Operation Renovation - aka The Christmas Countdown

It's 115 days to Christmas Eve!

You can use this thread exactly like you were using the previous thread to keep track of what you're doing, have lists, ask advice etc. As its about renovation rather than strictly beauty, nothing is off limits so beauty, clothes, exercise, healthy eating.

So here we go!

Have mud masked, it actually seems to have helped lessen a big spot I had brewing over my right eyebrow so that's good.

Almost 2L of water drunk but dd2 pinched the last of my bottle so not quite. Am off to bed soon though so will probably drink another bottle through the night (seem to drink loads at night Confused )

Have blow dried and straightened too but can't get my hair to hang quite right Hmm so will probably run straighteners over it again in the morning. Also exfoliated, defuzzed and moisturised all over.

Need to pluck annoying eyebrow hairs tomorrow but still not sure they are long enough to catch.

Gave up on everything else today. shared a bottle of Wine with dp...just eaten a family sized bag of wotsit type crisps and shared a bar of galaxy Blush

We're not moving tomorrow. Agent sprung a load of undiscussed charges on dp and refused to even consider the work I had pointed out needed to be done (damp in bathroom, replaster the underneath of stairs that was dropping off and front gates for security with dd2 who is hotheaded and a bolter when in the mood). We'll put the cash aside and keep looking....something is bound to come up eventually Hmm

Paintyourbox · 04/09/2013 06:19

Managed to stay strong at work despite a departmental curry, only had some pakoras and salad so I am under my calorie goal for the day.

I have done 5 miles of cycling and 90 minutes of yoga.

Drank 2 litres of water and now away to take my vitamins. Then it's apply body moisturiser then bed time!

BJR · 04/09/2013 06:38

Had a good day yesterday. Went to the gym, stuck to healthy food and drunk 2l of water. Also body brushed, did a hair treatment, hot cloth cleanser and did new evening skin care regime. By that point I forgot to body moisturise so will have to remember today.

This week need to make appointment to get eyebrows done and hair cut. Oh and if I can convince DS to let me get some beauty sleep that may help too!

Morning all Smile

Just on way to breakfast club. Morning routine all done, forgot accessories though Confused (I have five or six cases of costume jewellery too Hmm ).

Went for my new black skinnies with pink floaty top and red bag. Have brought my little denim jacket out too but doubt I'll need to wear it after it was so warm yesterday.

Meeting a friend for Brew in town....and probably Cake when I've done nursery drop off for dd2. Will pick up a 19p bottle of water though too. Might treat myself to something small....feeling a bit meh after yesterday Confused

vvviola · 04/09/2013 08:43

Last night ended up being a pretty good start - did my eyebrows & a hot cloth cleanser before bed, and then ended up having an unintentional early night: I'd planned to go to bed with my book, but when I came out of the bathroom DH had come to bed & turned out the light - so I was in bed asleep by 10:30! Smile

This morning started ok - hot water with orange (because I had no lemon) and a very cursory defuzz as I was taking DD2 swimming. I even remembered moisturiser after the swim.

And then I got a sinus headache so the rest of the day went to pot. Chocolate, coffee and lemon cake kept me just on the right side of cranky for the day. although my children may dispute which side of cranky I was onBlush

I may manage to redeem things this evening with a bit of a beauty routine... Blush

ControlGeek · 04/09/2013 08:47

Managed to remember my lemon water this morning - had a fasting day sprung on me unexpectedly today, which probably helped. Wearing a dress to work for the second time in two weeks, people will start to talk Grin

Cocochops · 04/09/2013 09:15

Sorry to hear about the move lucy

Right yesterday was good ish broke my make up rule as I was taking ds swimming and didn't think panda eyes would be the best!

Ended up spending £30 in super drug oops.

So far today
Exfoliated
Shaved
Stray hairs tweezed
Body moisturised
Make up on
Hot water lemon
2 portions fruit veg

To do
8 water
Paint nails
Long walk
May start shred?
More fruit and veg

Karbea · 04/09/2013 10:14

Morning ladies!

Ended the day having garlic bread :/

Need to order vits today and make a hairdressers appointment and beauty appointments. I also need to go and get some more shampoo as DH as been using it and its nearly empty!

I've thrown away two tops this morning, one silk one that had holes in and deodorant marks and one that just looked scrappy and old. I'm wearing a very short denim skirt, which at nearly 40 I wouldn't buy, I think is ok for this weather and mainly hanging around the house.

