A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

shopafrolic · 24/09/2013 13:36

Careful Olleybear - some of the RRPs are inaccurate so make sure you double check if planning to buy.

MrsR I like the trousers but given the inevitably high price tag I think I would go for a more classic cut, lots of slim leg jeans style ones around at the moment, I think they won't date as quickly....

Am having mani/pedi at a new place in Hampstead-the most amazing massage chair-bliss!

QueenCadbury · 24/09/2013 14:35

Just had personal training session. I can hardly move Grin

santamarianovella · 24/09/2013 14:39

mrsR i love them,I think the trousers are very "you", would love to see how you wear them.

mig its true, marant designs are inspired by american culture, with a very measured dose of parisian style, which i find very appealing, her rodeo collection is my fav,
i read somewhere ,that she has a very french attitude towards celebs, that she does not send freebies,if you like it then buy it like the rest,if that is true then she is a hero in my book!

linus i went to the lanvin collaboration, it was mad!,the marni one was more calmer, bought a sandal and dress

shopafrolic · 24/09/2013 14:47

MrsR can totally see you in those.
Waves to Novice glad the trip is going well.
The coated James twiggy jeans are lovely - but too small! Which is weird because I have two other pairs in the same size - but these don't fit. So back they go.
Will continue my hunt for dark brown or dark green jeans.......

santamarianovella · 24/09/2013 14:49

well done novice

queen that is a good sign!

sleep you earned it girl!

marsha you did the right thing, you want to feel good every time you wear the coat, not think about the length or how the buttons are.

shop please pics!

shopafrolic · 24/09/2013 15:05

Pics of my big arse squeezed into a pair of jeans that don't fit Santa ?
No chance!

santamarianovella · 24/09/2013 15:25

if its any consolation, coated jeans are always small.mine are tight,if i sit i stop breathing Grin

Drywhiteplease · 24/09/2013 15:56

MrsR they're brave......I would look hideous in them! I'm sure (from what others have said) you wouldn't.
Shop Glad you found the twin set for your "SIL" Wink

Thanks for the red skirt styling ideas. I have ivory shirts. Love animal print and red (have slippers), also navy too......have zero navy in my wardrobe, weird because it's a colour that I love but I guess I've always gone black/grey/ stone as neutral bases.
Would animal print shoes and scarf be a bit too matchy?

Drywhiteplease · 24/09/2013 15:58

Oh Novice love the sound of your outfits and the spa!
QueenC no pain no gain......you're brave.
Sleep I love a massage chair.

mignonette · 24/09/2013 16:02

Santa I read that too about Marant, that she doesn't celeb worship. Good for her. I do like the sound of her little woodland cabin that she weekends in. It has no running water or inside toilet. Very un Parisien.

Novice Flowers Flowers Flowers. Well done you x. And glad to see a name check to Pigalles. I have a pair in black and a navy suede pair. They give stature and confidence.

MrsR I'm probably not the best person to ask re leather trousers because I don't wear them but I'm sure there'll be some good suggestions from the other MNVers.

Have been doing major Pinterest cull as it is getting out of control so slowly eliminating boards and deleting pins, trying to edit everything down.

Today I am wearing my ice blue and black plaid wool pants, a pale grey sweatshirt from Uniqlo and my black/yellow Choo stiletto. Sounds lke too many colours but it works better than it sounds.

mignonette · 24/09/2013 16:07

Dry When I want to wear two animal prints (say two leopard items) I make sure the scale of the print is different even if the colours match, so a larger leopard print w/ a smaller one. That way you avoid that bourgeois matchy matchy thing. I think different animal prints can look good together.

Drywhiteplease · 24/09/2013 16:17

Ooooh I quite like a bit of bourgeois though Mig
Sounds like Marant may be living in my garden!Grin

I'm feeling very ethereal Wink.....have changed into a calming palette of pale sludges;

Khaki skinnies
Blush chiffon/Lacy blouse
Stone biker jacket how did I live without this
Butterfly scarf here
Suede stone boots voila

mignonette · 24/09/2013 16:33

Dry I'm sorry i didn't mean that as an insult Smile. I quite like that 'Bon Chic Bon Genre' look too. I think Marant may well have seen your shed pin. For she is channelling Husband-Of-Dry.

Dry you are so far ahead of the game fashion wise that you are now dressed in S/S 14. The look is going to be neutrals and natural pastels. Think Farrow and Ball paint chart neutrals.

Annianni · 24/09/2013 16:36

Shop have a look at the measurements of the coated jeans on the outnet... The 31 has something like a 29 waist!?!

foxysocks · 24/09/2013 16:42

arrrrrrgh

today was going brilliantly until one of them dropped a ladder into the back windows. glass EVERYWHERE including in my kale that was in the colander on the side ready for washing. had to scoop the kids up and escape upstairs while they fix the mess, and one poor lad has been dispatched to find more kale for me #middleclassbuilders

i love the marant look but i can't stand designer collabs.

Drywhiteplease · 24/09/2013 16:46

Not taken as an insult Mig.... Taking piss out of self, used to dress as a Sloane in the 1990s.....no more, oh no I'm much more with it now still a bit classic though, never a rock chic Grin
"Ahead of the game"???? Moi hehe ...pure coincidence I assure you!

Drywhiteplease · 24/09/2013 16:48

Oh no Foxy that's bad! imagines builder driving van round s West going "what the hellos sodding kale?"!!!

mignonette · 24/09/2013 16:55

Oh Foxy Not the kale.......

Never admit to coincidence Dry. Just wander up and down outside Vogue House looking nonchalant.

foxysocks · 24/09/2013 17:39

I KNOW mig. my kaaaaaaale. dry that's exactly what has just happened, he has returned with some tired looking flowers for me instead. bless i feel a bit bad for him, the others are cross they had to work late to fix his mess.

have looked at whistles but there is nothing i want i don't think. have been disappointed with my striped top, it doesn't wash very well or sit nicely for a full day.

gorgeous outfit dry

do they have any others sizes in the skinnies shop? sometimes they come back in stock, you can still add OOS to wishlist and get an alert. the colour looked good for you.

marsha you did the right thing re the (non) pea coat.

ciao lovelies, I need to get a wash on and out and clean downstairs before my evening class starts.

mignonette · 24/09/2013 17:44

Oh bless him Foxy. At least one of the advantages of being a builder is that when a mistake is made you are given a dressing down or everyone shouts at you , it is put right and then it is over. Whereas in the NHS/other workplace it drags on and on.....Life is more straight forward for tradesmen according to my DH who has experience of both.

LinusDKD · 24/09/2013 19:32

I'm watching Tom Kerridge Proper Pub Food (taped it as I didn't want to watch it on fast day) and 10 minutes in and I have already ordered the book that accompanies the series. Blush
