Flowers for Amber and QueenC today - hope all goes well for you both.

After moaning about a lack of compliments I got two today! One colleague asked if I had got gel nails done - no, it's my own home mani that looks that good Grin and the 3 ladies in my office all said my hair (cut yesterday) looks great and I look younger with a shorter style Yipeeeeee

I do a lot more people watching since joining this thread - saw two great looks over the weekend. One was a lady with a navy dress with brown polka dots worn under a cream trench which had large brown polka dots - sounds like it shouldn't work at all but she looked amazing. Another woman who really caught my eye was wearing indigo skinnies with a navy V - neck fine knit sweater. She had long red hair and fab styling, knee high, block heeled tan boots, a gold and tan shoulder bag, long gold chain with a pendant and lots of fine gold bangles. She looked really classy and stylish.

Yay, I survived!! Thanks for all the well wishes.

Hope you're ok too amber.

OneLittleLady · 30/09/2013 13:27

Not so great at the dietitians. Whilst she was open to the fact that my medications can and have made me put weight on, she still lectured me about not eating three meals a day. Also, I am actually so fat, with such a high BMI, that if I don't lose weight, within a year I will be referred to the weight loss surgical team for a gastric band Sad

Worse than that though, she measured my height and I'm NOT 5' like I have always been led to believe, I'm 4'11'' Sad

Hi everyone. I've been struggling to keep up in the past week - al life got a bit much but is hopefully returning to normal now - catching up properly now. Glad you are okay QueenCadbury and Amber I know I'm new to the thread but I hope you are okay and recover soon - it sounds like you are having a horrible time of it.
I was in Sheffield this weekend and had a bit of a mini shopping trip to myself while DP was away playing music Smile. I bought this although it looks much better in real life! I don't think it photographs well because of the pattern and fabric. I also bought this to wear with a skirt for work.
I also visited the Hepworth gallery in Wakefield which was my highlight of the weekend - I absolutely loved it and would really recommend it if anyone is thinking of going. It's on a river, with boats and barges around it and I was lucky to visit it on a beautiful day, so I think I saw it at its best. Also has a lovely cafe and great shop (where I might have spent a bit too much money). Off to meet a friend now. Hope everyone is having a good day.

I need kitchen advice please...

Dh and I are talking about what to do with the downstairs, we have the tiny kitchen, dining room and conservatory/sun room to play with... and are planning on pinching a bit off the living room (because it's huge)

We want a separate dining room/area, and are wondering whether to put the kitchen in the middle of the house, instead of across the back (where it is now, next to the conservatory)
And then have the utility in the old small kitchen area, and the dining room where the conservatory is now.

The new kitchen would still have a window, as there's a bay window to the side, and it would be open through to the dining area, where there would be big doors and either a glass roof or skylight.

I've always had kitchens at the back of the house, so I'm not sure. Does anyone have a sink, cooker etc on internal walls?

Does any of that make sense?

Umlauf · 30/09/2013 16:16

Drywhiteplease · 30/09/2013 16:34

Unlauf congratulations???what lovely news! Wine I need a champagne bottle
Anni I really see no reason not to have a kitchen in the middle of your downstairs. For me kitchens need space and light.....access to the outside is good but not imperative IMO .

My kitchen/dining a
The rations started today. Lots of dust but it's manageable. I can imagine the finished result already...it's going to be amazing, so excited.

QueenC well done! you're brave Flowers
amber hope you're ok
Shop hope you're not too stressed.

LinusDKD · 30/09/2013 16:51

queenc glad to hear it all went well.

amber thinking of you!

santamarianovella · 30/09/2013 17:04

umlauf wonderful news, congratulations!

santamarianovella · 30/09/2013 17:09

ani i would not do it,its too much work and what if you dont like it?

AmberNectarine · 30/09/2013 17:34

Lovely news Umlauf congratulations!!

One sorry to hear about your less than sympathetic dietician - second opinion?

Have had lumbar puncture - success on 6th attempt. I don't recommend a big needle whacking you in the vertebrae. Ah well.

QueenC - glad you survived. Hope it's not too sore now!

OneLittleLady · 30/09/2013 17:41

Hope you're not too sore now amber am considering asking to see someone else as she was very abrupt, more so than I really feel was acceptable if I'm honest. I think she could have handled things and explained things better than she did even though I do appreciate what she was telling me was factual. I'm joining a gym tonight and a friend of Dp's who has worked as a personal trainer in the past has said he is willing to go to the gym with me and work with me to get where I want to be. It has to be worth a shot because I really don't want to be in this position in a years time and end up with a gastric band that I really don't want. To be honest though, I'm actually more gutted about losing an inch off my height than I am about how fat I really have got, I mean, I knew I was fat but that inch of height loss has really dented my confidence for some reason!

Annianni · 30/09/2013 17:46

Ha ha Santa, the alternative (and what our original plans were) is to have to rebuild the sunroom, raise the roof level and knock through to the kitchen.

So these plans would work out easier and cheaper.

Dh keeps muttering things about having to move drains not my problem :o

Annianni · 30/09/2013 17:49

Amber that sounds awful Thanks

One I'd be going to see someone else.

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2013 17:52

Congratulations Umlauf I was wondering about your imminent big day. Lovely names too!

Anni not sure is my answer! Probably good to keep it at the back, but then if it's loads more work to do that then am not sure again

Annianni · 30/09/2013 17:55

I popped into Gap today with some returns, and saw a nice navy peacoat.
Didn't try it, but the fabric felt quite nice.
It was similar to the Petit Bateau one I tried from AR earlier this year.

santamarianovella · 30/09/2013 18:02

ani thats a toughie! its the kitchen in the middle of the house part that i dont like, but from your posts your dh sounds very knowledgable on construction work,so if i were you id listen to him, atleast you wont take the blame if something goes wrong Grin

santamarianovella · 30/09/2013 18:09

one dont let the height thing affect you,and give the dietitian a chance, going from one dietitian to the other wont help a lot,its a good thing that she believes your medication are a big culprit..

Annianni · 30/09/2013 18:12

He used to be a builder Santa which saves us a fortune

Drywhiteplease · 30/09/2013 18:14

Have ordered This for £17 I thought I've nothing to loose. DP dresses are erratic. Have tried a lot and the fabric lets them down but they are cheap however my all time favourite LBD is from DP last autumn, fabulous crepe fabric, fits me like a dream have worn it loads and CPW probably into the - numbers by now. Will report back, good colour, great style for me, like the leather ......we'll see.
Amber glad it's all over for you today....hope you're not too sore.

AmberNectarine · 30/09/2013 18:15

one doesn't make you any less of a person - hasn't held Kylie back. Funny story actually, when I took my Guccis for repair the guy was doing a couple of pairs of Kylie's shoes. They were custom made and tiny. Anyways she's petite and fabulous - so are you!

QueenCadbury · 30/09/2013 20:34

amber how are you feeling now? Has your headache gone?

anni I personally like having a kitchen that leads easily outside as it makes summer entertaining easier as well as taking out bins/recycling etc. also, does it overlook the garden at the moment so you can see dc playing and will you lose that if you move it?

one I can understand that you feel upset but if you've always been told that you're 5ft are you absolutely sure that her measurements are correct? Do as amber says and channel you inner Kylie.

umlauf congratulations!
