Outfit for an October wedding - truly no idea where to start!

I've just read a few winter wedding threads and I've realised that I should seriously get moving on finding myself an outfit for a wedding mid October. I admit I'm fashion clueless, I buy anything I like that's cheap/practical/comfy/second hand and have no particular style, just never really had the confidence or money to get into fashion Grin

I've been very impressed with the collective MN style knowledge and would really appreciate some help putting together an outfit or I'll just end up putting it off til the last minute and panic buying something I don't like, like usual

I'm about a size 14, fairly tall and definitely hourglass, also I was told I'm "bright autumn" when someone did my colours. The wedding is relaxed style, autumn colours.

I am the same size and shape as you, and have had the most compliments I think I've ever had on my clothing while wearing this dress from Hobbs. For a wedding I would put it with nude tights a d some colourful heels, perhaps purple if you can find them, or nude/tan if you can't. A long necklace down the front and smaller earrings, bag in a related colour to the heels to tie it all together.

Thanks Thalia Smile I love the necklace and shoes but wouldn't normally wear something so high necked as I have big boobs (32/4 F ish) and think they make me look a little out of proportion. On the other hand maybe I don't know what I'm talking about!

Ducky - I love the colour and material of the dress but DH says he thinks it might be a bit flash for the relaxed style wedding not that he knows about fashion either. I'll check out the sites you suggested. I don't know which shops you go to for weddingy clothes...

tinwe I a quite big boobed too (32f, we seem to be size twins!) and it looks good on me as its not a constraining fit across the boobs and the neck is really a slash across rather than a round neck. If you are near Hobbs I'd go and try a few things on, you might surprise yourself. I have changed my trinny-and-susannah rule about this after several dresses made me change my mind, including this one but also a miu miu one I got in the sale last year.

What do you really love wearing now? If you give a bit more info we can trawl the outnet for you. And budget wold be good!

Thanks Thalia my body buddy! Really kind to look around for me. I feel a but daunted by it all. I live in the country so would probably be Internet shopping unless I could do Debenhams which is near where I travel to work. Is Hobbs in there? My nearest place with proper posh dress shops would be in Manchester about an hour and a half away. Not easy to go shopping with 2 and 1 year olds either Hmm

Budget, um, another area I'm not familiar with. The cheaper the better unfortunately but I understand my views of cost are warped by ebay/charity shop shopping! In total less than a hundred? DH is best man so I'd better make an effort but the do is a bit alternative I think so I don't want to stand out too much. I go out v rarely to wear it again unless it's versatile plus I've taken up running and am losing weight so might not be wearing it for long IYSWIM.

I like wearing fairly strong colours, nothing too clingy (baby belly), I'm a bit afraid of loud patterns (like tribal) but sometimes see them on other people and love them. I like wrap dresses but anything that will flatter my shape is more important than a particular fashion.

A bit embarrassed to admit I don't really "love" wearing anything right now. Been a long time since I had a wardrobe I loved and the last dress I bought new was my wedding dress! Confused
