Am I too fat for this Oasis winter rose dress? Be honest.

I have fat arms, this doesn't do good things to them as the pudgy above elbow bit is showing.

Also wearing spanx here but the split means the thunder thigh holding in bits might be seen, so the dress is spanx prohibitive. Other pant options would be needed.

Should I send it back and just accept I need a nice mumsy wrap dress that covers all the fat bits?

Collectif Dolores are fab. Very stretchy. Mine is an 18, though, and I'm normally about 16. But for £40 or so, they're brilliant; mine's bright red. I dare say I'd fit into a 16 but my pants might show.

Is the phase eight one this ?

I have tried on a very flattering lace dress from phase eight last season, it was grey and I should have bought it at the time. However I'm not that keen on the insert panel bit on this one.

I think I'll enjoy a day shopping and buying some red lippy, try the phase eight one, but will probably end up ringing collectif with my stats to order a dress.

Laurie... Totally right about it just fitting on thighs. I don't wanna be that poured into the dress woman. There's always one isn't there?!

Insert panels look awful whatever. They are too try hard and are not even ironic now, just naff. I was at a do last night and there were some hideous ones.

Yes, that's the phase eight one, I'm ordering it too. Apparently it's very good on.

Lol-my dh used to moan at me about dressing in this style as he loves it but now that I do it every day I think he is a bitBlush-it does attract attention!

I have never had so many compliments as when I am wearing one of my collectif dresses! Am meeting friends for lunch tomorrow and am planning on wearing my pink violet skull dress with pink petticoat, seamed stockings and mary jane shoes.

Dressing retro is addictive-I have warned youWink

I think the shape is fine and suits you but I don't think the colour is your friend. It's a bit bland for your colouring I think. And definitely not those shoes. It needs something black with a higher, slimmer heel

You are not fat. Dress looks a bit big on you.

With my light red hair, I guess the colour is a bit wrong.

I'm actually thinking of doing henna soon, to go a darker red/chestnut colour. I'm fed up of being a bit beige if you know what I mean.

Dh would certainly be happy if I did the retro look more often. I sometimes do sixties look with pocket shift dresses etc.

I don't care what anyone says though, I bloody love the shoes. They are comfy and high (for me) and I feel like the girl in the Clark's advert. In my mind I look like her too.

I blame you for the fact I have just ordered another collectif dress! The stella sweetheart doll in baby blue-need another collectif dress like a hole in the head Oh well!

Oops, sorry! At least you aren't spending as much as me.

So far my list includes:
Delores dress
Stocking pants
Black stockings
Red hair flower
Black belt

I'm going to get my money's worth since I've just been made redundant. Who says I can't do pin up on the school run??

I think that the Dolores dress would look great with your hair colour etc- go for it! Scarlet lips would look good too- I can't do that as coloured lips make my teeth look a bit yellow Confused. I'm definitely going to investigate Collectif when I can justify another clothing purchase...

Make sure you update with pics please! Smile

I think you look lovely in that dress and not at all fat.

I bought a dress for a wedding, everybody told me I looked great, I hated the dress and eBayed it the following week.

It may have seemed irrational to everyone else, but I just didn't feel comfortable and was forever fiddling about with it and knew I'd never wear it again.

I suppose I'm saying that there are some dresses you ever feel at home in for whatever reason.

All right you buggers, which one of you went and bought the Delores dress in a 12?

It's only sodding sold out now isn't it.

I bought this as a back up dress today, but I going to be fuming if I can't have that collectif one.

I was a 10rc today in pepperberry, reckon there's any chance I'll fit into a 10 Delores? I really think a 10 is super flattering, the oasis one was 14 and still too small on the bum.

Dress looks lovely, if anything it's a smidge too long for you but you definitely don't look fat in it!

You look great!

You are not fat, if you think you are, you're wasting your best looking, most fresh and shapely years obsessing over something that is not real.

Butteredsidedown · 21/10/2013 13:58

Hellonheels - point taken! I might repeat that to myself as a mantra.

Not only have I now taken the dress back because I felt frumpy in it, I have managed to order 3 Collectif dresses in one day, and reserve the one I really really like (the Delores teal crepe one in 12) in a store for Dh to collect tomorrow for me.

Productive day

Creeps in. It's me with the teal crepe one!
Don't know if this pic will work. I'm a bit fatter though, am a size 16 but this is an 18 owing to lack of stretch
