Am I too fat for this Oasis winter rose dress? Be honest.

I have fat arms, this doesn't do good things to them as the pudgy above elbow bit is showing.

Also wearing spanx here but the split means the thunder thigh holding in bits might be seen, so the dress is spanx prohibitive. Other pant options would be needed.

Should I send it back and just accept I need a nice mumsy wrap dress that covers all the fat bits?

It does look a bit big. Does not make you look fat at all, you are not fat. Smile

I've had this issue with several Oasis dresses- they fit around the boobs/legs etc, but there's excess material around the stomach/waist which makes me feel like I look fatter Hmm, so I know what you mean.

If you can't go for higher heels or a shorter length, I'd say try a different dress that shows at bit more cleavage! If you've got a good rack but don't like your legs/arms, get your boobs out a bit more and it will divert attention from the bits you feel less confident about. That's my trick anyway... Wink

Branleuse · 19/10/2013 19:12

no, i think its really nice, you look feminine and curvy in a good way

GirlWithTheDirtyShirt · 19/10/2013 19:19

It looks gorgeous! Definitely not too fat!

buttercrumble · 19/10/2013 20:11

You look fab , just need higher heels though Smile

LeoandBoosmum · 19/10/2013 20:15

I think you look great! :)
Also, would love to know what you use on your hair! It is so shiny, smooth and fuzz-free! It looks like a longer version of mine, except mine is a frizzy mess! May I ask what you use?

Butteredsidedown · 19/10/2013 20:55

Aw, thanks!

I just did the amazon Brazilian keratin treatment on it last week for the first time. Totally worth £25. Normally my hair is a nightmare with any tiny drop of moisture in the air and I straighten the shite out of it.
After the treatment I just blow dry and do a super quick 2 min straighten. I can even go out in fog now no problem!

Do it, you won't regret it.

You look lovely and most definitely don't look fat.

impatienttobemummy · 19/10/2013 20:59

Looks lovely

girlsyearapart · 19/10/2013 21:03

I think it looks lovely.

And I am totally jealous of your über tidy room!

ChanelTunel · 19/10/2013 21:07

Looks great, and fits well. I'd match the shoe colour to the paler shade in the dress.

hermioneweasley · 19/10/2013 21:11

You look great, but woukdn't wear those shoes with it

Pinupgirl · 19/10/2013 21:15

You are not fat but I think you know that. I don't think the dress does anything for your figure at all-its far too loose around the waist and the neckline is too high.

Try Collectif-they are a repo vintage shop. You will probably have a look and think no,no,no but once you try a dress you will be hooked.

trianglecirclesquare · 19/10/2013 21:21

Yup, bring out the rack! Smile Honestly you do look great and deserve an even better way to show it off.

NigellasGuest · 19/10/2013 21:31

you have an amazing figure and I can't see anything pudgy above elbow bits! I would not say make the dress shorter and wear higher heels, I would say make the dress shorter OR wear higher heels. As you can't walk in heels that's a non-starter.... if you really love the dress can you have it altered in the middle/bottom area, and take the hem up an inch or two at the same time?

I do think the pattern of the dressoverwhelms you a bit but if you love it that's almost more important.... I love the shoe colour! if you consider looking for another dress why don't you look for something less patterned and a similar colour to those shoes? I think that colour would look great on you.

OneMoreThenNoMore · 19/10/2013 21:32

Ooh Pinup, just had a nosy at Collectif- some lovely dresses! Going to bookmark so that I can have a proper look in the morning, without my wine goggles. Wink

Butteredsidedown · 19/10/2013 21:41

Wow, collectif do have lovely stuff. I'm never brave enough to do 40s pin up thang, but would like to try it. Dh just said he got rather aroused looking at the site! I'm not in London though so would have to order online. Might well do that if I don't find anything in reading tomorrow.

The teal heels I have are about as high as I can go, they are the Clark's suede ones are are fairly comfy. Teal is a good colour for me, but when you are looking for something specific you can never find it!

Def not too fat.

If you're worried about Spanx showing, just get some control tights in a cappuccino colour & you won't be able to see them...

twoboysundertwo · 19/10/2013 22:33

You look lovely! not fattt!
your talking to the girl who wears spanks under my swimming costume!

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/10/2013 22:35

You look fab not fat at all!!
Love that dress

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 19/10/2013 22:40

You are not too fat for the dress, you are not fat at all.

I think you've probably got a fab figure but the dress swamps you and the sleeve length is a bit frumpy and mumsy - it would work better on someone taller.

Wear something with more of a waist that is an inch or two shorter and you will look fabulous.

Pinupgirl · 19/10/2013 22:49

I have those teal shoes! There is a teal dress on the Collectif site, Its the Dolores wiggle style. A poster on here has it and posted a pic-I think it was asgoodasitgets-and she looked stunning in it.

Collectif are amazing-email them if you have any questions re sizing-I find them on the generous size-am a 16 on the high street but can fit into their 14 in the Dolores style.

At least try one of their dresses-quite honestly they have changed my life after another poster on here recommended them!

Butteredsidedown · 19/10/2013 23:00

Pinup, I've just been umming and ahhing over that Delores dress! I think I will order it. I'm between 12 to 14. The oasis dress was a 14 and is too small on the bum but too big on the waist.

It's for a wedding next Saturday so I'm running out of time now.

I'm thinking scarlet lipstick... And possibly even a red hair pin. Encouraged to be daring by mumsnetters.

If I saw you in the street I would think you looked very lovely

But the dress is not perfect for your shape. It just fits your thighs now, if you put on half a pound on your thighs it would strain and ride up ( so if you had half a bottle of wine and a pizza on a date you'd spend the rest of the night trying to hoik your dress down)

Conversely your waist is too small for it and it's baggier there.

So it's not the right shape.

With a great nork rack, tiny waist and curvy thighs you'd be better in a stretch jersey dress.

Have you seen the phase eight Miracle lace navy dress everyone's raved about?

3/4 sleeves so you don't have to worry about your non-pudgy arms, curves and skims over the body too.

I can't link on my phone but check it out Smile

Pinupgirl · 19/10/2013 23:04

Size down-12 will fit you easy I reckon-you are much slimmer than me!Envy Collectif do lovely hair flowers too-try one of them! They are usually quick to deliver too! I usually get mine in 2 within 2 working days and I am in Scotland.

If you have any enquiries then please do email them-I have found their customer service second to none.

Pinupgirl · 19/10/2013 23:08

Is it the crepe Dolores you are looking at? Mine are the stretch cotton ones. I would email them Monday and they will give you exact measurements as the crepe may not be as stretchy but you need to remember with wiggle dresses-the more fitted the better!

They have to be very neat on the waist and the arse to give the full effect! so you may try it on and think whoa! too tight. But give it a whirl. I always wear spanx with mine and a decent seamless bra.

Collectif also have lovely seamed tights/stockings if you want to go the whole hog!-I don't work for them honestly!
