A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.
Continuing on from here

ahhh ,mumsnet just hates me today!

needastrongone · 11/09/2013 21:57

Love the boots shop

I hope your DS is ok foxy, if its any consolation my DS went to A&E about 6 times before he was 3, I was paranoid about social services contacting me! He was fine though.

Similar experiences with PTA here, I got involved with the Governing Body side of things eventually, far more professional and you do actually make a difference.

mrsraddicchio - brilliant! I really like that skirt, thank you. Have surfed all over this afternoon in spare moments, I have found some super skirts, but no plaid that I like. I'll take a punt though on the Zara one you linked. Smile

Still miserable here, went to check our pony this evening, he looked at me in disgust that he was out in this weather, big wuss!

carrie74 · 11/09/2013 22:00

Loving that second Scandi look especially santa. I love a chunky polo neck, me.

Have just taken delivery of an unexpected cheque...eyeing up the Aigle Cuckmere even more now...

libertychick · 11/09/2013 22:01

Santa I detest losing posts - it's always the really long, well put together, thoughtful ones that go missing too...

libertychick · 11/09/2013 22:02

I have just repinned that VB sweater Santa - lovely.

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 22:02

shop i think you are perfect for this look, height is important to pull it off, i tried today the vanessa bruno chunky turtleneck and even the shop assistant said that it does not look good on me Grin the slouchy crewneck is more forgiving .

needastrongone · 11/09/2013 22:06

I liked this today as I perused....

stripey dress

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 22:06

carrie i think there is a big scandi influence this season, love how minimal and elegant and bloody gorgeous they look

shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 22:06

Are you sure you don't want to buy me a peacoat Carrie ? Grin

Interesting article. I agree that there are too many collections now, what w/ pre-collections, cruise etc. I cannot imagine where it can go from here because even the greatest creative geniuses will eventually run out of steam. The emerging markets of Russia,China and the Arab states do drive some of this though because there is an insatiable appetite for the new and the money to buy it.

However the final paragraph in which the author mentions that she works in fashion and is nostalgic for the old mystery when fashion shows were closed shops and the magazines genuinely contained news makes me think that she'd only want those days back as long as she was part of that closed shop. The rest of us can remain outside w/ our noses pressed against the glass.

Running the gauntlet of fashion bloggers and interested others does look a bit out of control with them all merrily instagramming everybody that walks by and trying to wear the most outre clothing in order to be instagrammed themselves. That has got a bit silly especially when you watch some of them nonchalantly walking up and down repeatedly in the hope of being noticed!

However the democratisation of fashion doesn't have to go hand in hand with screwing more money out of people. Having access to the images and ideas as they unfold on the runway doesn't mean we want to own it all. A lot of my engagement w/ fashion is because aesthetically I find it enriching. I like the politics, the culture, the creativity. And being able to 'witness' the thought processes being turned ultimately into tangible product as you can w/ certain designers online in no way diminishes its mystery.

shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 22:08

Santa have you got a link to the turtleneck? Sorry if I missed it.....
I much prefer an honest shop assistant - I can't bear the ones who say everything looks great.

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 22:13

shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 22:14

Wow Santa yes I'm tall but I think I'd struggle with that one. It could be very unforgiving!

Drywhiteplease · 11/09/2013 22:14

Santa I'm like you....love the look of chunky knits, but too short for them...I end up chunky too !Grin......

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 22:16

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 22:21

dry i look really stupid in heavy outdoor winter clothes, even dh comments on how i turn into a short stuffed bear Hmm,

Drywhiteplease · 11/09/2013 22:28

But weirdly these make the little bit of leg showing look thinner.
Disclaimer....I only wear when I'm in muddy fields but love them,so cosy,so comfy, so pretending to be a horsey person

Drywhiteplease · 11/09/2013 22:31
