Operation Renovation - aka The Christmas Countdown

HelgatheHairy · 01/09/2013 07:31

It's 115 days to Christmas Eve!

You can use this thread exactly like you were using the previous thread to keep track of what you're doing, have lists, ask advice etc. As its about renovation rather than strictly beauty, nothing is off limits so beauty, clothes, exercise, healthy eating.

So here we go!

ELR · 05/09/2013 10:16

control wish I was at your house!
Hair and make up done, wearing chill out clothes today as its so hot.
High waisted demin shorts and a funky fitted electric blue t-shirt and birkinstocks but still wearing earrings and bangles to glam it up a bit!
Have ordered some argon hair stuff from Avon they have a special on shampoo, conditioner and oil spray for £5.
Am also remembering to wear rubber gloves when washing up to avoid nails chipping, so far so good only a few minor chips that are hardly visibly.

ControlGeek · 05/09/2013 10:19

Sorry helga, I even scrolled back to double check who had said what Blush I can't even blame it on a bad night's sleep, I had the best one in weeks last night!

Gracie990 · 05/09/2013 10:36

Just found thread :-)

I'm in, I'm out of the baby fog and ready to be me again.

I showered and put make up on every day this week for the school run. I've just been for a run and I'm feeling good. Grin

Need to dye my hair this evening.

lucysmam · 05/09/2013 10:48

Just been to see dd1's consultant....won't make it back to school in time for dinner using the buses so going for a pub lunch...I may have a small Wine

control...thank goodness you dressed smart! am Envy of fit tree son....we never get fit anything to do work at ours Hmm

Can anyone recommend a make up brand similar in prices to superdrug Make Up Academy? I need mascara and some other bits but the stand is incredibly empty lately Confused

HelgatheHairy · 05/09/2013 13:55

Just had fish & chips delivered by PIL and MIL held baby while I ate so I could use both hands! No grooming done but a good day all the same.

ControlGeek · 05/09/2013 14:02

That definitely counts as treating yourself, lucysmam No advice on the mascara front here I'm afraid, I just get cheap stuff every two or three years when my old one dries up Blush

helga sounds bliss!

Fit son is leaning against industrial shredder, shirtless

lucysmam · 05/09/2013 15:50

Shock Control iirc you are supposed to replace mascara every six months ish because of the bacteria that can breed in it. will look for a link later on when I put laptop on to sort my shopping.

ControlGeek · 05/09/2013 16:52

Hi gracie - sorry, I completely missed your post earlier! What colour dye are you putting on?

lucysmam Shock say it ain't so! I suppose it is also Not A Good Thing to re-use disposable razors until the moisturising strip falls off either BlushBlush I can only blame it on old habits from when we didn't have two pennies to rub together. Mascara (and razors) have been added to my shopping list for the week.

ControlGeek · 05/09/2013 16:56

This is not good, I'm losing the plot. I came on to post today's ta-da and got completely distracted. So - dressed up, done hair and make up (phew!), perfume, showered, hair washed and intensively conditioned, about to go hair-dry it, then use straighteners and extraordinary oil. More makeup and perfume to make up for what I have just washed off. Hot lemon this morning, but completely forgot to drink water. Had a few decaf coffees though. Breakfast was toast and marmalade, lunch was beans and ham on toast. Could only eat half though, and this is supposed to be a non-fasting day! Tom soup for tea, then off out to WI meeting

JemimaMuddledUp · 05/09/2013 16:59

Still have agonising earache. Not Ta Das today as I am so sleep deprived that I don't really care how I look. At least my calorie count will be low as it is so painful to chew Sad

Karbea · 05/09/2013 17:39

lucy I think Maybelline The Rocket Volum? Express Mascara, £5.99 at Boots is pretty good.

Gracie990 · 05/09/2013 18:08

control brown, as per usual, just want to be a bit more frequent from now on.

So today I did three workout videos ( short ones) and I'm just wanting for Dh so I can do another run.

I've been doing the mini workout from tone up Tuesday, the workout are ok, the girls are so toned and definately motivate me to do them. Plus they are about ten mins so quick.

Gracie990 · 05/09/2013 18:08

Workouts!

lucysmam · 05/09/2013 19:00

make up lifespans for Control

Apparently I was wrong, it's three months...will brush up myself and be back to update later when kids in bed Smile

Paintyourbox · 05/09/2013 21:23

Evening all,

I have had a few Ta Dahs today but my inlaws are here for dinner so I'm necking wine!

