Operation Renovation - aka The Christmas Countdown

HelgatheHairy · 01/09/2013 07:31

It's 115 days to Christmas Eve!

You can use this thread exactly like you were using the previous thread to keep track of what you're doing, have lists, ask advice etc. As its about renovation rather than strictly beauty, nothing is off limits so beauty, clothes, exercise, healthy eating.

So here we go!

OP posts:
Karbea · 24/09/2013 19:19

I'm eating crisps whilst my dinner cooks, bad, bad, bad!

lucysmam · 24/09/2013 19:36

Forgive me ladies for I have sinned....

I chipped two nails washing the pots in a huff (without gloves) at dd1 answering back Grin & my plan for tonight is to ignore them in favour of cheesecake with cream and a bag of pretzels

*disclaimer....it has been one of those afternoons that just makes your head want to pop!!!

On a more positive note...I have showered, exfoliated, defuzzed, moisturised, eye cream, spot stick, face oil & am about to dry and straighten for the morning (when both are going back to school!).

Clothes are out for tomorrow....will try and remember to snap a pic in the morning - just ignore the piles of stuff I've been dumping in our room to sort through.

Tea was fish (fingers for the smallest) with boiled spuds and peas. And I've drunk 2L of water today too.

ControlGeek · 24/09/2013 19:47

I did it! Now I'm off to pour my shredded self into a nice cool shower Grin

justkeeponsmiling · 24/09/2013 19:53

Grin at control ! Funny, you sound just like me! Go girl ! I will deffo start tomorrow!
lucy I think you are doing pretty amazing usually, I'm Shock at what you seem to be able to get done with two poorly DDs, sounds like you deserve an evening off!
karbea did the elasticiser do anything for you when you left it on overnight? I don't think my DH would be too impressed either, tbh...

Karbea · 24/09/2013 20:00

Umm I think so, but I changed my hair products massively so not 100% sure which thing had the biggest impact or whether it was a mix of them all.

Countdowntess · 24/09/2013 20:05

Well done control Smile Can you shred for me too?

I am loving the sound of metallic nail polish where can I get some of that?

TaDa's
Up showered, epilated, exfoliated, body brushed, moisturised, face cream (mama mio), feet pumiced and moisturised (soap and glory).
Dressed in black dress, dark grey spotty tights, black knee length boots and cream scarf. Jewelery was my usual diamond necklace, ear rings and rose gold watch.
I have ordered some pearl ear rings and a pendant necklace to see if that warms up my face, thank you for the tip ladies.

Diet has been not great, breakfast was coffee, lunch was...coffee and some total yoghurt and dinner was home made chicken and veg soup.
Have had vitamins and water just need to go and my hot cloth face and night moisturise/eye cream.

Exercise is still non-existant although I did fetch the hula hoop out from behind the curtain, does that count?

I have just booked half term off work and am considering a weeks de-tox whilst I am at home, anyone else interested?

petalsandstars · 24/09/2013 20:17

Bah, just lost a long post. Will update tomorrow instead. Time for a Biscuit

lucysmam · 24/09/2013 20:50

thanks justkeeponsmiling it's not that much really because I tend to try and keep on top of the house as much as possible....looks impressive written down though Grin

Control you can shred for me too...Hmm I really ought to re start it.

Count if you don't mind non branded stuff, Primark has some sets of nail polishes in for a few quid...would imagine they have something metallic Smile

I'm done for the day, just teeth before bed when dp gets in Smile

vvviola · 25/09/2013 01:41

My goodness you are all very chatty!

Swimming with DD2 this morning so morning routine was a little cut short to get us all out the door on time.

I'm trying to get her to go down for her nap now so that I can have lunch and maybe attack my eyebrows. Oh, and sort out the clothes situation - dreadful weather here so nothing drying and we're all running out of clothes. Need to weed out what can be tumble dried so we've got stuff to wear tomorrow!

Oh, and I have another 3 spots! I treat my skin with benign neglect for decades and rarely get spots, and as soon as I start looking after it, I turn into a teenager again!

HelgatheHairy · 25/09/2013 02:12

91 days to go

OP posts:
lucysmam · 25/09/2013 08:50

Good morning Smile

Girls have gone to school and nursery without a single complaint of feeling ill .

Morning routine all done...
except I forgot to floss Confused . Not sure the cod liver oil is helping much with my hands/wrists, they're bloody sore today - I can hardly bend the index finger on my right hand Hmm ....made this morning interesting!

I even remembered lippy, sparkly earrings and bracelet Shock Am wearing my faded indigo skinnies, cream jumper and boots today (was too dark to snap a pic at 7am so will get one later on.

vvv I have two rather fetching spots!! The one next to my mouth has dried out so much it looks like a crusty cold sore Sad . The rest of my face actually looks very clear this morning Smile

Am just off to mooch around town and run some errands....plus nip in Primark for earrings and nail polish along with onesies for christmas (I love christmas!!)

lucysmam · 25/09/2013 10:06

Hmm very quiet this morning....have you lot gone on strike?

JemimaPuddle · 25/09/2013 10:16

Morning all :)

I'm being useless at water, still on a million cups of coffee a day!
Put a hair treatment on last night but must not have washed it off properly as it felt awful this morning.

