A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Good news about the shoes Sleep
I think I've come out in hives but I found a twinset on the Lands End site. Thanks all!

I love twinsets! Have you looked at woolovers. I haven't ordered anything from there myself but lots of MN seem to rate them.

QueenCadbury · 24/09/2013 09:26

peterhahn but no pale blue.

Disclaimer: I have never shopped there in my life. It came up on a google search.

QueenCadbury · 24/09/2013 09:28

What about good old m&s?

How have I survived 39 years without owning a blazer? I bought a gap navy one recently and I'm in love and wonder how I ever did without it. Wore it on Friday night and then wore it to school yesterday afternoon with a meh outfit of just a striped tee and jeans and got complimented. May get a grey one too. I'm converted!

QueenCadbury · 24/09/2013 09:29

dry is your skirt similar to that coast one I had? I found it difficult to style and so just wore with black.

LinusDKD · 24/09/2013 09:51

dry I like the way they styled it on the Hobbs website with an ivory blouse.

MarshaBrady · 24/09/2013 09:54

Dry you're brave telling that story, the whole deck of cards could crash! Grin

Ok am going in to Liberty again today. Think I'll take back the coat. It's just too long and I hate doing it up.

shopafrolic · 24/09/2013 09:55

Thanks QueenC - she likes the cashmere one from Pure so she's happy. Thanks for your help lovely ladies.
I love a blazer QueenC makes you look as though you've made an effort even if you haven't really......

Love that scarf Shop, great buy. I've got

MrsSheep love the flats, love the shine.

Linus great outfit I have a Filippa K t too, greatly reduced from Atterley Rd.

Justa really like the Plumo one.

Good news on the shoes Sleep.

I must admit I had to check what a twinset actually meant!

MarshaBrady · 24/09/2013 10:05

I was thinking about it, but it is sooo painful showing them pics whilst they scroll around on their ipads then tell me there's no stock.

shopafrolic · 24/09/2013 10:17

Sorry Justa that was last night wasn't it - did I reply? I liked the Plumo and the Whistles

Hmmm I just wanted to add my annoyance with brandalley! Spirals are RRP £145 so their 50% off at £125 is taking bad maths skills to extremes. Are they even allowed to do that?

MrsS I have a soft spot for M&S, they are a UK institution, I think everyone wants them to do well.

Just I like all the bags you linked but not sure the Plumo one would work that well cross body. It looks lovely though.

Love hearing the husbands' quotes though Marsha your DH's were worse than I expected!! I can see that they will have caused doubt about the boots.

MrsRadicchio · 24/09/2013 10:36

Oh Dry I meant to say leopard print. I think it goes well with red.

LinusDKD · 24/09/2013 10:53

interesting

mignonette · 24/09/2013 11:06

Linus There was a feature on the impending Marant H&M collaboration in last months Harpers Here.

I read an interview w/ her in Sundays press. I think she is getting a bit above herself in claiming that the wedge trainer is 'her' creation and that she wanted to include them in the H&M collaboration to 'remind' people of this.

Buffalo were selling this design in the early 90's (Spice Girls wore them) and Marant appears to have refined an existing design, not invented them.

I have one or two pieces of Marant- a Coatigan (which pulls terribly), the Otway boots (so named because of an assistant mispronouncing "They look hot this way" apparently) and a star print shirt. I think she is extremely clever and savvy at repackaging what people already wear or used to then selling it back to them. That American football T dress for example- how many American college girls wear them as nightshirts?

mignonette · 24/09/2013 11:08

Dry I agree w/ MrsR. Red and a bit of Leop goes well as in this outfit. I like pale blue w/ red too- a pale blue woollen sweater or soft long sleeve T would look good. Or combine a few cream shades- a winter white top w/ a cream blazer w/ a tan or dark brown belt.

BrandyAlexander · 24/09/2013 11:53

Morning all! Bloody jet lagHmm I have been up for the last hour and have given up.

Speech and panel went really well yesterday. I felt all glowy afterwards because a number of people came up and told me that my speech was the highlight of the day.Grin I also made friends with this amazing amazing woman. She's a CFO of a financial institution, so damn smart, she's 51 looks 15 years younger and is sooo nice. Stunning figure, beautiful woman and beautifully dressed. Instant crush! GrinNot least because she said lovely things about my speech and my outfit.Wink

For my speech, i wore my pink maxmara dress, louboutin pigalle, black Armani jacket (its 31 degrees outside but air con on full blast inside!) and clutching my Balenciaga.

In the afternoon, we then did a spa event with our female clients. Hotel we are at is a spa and golf place and my massage was amazing. I have to confess to lounging round the outdoor pool at the spa place for a little bit wearing this bikini. Don't think I will tell dh it wasn't all work work work!

Casual dinner last night with clients so wore an emerald green cowl neck top and pale blue banana republic Martin pants (I should really get those in every colour as amazing fit if you have a curvy arse!).

I begin the long trek back mid afternoon today. I bought the kids an ipad in New York a couple of weeks ago so highlight of my day today will be face timing them.Smile

I giggled a lot yesterday when sleep wondered how I hold down an important job. Dh says its one of the 7 modern wonders or mysteries of this world. Snort!

MrsRadicchio · 24/09/2013 11:57

Can I ask what people think of leather peg leg trousers? I am drawn to them. And what would you wear with them??

MrsRadicchio · 24/09/2013 11:58

Waves to Novice

MrsRadicchio · 24/09/2013 12:01

Novice saw this skirt or even better this dress and thought of you.

LinusDKD · 24/09/2013 13:25

Interesting article mig! I have never bought something from an H&M collaboration as the quality always seemed below standard and I'm not sure I am tempted now.

I like those leather trousers MrsR, reminds me a bit of what DM used to wear in the '80. Leather trousers and a chunky knit.

novice your trip sounds fab!

MarshaBrady · 24/09/2013 13:30

MrsR I think you'd look fabulous in those.

I took the Sessun back, felt good. Its slight wrongness (too long and double buttons) would have bugged me. So need a proper coat now, will do the Marant for a couple of months whilst I'm looking.
