A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.
Continuing on from here

Trying to remember the name that is. I went through a stage where we'd go out to those bars each weekend.

Drywhiteplease · 26/09/2013 21:31

Don't be naughty QueenC!!!!

Shop are you out there? Hope you're ok.

QueenCadbury · 26/09/2013 21:34

Leopard lounge rings a bell with me dec and if it was in Fulham I my well have gone there in my London days. I just tried to google it and it also came up with crazy larrys. Did you ever go there?

Decameron · 26/09/2013 21:34

My brother lived there so went to Hoxton a bit. Used to go to Brogans im Fulham Broadway a lot though, it was like a Trinity reunion in London. Little did I know I'd be back there doing Amanda's Action Kids 10 years later!

Decameron · 26/09/2013 21:36

Yes, QueenC, loads! Now we drive by going to soft play!

QueenCadbury · 26/09/2013 21:43

I went there lots from about 96-98 when I lived in Chelsea and Putney. Lots of army boys as I remember!

shopafrolic · 26/09/2013 21:48

Still here, lurking. Good house valuation today. Lots to discuss, back with fashion chat soon.

Decameron · 26/09/2013 21:49

I moved here in 97 so we overlapped! Don't remember army guys but was always with dh (only boyfriend then!).

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 26/09/2013 23:11

Wassup laydeeez? Trying to catch up via phone in the bath, but seriously overheating.

Oh my! All this talk of Fulham - I was born in Chelsea and lived in Fulham (where most of my paternal side of the family remain) until 1989. It has changed massively since my youth, but will be forever home. I remember Crazy Larry's - never went but Dsis used to. My dad owned a pub on King's Rd for about 10 years, good times and I do miss it.
In other news, tried on Next's homage to Baukjen's leather pants and they are amazing. No bagging/wrinkliness and they look like the real deal. I did size down though and they fit perfectly. Love 'em. Also got my Velvet Rope lipstick in 'Entourage' from Space NK today as it's just arrived in. Real deep, velvety plum - it's divine.
Going to extract myself now from boiling bath, cool down and try to have a proper catch up with y'all.
Back soon.

QueenCadbury · 27/09/2013 07:46

Oh dear. The joint account has gone overdrawn again. Oops. So I've just received my regular 'fiscally responsible' talking to. To be fair he is right Grin

BrandyAlexander · 27/09/2013 08:57

Oh dear QueenC.Smile

I had a fantastic day yesterday. My 3rd new girl crush of the week. Last night was dinner dance. Head hurts this morning and have big meeting. oops!

mignonette · 27/09/2013 09:21

Dry and Santa The thought of your children's shoe stroking will keep me smiling all day. How lovely. Show your children the Charlotte Olympia children's shoe range-baby leopard, black cat and spider shoes. ££ but so gorgeous!

I called by my friends house en route to the pub last night. They have a small baby and my friends looked so full of yearning at the mention of the pub word that i stayed in to look after her baby and she went off to the pub. I so love how babies express emotion w/ their whole bodies-arms and legs wriggling like a starfish w/ sheer joy. So i had a lovely evening of bathing a six month old and her smell and footed PJ's. Everything fluffy and soft.

Linus I received an email saying Pin were experimenting w/ targeted low key adverts. I guess they have to fund the site somehow as it has got too big to manage 'free'. The email we all get each Thursday of 'pins' you might like' are already targeted according to what we have all been pinning. I got architecture/gardening/Fashion weeks/food this week. What do you all get sent?

Grumpy My son was born at the Chelsea & Westminster hospital and I used to work in various locations between Ladbroke Grove and the HIV clinic at the C&W. I went to the 'Cloneherne pub' (as it was called) on a few occasions Grin. I used to go to irish nights at the Archway Tavern and the Spinning Wheel in West Ealing a lot too.

Novice A bacon sandwich and loads of fluids for you I think!

Has anybody been looking at Paris Fashion Week? Anything caught your eye?

I love camel sweaters and camel skirts and yes, it looks very very good w/ red Dry. Am off to look at your red skirt board.

I am wearing yesterdays outfit again (Godfrey Bloom would call me a slut) but with a different shirt in cream and navy fine pinstripe (very subtle faded stripe) with that pinkish skirt. I wore my old Levis narrow legs w/ a SoftGrey faded red sweatshirt and ACNE boots to my pub/baby evening. Nice to wear old jeans that aren't all stiff.