Dd2 managed to tip a bowl of cereal down the back of dd1's head so we have all had bath & hair wash this morning. I also had a fringe cut yesterday so my pigmentation & wrinkles are hidden - cheaper than Botox!

I've got a bargain recommendation for anyone in need of foot cream. I bought a tube in bodycare on Saturday for 99p and have been using it each night, my feet are lovely and soft. I've tried lots if different ones before but this is brilliant, it's called Escenti cracked heel cream.

justkeeponsmiling · 25/09/2013 10:19

Good morning :)
Well, I've done it! Did my 20 minutes shred, I'm shocked at how unfit I am! My arms are literally shaking now! And I'm ashamed to say halfway through when she told me to do another set of 20million lunges I threw my weights on the sofa and told her to f**k off (thank god I was on my own in the house!). Did finish it though, not sure how I'll be able to move tomorrow Hmm
I'm off to the shower now, have to try and make myself presentable, hospital appointment later.
Lucys I'm glad both DDs are well again! Enjoy your mooch :)

tartiflette · 25/09/2013 11:29

Poorly DD today (and all last night Hmm) so back to basics for me today.

HelgatheHairy · 25/09/2013 11:57

Didn't manage to shower yesterday, DD was cluster feeding even more than usual. Just about managed to use a wipe off cleanser and moisturise this morning and brush my teeth. I have a very clingy, hungry, tired little baby.

OP posts:
lucysmam · 25/09/2013 12:19

awww Helga I am Envy of your snuggly baby....even if you don't get much chance to shower! Was the 2am countdown baby related?

You lot are putting me to shame shredding away!! Grin

I got a new mascara earlier (figured I couldn't shout at Control for old makeup then not replace mine Hmm Grin ...good excuse!) as well as four nail polishes for two quid in Primark, some hoop earrings..
.two for £1.50.....an eyeshadow and a brush for 99p each.

Is anyone else on a tight budget? I feel a tad guilty spending the few quid here and there sometimes Confused ....although I did tell my fella I need a £100 shopping spree in Primarni soon.

Anyone using the L'Oreal lash serum? I was thinking of adding some to my amazon order so I get free delivery (it's down from £11something to £2.75ish)....just wondering if it's worth it Smile

JemimaPuddle · 25/09/2013 13:08

I'm on a tight budget lucysmam Luckily I have a huge stash of beauty products so my only spending has been my Primark spree £70 and topping up foot cream & dry shampoo £3. Still feel the guilt though

bigkidsdidit · 25/09/2013 13:25

Hello all

Sympathies Helga. Have you a dummy? I know lots of people don't approve but it was a wonder with my sucky DS1 and didn't interfere with breastfeeding.

Thanks for top coat recommendations,'I'll try the Rimmel one as I like Rimmel.

We're going to a wedding this weekend and I need to sped this evening trying on my old dresses to find one that doesn't look too hideous with my post baby fat! Also need to find the right tights, bra etc. I've got little kilts for both boys and they are going to look adorable :)

I've done loads of cleaning and laundry putting away this morning :) and already made soup for dinner. Done morning routine, water and vitamins. I haven't done Callanetics for ages though I need to focus on my exercise once we're back from the wedding.

vvviola · 25/09/2013 15:34

Tight budget here to Lucysmam. I'm mainly working through all the old stuff I bought when I was working and never used! When I finish my course & start working, I've made DH promise I can spend my first pay cheque totally on stuff that I need - clothes, makeup, beauty treatments etc. Grin

It doesn't help matter that even basic stuff is really quite expensive here. (Although pedicures/manicures are relatively inexpensive so I'll be treating myself next month)

lucysmam · 25/09/2013 16:10

Glad I'm not the only one! Trouble is, I have no random stuff lying about that I haven't used....I use the stuff I have before I buy more & no one ever gets me smellies apart from my dad occasionally.

Am still dithering about the L'Oreal lash serum or something else Confused I don't really want to just buy one for the sake of it but need to make my order up to £10 so I get free delivery on the first Game of Thrones book.

JemimaPuddle · 25/09/2013 16:21

Any beauty products in particular you need Lucysmam? I can have a look what I have :)

HelgatheHairy · 25/09/2013 16:23

All countdowns are baby related. When I ran this challenge last year I asked that whoever was first to the thread do the "days left". No danger this year!

I wish she'd take a dummy (and they're recommended by the SIDS organisation here in Ireland). We keep trying but she just pushes it out of her mouth and crys if we try to much.

She is adorable though!

JemimaMuddledUp · 25/09/2013 16:54

I'm on a budget too, which is why most of my stuff comes from Superdrug. Having short hair is more expensive too as I have to have it cut every 6 weeks.

Reasonably successful day today, have done all of the basics except exercise (unless you count the 2 mile walk to work and back). I'm really tired though, and conscious of the fact that I need to leave the house at 7am tomorrow for a course so I need an early night or I'll look like shit

JemimaPuddle · 25/09/2013 18:09

Being a complete beauty addict I've tried a lot of high end stuff, some I wouldn't be without but superdrug stuff is excellent.
I'd really recommend the vitamin e all over body cream it's lovely.
