Am I too fat for this Oasis winter rose dress? Be honest.

I have fat arms, this doesn't do good things to them as the pudgy above elbow bit is showing.

Also wearing spanx here but the split means the thunder thigh holding in bits might be seen, so the dress is spanx prohibitive. Other pant options would be needed.

Should I send it back and just accept I need a nice mumsy wrap dress that covers all the fat bits?

Great pins missus! You don't look much bigger than me at all... am panicking now that the 12 is going to be tiny and I won't even fit a calf into it.

Dh is going to be really pissed off if I send him all the way across london for something that doesn't fit.

Is the crepe not stretchy then?

Also ordered: Delores crepe teal, 10 (massively optimistic)
Delores plain black, 12
Simone, blue check, 12

The crepe has some stretch but not as much. Honestly I'm sure it will be fine - I'm 14'10lbs last time I weighed!

Pinupgirl · 21/10/2013 16:41

Any news on dress fitting? I will feel guilty after recommending you to size down if it doesn't but I do feel the majority of Collectif's stuff comes up big.

I just bought the Polly Paddington pencil skirt in a 16 and its very stretchy-I could have probably got away with the 14 and there is no way I would fit a 14 on the high street!

Butteredsidedown · 21/10/2013 17:11

No news yet Pinup, I'm sending DH across London tomorrow to collect one for me. Will update pics if I can get into it!

Any advice on dyeing my hair more red too? I did a henna strand test last night and am feeling inclined to go crazy and just do it.

Something about being made redundant and having a midlife crisis maybe.

Um. I just did mine bright red Grin
Between the tattoos, red hair and wiggle dresses I'm looking a little more noticeable!

Butteredsidedown · 21/10/2013 18:46

What did you dye it with? I've got lush henna in rouge and marron. Was thinking of mixing the two to go more of a chestnut colour, but the strand test on my auburn hair is still pretty bright red. Thinking I'll just do it.

Just need a tat to join the club!

I used l'oreal magicontrast mixed with peroxide from Sally's - v bright!
Roots are a bit pink as my red/brown had grown out. Am natural auburn

That looks flippin awesome! I have hair, and also specs, envy.

Your hair looks amazing with your eye colour. My hair lets me down as I cant go bleach blonde as it is in too bad condition so need to settle for a light blonde which is not the pin up look I wantSad

I am keeping everything crossed that the dress fits buttered

goodasitgets · 21/10/2013 19:37

Specs are a range at boots - Kyusu
They do some nice stuff
I'm always envious of people with straight hair Grin

Pinupgirl · 22/10/2013 18:44

Any news on the dress yet?

Butteredsidedown · 22/10/2013 19:13

Ok here goes...

First pic is teal dress, it's tight, but stretchy and fine with spanx on. I think it's the best one.

Second one is he same crepe dress but in navy. Weirdly it feels more relaxed not exactly a bigger size, but more roomy.

The third one I won't even show because it's a 14 and way too big.

I'm going all out and going to henna my hair too. Can I pull off the hat and red lippy?

Oh and the shoes are wrong with the teal dress and hat. Was thinking of getting the same Clark's ones but in maroon patent.

Thoughts?

It looks wonderful! Haha makes your bum look nice and pert (sounds creepy but not meant to be!)

Butteredsidedown · 22/10/2013 19:24

Pert? Crikey.

That'll be the spanx.

Jellymane · 22/10/2013 19:26

I think it looks great, and more importantly, you look like you feel great in it (which you didn't in the Oasis one - not look great, I mean, but feel ... oh, you know what I mean, I hope!)
Also, defo give the henna a go!

mrssmooth · 22/10/2013 19:29

Looks fab-u-lous!

MummyofIsla · 22/10/2013 19:32

Haha my spanx are my saviour! After having my dd I couldn't survive without them.

EatingAllTheCrumpets · 22/10/2013 19:32

I adore this dress, and you are most certainly not too fat for it.

Very Envy of your beautiful hair though, so sleek and shiny

goodasitgets · 22/10/2013 19:35

That looks fantastic!

Hoojimiflip · 22/10/2013 19:55

You look so much younger in the Collectif dresses! Send back the Oasis dress and embrace your youth.

bigbrick · 22/10/2013 19:59

Fabulous

girlsyearapart · 22/10/2013 21:01

Yes I prefer the collectif ones. And agree you look happier in them than the oasis one.

And your living room is also very tidy. I see a theme..

Pinupgirl · 22/10/2013 21:26

Yay!! Am so happy it fits. You look stunning. You were hiding a great figure under that horrible baggy dress.Def yes to the hat,red lippy and seamed stockings. I should get bloody commision from Collectif for the amount of times I recommend them!

Butteredsidedown · 22/10/2013 21:43

Ok, just got to find seamed stockings, a burgundy clutch, and buy some more shoes. Jesus wept, weddings are pricey.

Though the dress itself was reduced to £25...

Should have got Dh to buy seamed stockings in the store, but obvs men don't do that kinda thing.

I now have a spare Delores in plain royal (like dark royal blue/purple) size 14 if anyone wants it. It was in the sale for £15. I'd say its a fairly generous 14.