MrsRadicchio · 27/09/2013 10:16

Hello everyone,

Novice what a scary experience with your dd, give me chills to think about it. Glad she is ok and hope you will get good advice when you next see the dr.

Mig that is nice to do baby sitting do you fancy coming over here

Dry love your red skirt boards. What is it about the red skirt that makes you feel you can't wear it?

Shop that is exciting about poss house move, though from your posts it does sound like you love the house...a case of head winning over heart, maybe?

QueenC am interested to hear how you get on with the boots. Also how was your MC training?

Marsha I love your pin pics, what a glam 20 yo!!

Santa have you decided re LV scarf? I couldn't open the links for some reason.

I also tried on M&S coated jeans, too skinny for me but seem like a good option otherwise. Thanks for the comments re leather peg trousers. I have actually seen a pleather pair (or is that gross?) which I will probably go for.

Linus I love the sound of your mum's style!

RubyLovesShopping · 27/09/2013 10:40

Novice my eldest also has a v real nut allergy and we have been down the route of allergy testing and carry epipen everywhere although my neighbour who is a gp says immediate medical attention more effective than the concentration if the drug inside, we still take it everywhere. When the younger two dc are old enough will have them tested too but so far ok.

The navy coat hunt continues, saw a lovely one at the outlet shop but not in my size, have pinned it Marsha it was v lovely and as it was last years very reasonably priced.
Anni I also ordered the gap jumpers that eve worn out had, the navy one is lovely but the stripe one washed me out and is going back.
Waiting for big clothes orders from boden and next for the dc today just not as much fun as stuff for myself!
Oh I did order some grey skinnies in the HoF 25% event but will pick up tomorrow.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 27/09/2013 12:03

MrsR if you're going to go for pleather, I'd recommend the Next 'leather' front/ponte back ones with the ankle zips. Not only are they a steal at £22, but they're actually pleather front panels on heavy ponte leggings, so feel very supportive and comfy - no horrid un-linedness.

Novice that must have been really scary. My nephew is allergic to everything (although not so bad now at 15) and his red puffy eyes and general snottiness were always an indicator. He also has asthma, so his reactions were rather dramatic - it was quite helpful that his eyes would swell because at least we knew what was coming and could prepare. Your doctor sounds like an arrogant troll - I echo the others when they say go elsewhere.

QueenC I feel you! In our line of work it's feast or famine and I used to feel so guilty when times got lean in a 'why did I spend so much last month?' kind of way. Nowadays I take the 'long time dead' view - money will frequently be tight, but the fact I splurged £60 on another new top a couple of weeks ago really isn't going to make a massive amount of difference. I think most of us know when to reign it in a bit and nothing makes you feel worse than prolonged periods of austerity. I need to treat myself sometimes or I would be a nasty, resentful bitch or worse, a martyr.

Mig I was born at what is now C&W too, but waaay back in the day when it was St Stephen's.

Completely unconnected to anything, but has anyone seen the Rihanna/River Island collab? What a lot of nasty, nasty clothes. Ugh. That is all.

MarshaBrady · 27/09/2013 12:36

MrsR go for it! And thanks Smile. I felt too skinny at school so late teens and beyond everything felt much more fun. Was liberating to leave the small towns behind. Now I am always drawn to the biggest cities. Initially wanted to live in NYC, Decam and others who have it must have been great, it is such a great city.

Mig I haven't looked yet, will check it out. I completely agree that designers do so many collections now. Line, diffusion and resort, and collaborations. All prices I suppose.

Linus my pin email is under this name and I never look at it and have forgotten the password. Am sure there's a zillion emails by now.

MarshaBrady · 27/09/2013 12:39

So sorry to hear about all the allergies, sounds terrifying, poor little dc.

Grumpy I'm the same I have £ to spend of not much on clothes. So tend to splurge when I have it rather than save up for things. It has changed how I shop. If I was on a steady salary if probably buy more frequently but not high amounts each time.

Shop sounds good!

