Operation Renovation - aka The Christmas Countdown

HelgatheHairy · 01/09/2013 07:31

It's 115 days to Christmas Eve!

You can use this thread exactly like you were using the previous thread to keep track of what you're doing, have lists, ask advice etc. As its about renovation rather than strictly beauty, nothing is off limits so beauty, clothes, exercise, healthy eating.

So here we go!

ELR · 04/09/2013 18:53

lucy the best eye make up remover I've used is Avon £4 think its called conditioning eye make up remover it's a see through bottle but looks white with a blue top.

lucysmam · 04/09/2013 19:09

ELR I'll check out their website for that, thanks Smile

I'm just out of the shower. Have washed and conditioned hair, taken off make up, defuzzed, pumiced feet. Body moisturiser and spot stick done....pore strip on nose....moisturise after that does its thing.

Then blow dry and straighten hair. Broke a nail againConfused so will sort that when I get sat

Karbea · 04/09/2013 19:16

Well ladies! I've had a really good afternoon, Ive filled a black bag for the charity shop, and a bag for the bin!
I'm pretty sure that there is more to go, but I'm in a much better position now. I'm slightly worried that I'm at that time of the month when you don't want to wear short clothes because looking in the mirror I look dreadful in most of what I have lol! But I really think I need to grow up my wardrobe a bit, but I can't afford to do much at the mo, and tbh I could probably never shop again due to the sheer volume of stuff I have! The little denim skirt I was wearing earlier needs to go to the charity shop as, as I was just about to walk the dog I noticed you could actually see my bum haha! Must have been a lovely treat for the builder this morning Blush and I don't like the shorts I changed into, the darts and the front make me look wide, so they also can go to the charity shop!
Anyway knackered now!
Salmon for dinner!

Dilidali · 04/09/2013 20:33

Notebook bought, ladies, it is a bit vomit inducing, it says 'be gorgeous' or something on the cover, but it is a very good quality paper and the ideal shape.. and the cover is leather. TK maxx, all of £3.
Must check vitamins expiry date and replace what I need, will do on Saturday.

The thought for the day was: grateful for the chance and the ability to work hard- I passed a bunch of eye watering painful and tiring exams. I am glad I sat them, glad I passed them, but I was going down the route of: OMG, never again! I made peace with myself and my crazy ambition.

Glad to see people are culling wardrobes, here's to us!

lucysmam · 04/09/2013 20:38

Finally sat down! Broken nail sorted. Hair dried and straightened. Pore strip took a load of gunk out of my nose Confused ....think I could do with something similar for other areas too.

Karbea sounds like a busy day! I ought to do mine really....will get round to it eventually. Had to Grin at you inadvertently flashing the builder your bum...I have a skirt like that, no idea why I keep it though, it's survived sooooo many wardrobe clear outs its unreal.

What was the No.7 serum that was £11!?!?!

How long do eyebrows need to be to be threaded?

Anyone using real lemons/hot water....how much lemon are you using?

Dilidali · 04/09/2013 21:02

lucysmum the eyebrows don't have to be long at all. I would go anyway, they will reshape them beautifully, my department store charges £5 for it, so not very expensive at all.
When I'll do the lemon thingy in the morning I intend to use a very thin slice and crush it good and proper, skin and all.
I did the one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar at one point, but the acidity didn't agree with me, so I'll adjust the lemon quantity accordingly.
I am on the hunt for a pretty small tray, to keep my glass and vitamins on. The idea is I can hide it in the cupboard and get it out when I need it:)

lucysmam · 04/09/2013 21:12

I was thinking just a slice, wasn't sure though. Will give it a whirl in the morning.

Threading Monday it is then, be nice not to have to arse around with them myself.

Is there a Wilko near to you? They sometimes have pretty trays in store. Or debenhams maybe.

INeedSomeHelp · 04/09/2013 21:26

I'm really not doing very well at this. I keep falling into bed and then realising that I haven't taken my make-up off. Or I'll be in the shower in the morning before I remember about body brushing.
These are the things I should be focusing on just now because there is no cost involved but I'm just not on top of it.
Must do better!

Dilidali · 04/09/2013 21:31

lucysmum ta for the tips.

Doilooklikeatourist · 04/09/2013 21:41

Ta da list
Washed , conditioned , moussed and styled hair
Moisturiseld legs , elbows and décolletage

Wore a floral cotton skirt , nice deep pink smart t shirt and pink ballet flats

Make up on , including deep pink lipstick ( looks much better than the neutral I normally use )

Dangly earrings and gold bangle

Bought some rough skin remover for my home pedicure tomorrow

No alcohol , have not eaten terribly well though , that needs to improve

Sorted out airing cupboard . Does that count ?

