A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.
Continuing on from here

Sorry Shop, of course feel free to pm me! I also have to tell you about yesterday's crush. She's an economist. She talked about the global economy, what's happening, forecasting in a funny, insightful engaging way. She was just amazing. With no notes or slides for 1 hour. It's not often that the plum role of key note speaker is given to a woman. She had the whole audience eating out of the palm of her hands. Beautiful woman, great hair and shoes. Slim but the peplum jacket really didn't do her any favours. But I decided I could forgive that because I was in love. Oh I was panting at her by the end of that glorious hour. Grin.

McNally · 25/09/2013 21:43

Can't remember if someone's posted this but Vogue has the Isabel Marant for H&M collection.

Looking forward to those photos Anni!

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 21:47

Love that Novice I met a woman who worked for an incentives agency in the UK who did the most mind blowing talk about how to incentivise different generations of kids. How we are brought up and what we expect from a manager. So latchkey kids are very self sufficient and don't need much mentoring, but the younger generation get their arses wiped by their mothers at home, so need walking through most projects in minute detail...... Very interesting, very easy to relate to, looked fab, super dynamic. Amazing talk that 10 years on I still haven't forgotten......
Will PM you x

Meant the other Vogue, of course!

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2013 21:47

McNally good link. Wow some of that stuff looks so close to the mainline stuff. I'm not sure if I want it now. I like the coat, but it irks me for some reason!

Annianni · 25/09/2013 21:49

I've had to explain lesbian/gay to Ds1 (9)
That was fun.

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2013 21:52

Novice she sounds incredibly skilled and talented. Someone linked a talk on here once by an American talking about the disappearing middle classes. She was really great.

OneLittleLady · 25/09/2013 21:52

I'm not too keen on any of the collab stuff tbh. It just doesn't really appeal, maybe because I know the bulk of it is not going to look nice on me as it's just the wrong shapes

Annianni · 25/09/2013 21:58

I like the coat, a couple of the jackets and a sweatshirt.

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 21:59

I wouldn't fight the queues for any of that.......

So we may have decided to sell our house this evening Confused

Exciting. Where are you going Shop?

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 22:07

That's what we don't know yet Marsha It feels time to move on...... am going to get the house valued and take it from there. A bit closer to the station / schools - we'll see. Prices round here are crazy so we may have to downsize for location and then move again in 5 years or so. We'll see.

Drywhiteplease · 25/09/2013 22:10

Wow that is harsh! Psycho mum I think.....or a really awful teenager.
Shop are you really going to sell? Is it neighbours wanting to extend? Did you object to pp and it was passed anyway? That sucks, really feel sorry for you. X

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 22:16

I think it's been in the back of my mind for a while Dry and now the planning has gone in, it may have cemented my decision.
Our house is stunning, but on a very busy road, and it's scary with a toddler. If I could lift our house and put it at the end of a quiet street we'd be fine. But also DH's new job is a tough commute for him. We're going to get ours valued and then see what's out there. It feels as though it might be time for a change.

Drywhiteplease · 25/09/2013 22:24

I guess change is not always a bad thing.....sometimes we just need a little shove. Hope you're ok.
And send the scarf back....if it's not right you'll never wear it.

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 22:25

Flowers Dry Night all

Well it certainly sounds like a build up of reasons none of which are enough on their own Shop but together......Hopefully you'll find a another great place.

Novice Do you ever get a chance/time to go into schools and talk to young girls about your work? That would be very inspirational for them to have a strong female role model like you in front of them.

McNally I like the red print sweatshirt and the twenties style black/grey print dress here but I imagine the quality up close won't be great. Not sure i want to wear clothing that is so similar to the childrens styles either. Mini rock chicks? No, I'll leave that to Jade Jaggers old before their time daughters (bitch I am).

Shop I am intrigued by your comment Grin.

QueenCadbury · 26/09/2013 07:32

Morning voguettes. I had to go to bed at 8 last night as had a migraine. Just had a quick look at pin and loving all the new photos. Will try and catch up here later.

MrsRadicchio · 26/09/2013 07:49

It was me who liked the cardigan shop. Perhaps you could bring it to the mu?

QueenCadbury · 26/09/2013 09:42

So I'm a bit late to the party but well done dry. I believe in telling them how it is so although thy are 6 and 7 they know quite a lot. I've also just bought a sex education book for them so that they can look at at it as anything arises.

novice that GP sounds seriously scary and I'm glad you're getting a 2nd opinion. When she was 2, dd had a biscuit with hazelnuts in and quite clearly said to me that her tongue felt big and fat and went really quiet and pale. I panicked and rang 999 who were fab and although she was fine they took us to hospital anyway. The staff there were totally dismissive and said that she probably just choked a bit Hmm. I ended up paying to see someone privately. Luckily she's had all the testing and is fine and has no allergies.

mignonette · 26/09/2013 10:50

Morning all. Queen hope you're feeling better. Migraines are a bitch. I've just had a quick scan through the Milan fashion week press. Lisa Armstrong and Luke Leitch (Telegraph) have good overviews, writing about Milans panic about defectors to London FW (apparently a large Italian fashion house are planning to show here) and what they are trying to do to develop the next generation of Italian designers, something that apparently the big Italian houses are a bit protectionist about.

I liked the Iceberg show, some lovely wrapped chiffon skirts in pale blue and white and also a new designer Fausto Puglisi from Italy. There's too much fur in Italian shows for me though.

This Iceberg 'Giuliana' tote is pretty for next Spring and whilst i was sorting out some pins for deletion I found this photo of Kate Moss from 1993. How fresh and contemporary the clothing still looks. Metallics, checks and pastels are all there this and next season.

Today I am wearing my Creatures Of The Wind pink embellished skirt with a grey and cream plaid fitted shirt that is ancient. It sounds an odd combination but looks okay. My shoes are an old pair of Ferragamo black pointy toe flats with the silver buckles and my bag is my Cappellino tan satchel carry bag.

Annianni · 26/09/2013 13:31

It's quiet today!

Hope you feel better Queenc.

I've ordered a stripe sweater from Gap (eve worn out's fault)
A plum sweatshirt from Gap.

A silver grey sweater from Whistles... the discount works on sale items.
And some 3/4 length black jeans.
I'll link when they arrive.

Oh, and a double bed from JL for Ds2.
Hopefully I'll get to share a bed with dh sometime soon!

Annianni · 26/09/2013 13:33