Today I have:

Moisturised body and feet
Makeup done
Hair blow dried
Reprinted nails as chipped one yesterday

All in all, not that great but tomorrow is another day (am I have a hair appointment so that's one good thing at least!)

vvviola · 05/09/2013 21:25

Ouch Jemina. Poor you Confused

I'm really liking my little routines now - it's been so long since I've even had the headspace to consider them (non-sleeping baby combined with Masters at Uni. Masters is still going but now toddler is sleeping slightly better).

On the subject of the hot lemon - the first morning I squeeze a whole lemon, not thinking... I won't be doing that again!! One big slice this morning was much better.

bigkidsdidit · 05/09/2013 21:32

I just did the first day of couch to 5k and I didn't wet myself! Post babies road to fitness has begun :)

cazakstan · 05/09/2013 21:58

Just marking my place...

What a wonderfully inspirational thread.

Have been thinking of starting the c25k...but that's as far as I have got...just thinking about it.

Did the whole hair & make-up thingy this morning...AND...to end the day I AM going to take my make-up off before going to bed instead of rubbing it off onto my pillow!!!

Lemon & hot water in the morning for me.

Dilidali · 05/09/2013 22:24

Off to bed I go with my new notebook:) I am going to compel my 20 things to do list.
So far been really good with my water. Drank two bottles at work, no idea what it amonts to. But had shed loads of biscuits today!!!!
Also, I have been using my eye cream mornings and evenings.
And the oil every time I wash my hair.

All good :)

LetMeAtTheWine · 05/09/2013 22:30

Well, I have made a list and so far (two days) have achieved very little on it. Have done no exercise, not stuck to Weight Watchers points and still being a scruff bag by not removing make up on a night. In addition, failed to drink much water or eat any fruit or veg today Hmm. Have not got off to a good start.
At least everyone else seems to be doing well, hopefully this will be enough to inspire me!

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 06/09/2013 02:07

Day off exercise for first time in a fortnight as meeting with DS autism clinic when I normally do 6wk6pk.

Wore a fab skirt I got from a second hand designer shop; managed to pick it up along with 3 pairs shorts, 4 tops and a bag. All for less than I'd have to pay in the woefully overpriced hideous local shops selling nylon tat.

Am now a genuine designer size 10/12 not a vanity 12 or a 14/16 which I was in June!

To do -Need to book new pedi: dark red.
And a haircut - back to wearing scarves as its 90% humidity here where I live (Caribbean)

Worrying about a hurricane (possibly) brewing next week: hard to low carb and exercise when no electricity and shops empty. Although I have lots of tinned fish and bottles of water in my hurricane cupboard.

cazakstan · 06/09/2013 06:19

Mmmm...lemon & hot water...delish...not. Where's my coffee ???

HelgatheHairy · 06/09/2013 07:25

110 days to go

OP posts:
darlingdaffodils · 06/09/2013 07:27

Need to get started with something!

Going to have a plan for work lunches so I don't end up snacking and then buying some high fat sandwich.

Maybe one of the bento type boxes .....

Was thinking of sorting through my wardrobe and trying everything on. Then sorting the stuff that I like and that fits into outfits and then photographing them. Then I can figure out new ways to wear things, what really goes with nothing, and what gaps there are.

Not waiting until I lose weight to get sorted .... that has been my excuse forever.

NotQuitePerfect · 06/09/2013 08:00

Well I've lost 1 and a half pounds since Monday - hardly thrilling but going in the right direction. No shred yesterday as I cricked my back on Wednesday, but I'm back on it today.

Vits, water, skin care all going well. Had 2 x glasses of wine last night Blush - need to have more alcohol-free days & early nights next week.

Off for scale & polish, cut & foils today, and need to plan careful packing for weekend away so not just throwing random clothing items into a bag & hoping for the best (then weeping when I get to hotel).

Hate, hate, hate trying on clothes/outfit making. I don't know how you girls do it Sad. Nothing ever fits properly, nothing ever looks 'right'. I loathe any kind of formal evening wear, I walk like Dick Emery in heels, I never look 'pulled together' or 'done'. I feel scruffy, mutton, not very feminine.

I shop at White Stuff, Phase Eight, Next, Boden, Whistles, have bits from Dotty P, Hush ..... where am I going wrong?

(first world problems, I know ..... )