Karbea · 04/09/2013 21:42

I really need to get on top of my diet tomorrow!

Karbea · 04/09/2013 21:44

doilooklikeatourist yes definitely, my airing cupboard is one of the tidiest places in my house, it makes me smile every time I open the cupboard door!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/09/2013 22:34

Bought a swimsuit today (a proper swimming one not a posing bikini) and goggles.
Planning to start swimming on my non-work days once the DC are at school.
grin]

Karbea · 04/09/2013 22:56

70isa that's brilliant, I found 3 proper swimsuits today, they are now nicely folded in a drawer, I don't even remember buying them Hmm

HelgatheHairy · 05/09/2013 04:34

111 days to go

I didn't check in at all yesterday. I had people visiting most of the day and then DD had a VERY fussy evening which reduced both of us to tears. Does anyone else cry more when they're tired? DD actually had a few good naps during the day yesterday but due to people constantly around I got no sleep (and had very little sleep the night before).

Diet/healthy eating seriously needs to improve. Lunch was a tea cake and 2 iced fairy cakes.

I would like to join too if I may? Have totally let myself go since I moved away from my home town to somewhere I have never really settled. My husband is away working for another 8 weeks so hoping I can sort myself out ready for his return Wink

scarlet76 · 05/09/2013 06:28

Ooh can I join?!
I exercise regularly but fell off the waggon completely over the school holidays. Need to seriously get back to it as am running a half marathon in October. My aim is to run 3x weekly and do 1 kettlercise class weekly.
I am very slim so no need to lose weight. If anything, after the half marathon, I am would like to put a couple of pounds on. Need to cut the crap and eating on the go. Current aim is to eat 5 light meals per day as I don't cope well with big meals. I feel full quickly.
Wardrobe not too bad. After 36 years I think I've finally found my style. Pencil skirts and skinny trousers for work with fitted shirts and cashmere. Jeans and fitted jumpers and heeled ankle boots at the weekend. Blouses, cigarette pants and heels for going out.
Beauty routines need a bit of work. Have started colouring hair myself as I have so many greys. Need to get eyebrows threaded. Must take makeup off at
night.

tartiflette · 05/09/2013 06:41

Am doing shockingly with diet - life is so chaotic at the moment with workmen coming and going and the dc still at home all day every day... Will aim to get on track by end of next week.

Have made dentist and opticians appointments as part of the overhaul.

Been keeping up with the basics, grooming-wise, at least.

HelgatheHairy · 05/09/2013 07:08

Welcome LetMe and Scarlet

JemimaMuddledUp · 05/09/2013 07:43

Bleugh, slept really badly due to horrible earache. Gave up just before 6am and got up and went for a run.

Still sitting in my sweaty running gear struggling to chew my breakfast (fruit and fibre with half a banana on top). Need to go and have a shower and get ready for work but my get up and go seems to have got up and gone Sad

lucysmam · 05/09/2013 08:38

Morning Smile

Just on nursery drop off. Morning routine done (inc. hot water and lemon)! Remembered accessories too Shock Am wearing black skinnies with a blue floaty top and white flip flops. Swapped red bag for blue with a big silver butterfly (sounds awful written down, is lovely irl) and plain sunglasses for blue ones. Silver sparkly teardrop earrings, bracelet and watch.

Didn't think about brekky this morning....have dd1 to take to hospital after dropping dd2 off so brekky will be on the go and probably not healthy!

Brought a litre of water for the two of us, will get more when they're gone Smile

ControlGeek · 05/09/2013 08:56

Working from home today, so this is a real test. Would normally slob out but this morning have put on black leggings (the ones without the holes!) and a long top and sparkly belt. Hair done, makeup on, perfume sprayed, drinking warm lemon water whilst I m-net for 5 minutes until the other computer has finished booting up. Got a couple of guys coming to take down some trees today, so I've given the downstairs a lick and a polish and humped a load of cardboard around to the front for taking away.

karbea I always cry when I'm over-tired, it's inevitable with me. Hope today is better for you.

ControlGeek · 05/09/2013 09:43

Holy nail polish, Batman - the tree guy has turned up, and brought his drop dead gorgeous son along to help this thread has saved my life!

HelgatheHairy · 05/09/2013 10:11

controlgeek the over-tired crying woman was me! Thankfully DD had a good night and I actually got some sleep so feeling better today. And PIL are bringing me fish&chips for lunch and provided DD cooperates I might get to bed for an hour while they're here.