My morning and eve beauty routines are going well :)

vvviola · 04/09/2013 10:18

Oh dear. Evening got worse. Healthy eating evening plan ruined as I was baking to take stuff away with us tomorrow (DD2 has food allergies, so if we're going away we have to bring supplies - and I bake a lot of them so that they are just a little healthier). I may have had a few samples.... Blush

But I did get to my 1.5l water target & put on hand cream...

lucysmam · 04/09/2013 10:33

I am going in Sainsbury's to buy a lemon!!

(if I type it here I have to do it Wink )

Am going to pootle round Savers too and see what's to be had in there.....bored hanging round town now.....but by the time I get home it'll be time to leave for dd2 from nursery.

Had Brew with my mate but resisted the Cake and will buy water in Savers because they have a fridge and Home Bargains don't

JemimaPuddle · 04/09/2013 10:42

Ta da for yesterday
Morning & eve cleansing, tone moisturise
Body moisturised
Painted nails (over my gels)
Did kettlebell workout day 1
Took vits
Early night - 9pm
Drank 2 mint teas & 2 glasses of water

To do for today
Kettlebell day 2, can't run as running partner has blobbed & her eldest did childcare while we ran
Exfoliate body
Shave legs
Body moisturise
Drink more water- really struggling with this

NotQuitePerfect · 04/09/2013 10:53

Shred - done
Elasticiser on hair & up in pony tail - done
Face exfoliated & Clarins 365 facial tanner application - done
Clear varnish on nails - done
Litre of water - drunk
All-Bran, banana & natural yog - eaten

Morning routines & DS delivered to work (college starts next week here), put loads of stuff in car to take to charity shop when in town later, wiped down kitchen units & now m-netting with coffee.

Need to go & dry body brush, shower, hair wash, shave legs (seeing beautician later for bikini wax), apply Dove gradual tanner to entire body, blow dry & straighten hair (admire after elasticizer treatment, hopefully Wink) thn off to town for lunch with girlfriend. Which will be healthy, naturally Hmm

No alcohol again last night. Will be tougher tonight. Masterchef is on and DH & I do like a glass or two while watching!

lucysmam · 04/09/2013 11:36

Who was it who had the £11 quid No.7 serum? Can you link it for me?...just been for a mooch but couldn't see it and there was a lack of staff around to ask Confused

Get your pompoms out....I remembered lemons! So will do hot water/lemon/straw in morning when someone tells me how much lemon they have been using, please Smile

I feel slightly guilty buying all these beautifying bits for me so have pre ordered fifa 14 for dp and will pay that off weekly.

Still mooching....bit more bored now and no-one's in who lives near nursery.

ELR · 04/09/2013 11:46

Hi all, I'm loving this thread, not posted again since the first day but have been reading and its really good for remembering to do stuff ect.
Applied an overnight hydrating face mask last night so skin feels lovely this morning.
Showered, shaved and moisturised and put on nice dress and heels which then resulted in a quicky with DH! All this before 7.15am on a school morning!
Blow dried and straightened hair, full make up, earrings and bracelet.
Lots of water drank so far as its a fast day, school run, walked there and back so 2 miles. Then coffee with a friend and a bit of shopping now back home and am sitting with ipad.
Have promised DH I will get rid of all the bags of clothes from de cluttering our wardrobes so best do that!

What is this elasti stuff people are applying to their hair?

Karbea · 04/09/2013 12:04

Just done an hour of cleaning, and texted beautician with appointment requests.

Loving this thread!

lucysmam · 04/09/2013 12:09

Shock ELR a quicky before school run....that'd be novel.....might wear a frock one day next week when dp is here on a morning.

I went and bought some pore strips....will try out this evening.

Meant to post the other day too.....DO NOT BUY WILKO OWN EYE MAKE UP REMOVER!! I was desperate and only had a few quid so bought it for 98p...
made under my eyes sting Sad ....back to Garnier for me

Karbea · 04/09/2013 12:12

Off to tackle the spare room where I keep half my clothes, wish me luck!
might have a cup of tea first

ControlGeek · 04/09/2013 13:17

ELR I'm very impressed and more than a little jealous at your quicky!

lucysmam sorry about the house non-move, so frustrating. I was about to say I wish estate agents would just be a bit more honest about things, then realised that is never going to happen! Hot lemon water - I don't use real lemons, I have a little bottle of juice in the fridge cheat and add about half a teaspoon, max, to a mug of hot water.

