living in a pair of very loose comfi linen trousers at home (drawstring waist...) and flip flops...ds is mainly wearing a tshirt and nothing below the waist

MrsBigD · 18/07/2006 12:37

blackduck you manage to get a top on ds? my ds just wants to roam free

Also shabby at home is fully acceptable I'm sure, well in my book anyhow as I live in whatever comes handy when indoors.

Reginald · 18/07/2006 12:37

I don't understand this - when I go out and about all the young people look great (to my eyes anyway!). I love the footless tights with mini skirts and the pretty bra straps with racer back vests, I wish I had the figure to wear them :-/

Blackduck · 18/07/2006 12:38

MrsBigD - believe me it isn't easy......- he starts fully clothed, but aftr the first trip to the loo forget it....

MrsBigD · 18/07/2006 18:04

saw 2 more no no's whilst out this arvo

Surfer Dude outfit in town - hey am all for it on Hawaii or Bondi beach but not in London town!

bloke, topless, knee length low slung shorts with top of undies showing. O.k. the one I saw he had a great bod so letting him off for 'crimes against fashion'

SSSandy · 18/07/2006 18:50

Took dd to swimming lessons at the outdoor pool this afternoon and saw a real wopper. Nice looking girl with a nice figure, she'd have looked great in almost anything but this outfit was just BLEURGH:

white Roman sandals laced up her calves. Very short pleated cheerleader style bright pink skirt, matching pink t-shirt with a heart cut out at the back.

No, no, no, dear that is not chic, not chic at all!

expatinscotland · 18/07/2006 18:53

Saw a workie today, and although he was dead fit (and all of about 17 years old!), I don't know why he bothered putting trousers on, b/c they were so far down his body you could see most of his pants.

NOT a good luck!

cardy · 18/07/2006 19:52

Some boys can almost get away with it....knickers showing I mean, but its the girls - very low jeans with pink lacy knickers. The g-string seems to have been and gone it's big lacy ones now..urgh!

mousiemousie · 18/07/2006 19:55

artificial pumped up norks
botox foreheads
anything selected by posh
flat pumps & drainpipes - even looks crap on Kate Moss
