A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

The clarks boots are finally in stock so have just ordered them to try.

Can someone buy this skirt as I think it's lovely but sadly have no occasion to wear it.

Migraine has come back again but I've managed to get it to a dull ache with a combination of painkillers.

Annianni · 26/09/2013 13:56

Lovely skirt Queenc.

I've just got the Maybelline brow drama in the dark brown and it's great.
I got the cherry lip balm they've done, it tastes fab but not keen on the colour on me.

Also got the Vaseline paint the town red, and it's lovely on. A fab sheer colour, nothing like as dark as it looks in the tin.

foxysocks · 26/09/2013 14:13

lovely boots queenc

mig your outfits always sound so fab

am luxe grunge today. cobalt cashmere sweater, grey wang miniskirt, black opaques and black bikers. parka for SRs as it's drizzly here.

loving grunge, am browsing for tartan as have precisely none. would also like black coated skinnies but no idea where to look for them.

shop send back whistles scarf if it's not fab.

QueenCadbury · 26/09/2013 14:21

Someone on the all worn out blog was talking about her new look coated skinnies. You could try there if you wanted a cheap option?

QueenCadbury · 26/09/2013 14:21

anni I'd really like to try that Vaseline. It's exclusive to selfridges isn't it?

MarshaBrady · 26/09/2013 14:28

I'm yet to do the grunge light too Foxy. I need something, just a little thing and I'd be happy. Not sure what yet.

MarshaBrady · 26/09/2013 14:34

Mig love your outfit.

Anni great shopping, as usual!

Have put another shot up on mnv, a dress up one. Not much dressing up really! Last one of back then.

Annianni · 26/09/2013 14:46

QC I've just bought it from Boots.

mignonette · 26/09/2013 14:49

Foxy your outfit sounds cool too-cobalt cashmere-lovely.
I actually don't buy a lot of clothes compared to many of my friends but keep everything that lasts, quality wise. I buy a few 'fashiony' things that sometimes do not last in terms of how they look-some trends date very fast but most of my clothes are fairly adaptable from one year to the next but have maybe a detail or styling that is of the moment. I'll either go for a 'now' colour or a 'now' style' but rarely both together. So I'd buy into the pink that is everywhere but not the pink coat. I'll wear plaid but not a literal translation of the fashion. I'd wear a kilt but not a tartan kilt although don't get me wrong, I adore tartan kilts. It's just that I like to buy good clothes but cannot afford to buy into trends too much so I tend to spend on things that will last. Bags and shoes are my £££.

I do think that something will have to change in how the industry brackets up the year though. Many designers are having to put out at least ten collections a year and they are going to meet themselves coming back trend wise at this rate. Maybe designers will do the Prada/Celine thing of slowly building upon their look so each item in each collection compliments some of what has gone before rather than doing the skinny leg/crop top one season then midi skirts and neon sweats the next.

Queen That sounds a rotten headache. well, more than a headache. Those boots are very versatile and will transcend the seasons. I love Clarks. The Ted Baker skirt is definitely something I'd wear.

RE Grunge, I like the 'Luxe Grunge' look w/ button down plaid shirts and pencil skirts in check. Or smart smart w/ parka/Barbour over the top, the 'English woman goes to the country' look.

Anni Plum + Silver+ dark jean= lovely sounding palette. I bought one of those Maybelline cute little lip balms. Mine is clear. I love the candy coloured packaging. I am a lipbalm addict w/ a pile of no less than seven next to my bed including Carmex tins in cherry and plain, Blistex in the navy tin, Burts Bees, Rose & Co violet and a vanilla and a weird one from Peru that DH's daughter bought me which has Coco leave paste in it Shock. Kind of like rubbing topical anaesthesia on your mouth.

Annianni · 26/09/2013 16:07

Thanks Mig, my wardrobe for a/w is lots of navy, plum, and grey.

Drywhiteplease · 26/09/2013 16:34

Foxy like the outfit......after reading about cobalt/black combo on NaP via worn out I'm thinking of wearing cobalt tomorrow. How's the work going?
Queenc why why why did you link that beautiful skirt? I like a statement skirt for a more dressed down night out....Christmas dos coming up?
Mig your outfit sounds lovely.