MarshaBrady · 27/09/2013 12:40

Thanks Ruby sounds good, will check out your pin. Thanks

OneLittleLady · 27/09/2013 12:50

Allergies are scary. My sister has to carry an epi pen but the doctors don't even know what it is she's allergic to. She had a really scary reaction to something about a year ago where her entire body swelled by over a dress size Sad

I'm also very allergic to a lot of things, silly things it seems like perfectly innocent plasters of all things. It makes things very difficult sometimes, like after I had my c-section and they tried to use the massive elastoplast over my scar as normal and in my drug addled state, I was screaming at them that I'm allergic to plasters. I ended up with a massive wad of cotton wool taped to me with micropore tape which is the only thing I can use to hold dressings on Hmm

QueenCadbury · 27/09/2013 13:27

C&W was were I had my first job. I lived in accommodation on the Fulham road. Such an excellent location to have kings road, high st ken and Knightsbridge within walking distance. I'd always loved shopping but having money for the first time after being a student and all those shops was great!

mrsr the MC training was good thanks. More of an informtion day and I've had my interview so I have 2 more training days in October before I start properly. I'm very excited.

Dh texted me to say he loves me still but hates my shopoholicism Grin. When I first gave up work I was 'paid' a regular amount but then as time went by I started using my account and the joint account for everything (myself, household expenditure, kids etc) so I guess I've been used to having an unlimited pot of money. We're going back to me being 'paid' monthly for me to use on me but no more than that so I will actually have to budget/save and the joint account will be strictly kids/household. So less shopping for me.

BrandyAlexander · 27/09/2013 13:28

Hi everyone, thanks for the allergy stories. It's very supportive of you. I am hoping to fix up her appointment today for sometime next month.

I am on way home so will be able to do school run. Dd will be stoked.Smile

So I made a huge discovery yesterday! I was looking for black Prada back to go with yesterday's outfit (lk Bennett ariella dress in red) and couldn't find it. I opened a box to rediscover a beautiful colbalt blue Aspinal! I had totally forgotten I owned it so its like having a brand new bag. Hurrah! (Errr I won't be telling dh as he may not see it in the same wayWink)

mignonette · 27/09/2013 13:38

Queen how funny to think we may have been working near each other. Glad you enjoyed the training.

Novice That is true shopping in your closet. And how lovely for you both to do the school run. I rarely made the collection time so I remember how happy my two were to see me.

QueenCadbury · 27/09/2013 13:48

Being fiscally responsible doesn't stop me browsing. This is so not me but for some reason I love it

Drywhiteplease · 27/09/2013 14:14

Hello.....I'm having a BRILLIANT day! Why? Got to work, school closed....roof had fallen in! Grin... Felt like a kid on a snow day Grin.... I was all for a team meeting in the pub at 9am Hmm but no one bit.....so;

I went to M and s with the brocade skirt I pinned and you all told me to keep. For some reason it didn't feel right, so I was going to return it. Then....I saw it again on the mannequin and that it had almost sold out so brought it home again! twit
On the way out I stopped dead in my v fast tracks because I'd spotted Shop's checked coat, did a very flamboyant about turn and accidentally slapped an old lady Shock
Then I came home to DH who was working here before going shooting clays with clients the life and we went to the pub at last for lunch.
The sun is shining...I love an unexpected day.

MrsR re the red skirt....I just couldn't think how to style it, Black and red having been deemed a no no. However, thanks to Pinterest, I'm sorted and wore it for 1hr at work today with a black and white breton also had my beret to complete the look as I was teaching French!

Novice an unexpected handbag!! How lovely. Do tell us about your latest style girl crush.

QueenC We have a joint acc for house stuff (DH's salary) and I have my own acc (my salary) for me. In our house what's his is ours and what's mine (considerably less than his I might add) is MINE!!!! At lunch I tried the " I've spent my Botox fund on clothes" hint, he wasn't biting Grin

mignonette · 27/09/2013 14:25

Am laughing at Dry whose idea of a brilliant day includes slapping old ladies Wink!

That pub lunch sounds just the ticket.

We have our own accounts plus a shared savings. I frequently have DH's ATM card in my possession though or he'll have mine. We don't really have a his/hers thing. I tend to chivvy him onto buying stuff for himself as he will put himself last. I have a credit card for emergencies and travel but to be honest if I cannot afford it I do not buy it. I'm not one for using CC's for clothing and stuff like that. I have no store cards as they never work out cheaper even w/ discount as people end up spending more I think.