I need to learn restraint and waiting for the sales from you lot....it's hard!

Failed with my red skirt again this morning.....just doesn't look right, v worried I've wasted £89 ....need to have a real try on tonight maybe.

So it turns out 5/6 yr olds love my animal slippersGrin keep feeling little hands stroking them ! Today I was asked whether they were made of real leopard fur which prompted a great discussion about endangered species and we learnt the word "deceptive" ( as in " hippos are deceptive, they may look like big,fat lady animals who wallow in mud all day but infact they're deceptive because they can run very fast and do a lot of damage!"........"no xxx thy can't climb trees!") who ever said it was JUST Fashion!!!!!!! My numeracy classes often go "Mrs dry wants to buy a pair of new shoes........" Grin

santamarianovella · 26/09/2013 17:34

dry it hard , but doable, put everything on your bed and work outfits form what you have, mix and match as much as you can,you will see that whats in your wardrobe is enough,
and my dd,did the same to a stranger in the supermarket the other day,she kept stroking her loafers and saying meow Grin

AmberNectarine · 26/09/2013 18:22

Oh, forgot - to those who asked what I wore with my Gucci shoes the other night, it was Freda leather skinnies, burgundy long sleeved top, black blazer and red/black McQueen skull scarf. Quite liked it, although got the heel of my shoe stuck in pavement crack and shredded the leather. They have been for repair and it is barely noticeable now (and they also have rubber soles now - why leather soles on shoes?!)

OneLittleLady · 26/09/2013 18:28

I'm in grunge mode today, well, at least I think I am. I'm wearing, greey acid wash skinnies, black velvet Dr Martens, a dark blue long sleeve t-shirt with a purple tartan sleeveless shirt over the top.

Annianni · 26/09/2013 19:33

I've just found an email that matches sent me on Monday, with a code for 15% off an order, minimum spend of £250.
It's valid till 13th of October (i think)

Does anyone want to try the code?
Or have they been sent to everyone?

I'll not use it Sad

LinusDKD · 26/09/2013 19:51

dry don't get rid of your skirt! It's beautiful!

QueenC I hope you feel better!

mig DM used to wear a lot of Iceberg in the '90! I didn't know that brand still existed.

shop I hope you manage to find your ideal house soon. Have you started looking yet?

LinusDKD · 26/09/2013 20:11

Oh, forgot to ask. Have any of you received an e-mail from Pinterest saying that one of the things you pinned has reduced in price?

This morning I got an e-mail saying that the HoF skirt I had pinned had reduced in price.

Not sure if I like this. On the one hand it's good to know about discounts, but on the other hand I like the 'anonimity' of Pinterest.

santamarianovella · 26/09/2013 20:53

linus i received an email, about someone going on and on about the furture of his son,and then mentioning promotions being advertised on pinterest, in a tasteful way according to the email

Decameron · 26/09/2013 21:09

Linus, I got an email from HOF about something I pinned too.

Anni are you sure you wouldn't use that code? There are a few things I'd like but don't want to be greedy and ask for your code!

Sorrry you have to move, Shop. I'm collecting DD1's M&S stuff tomorrow, thanks again.

Boden leopard print shoes too uncomfortable so going back but success with the cobalt J Crew tippi.

Novice, that was scary with your DD.

I really enjoyed seeing all the photos, thanks!

Decameron · 26/09/2013 21:10

Sleep, I used to frequent the Leopard Lounge too!

MarshaBrady · 26/09/2013 21:14

Decam Leopard Loungr rings a bell! Where is it?

Drywhiteplease · 26/09/2013 21:18

linus I won't get rid of the red skirt! I love it and have got to wear it. Have made a red skirt pin board with help from QueenC and have had a good try on tonight. I have grey and white breton and a black and white infact every possible colour way grey jumper, black jumper, animal print slippers, animal print belt or animal scarf obv won't wear at same time , a host of cream shirts, lace, frill, masculine......I just wish I hadn't binned my camel v neck merino sweater. Think I'm sorted now.

QueenCadbury · 26/09/2013 21:21

You could always buy a new camel sweater Wink

Decameron · 26/09/2013 21:21

Fulham, Marsha! Did we boogie beside each other to Lauryn Hill there?!

MarshaBrady · 26/09/2013 21:23