I'm so impressed with all of these beauty appointments being made. Sadly my budget won't stretch beyond my three-weekly bikini wax. I have a dentist appointment coming up, but can't see it in my calendar - need to hunt down the last receipt when I get home, I think.

Today's ta das are: water with lemon, dress for the job I want, 2nd fasting day of the week, gallons of water, used hair oil on the ends, tried out a new hairstyle (hairband - hate it, won't be doing it again, it's given me a headache), clear varnish on nails. Will be working late tonight, so no shred or other exercise planned.

JemimaMuddledUp · 04/09/2013 13:30

Afternoon Grin

My Ta Da list so far today:
No run this morning, but by the end of the day I will have walked and cycled 5 miles.
Shower, shave, moisturise
Wash, condition and style hair, tried some John Frieda Shine Shock stuff on my hair that was always too heavy when it was long but has worked a treat now it is short
Hot cloth cleansed and moisturised face
Cleaned teeth with whitening toothpaste
Dressed - long navy and while asymmetric stripe skirt, navy jersey top, metallic sandals, pearl stud earrings, beaded bangle.
Make up and perfume.
Healthy breakfast, with 2 portions of fruit and veg.
Drank water and took vitamin.
Fruit for snack at breaktime in work
Healthy lunch, with 2 portions of fruit and veg.

Dinner tonight is a veg fest, I am making fajitas which will contain peppers and mushrooms in with the (lean) beef, then have corn on the cob and a salad of lettuce, tomato and cucumber on the side. Eat-a-rainbow-tastic! Grin

bigkidsdidit · 04/09/2013 13:42

Lol at quickie before school run, good for you Grin

I'm proving hopeless at updating every day, but I'm getting in the swing. Hot water and lemon plus imedeen every morning, body brushing, exfoliating and body lotion, full face routine morning and evening, keeping nails nice, all routine now for me :) just went to baby group with nice makeup on and a nice outfit, it was even my pre-pregnancy jeans (but with a long shirt to hide the muffin top!)

I need to drink more water, and still haven't plucked up the courage to make the dentist appt. I'm not doing much with diet either as low carb boot camp starts on Monday and I'm doing that.

I saw my face in the light this morning too and omg my crows feet! I went straight online and splurged on clarins hydra quench serum and 'first signs of ageing' moisturiser. I'm meant to be saving to buy a house Blush

Karbea · 04/09/2013 14:03

Omg Ive got so many clothes! Most of which are really old, I don't think I ever throw anything away! I've been squirrelling things away in under bed storage things for years. I've unpacked them all and got everything out, I've no idea how I'm going to sort it all out, so much of it is utter cr@p, or looked good when I was much younger.
I'm going to have to be strict and methodical. I kind of wish I hadn't started now :(
I must wear 1/100th of my wardrobe :(

LonelyGoatherd · 04/09/2013 14:08

karbea Well done for making a start! First of all bag up anything that is stained or has holes in it for recycling.
Then clothes that don't fit you - they can go to the charity shop.
Then clothes that you haven't worn for 2 years.

That should keep you busy for a bit Grin and should make the mountain more manageable.

lucysmam · 04/09/2013 15:08

Karbea that sounds like my wardrobe a few years ago! Mind you....I do randomly hang onto stuff even though I have never worn it...have a beautiful evening dress stashed in a bag just in case....must have had it ten years and not worn it once yet Shock

I plan to start properly organising the house Monday morning when the kids are back in proper routine. My starting point will be deep clean dd1's bedroom and a list of things needed in there (storage mainly). Plus a clear out and try on of her wardrobe.

Have just checked my make up before coming out to collect dd1 & noticed my eyebrows are looking a tad unruly Confused . Not sure whether to get my tweezers out or wait for Monday when both kids will be at school and nursery in the morning and go get them threaded.

Do any of you want 3 little girls vests in age 2-3? They're waaaaay too small on dd2 now

Blueandwhitelover · 04/09/2013 18:44

Ta da
thrown away old teeshirt/top just because I have so many lovely ones that I keep for 'best'. I am going to wear them.
Showered and straightened hair
Eye make up
Chicken skewer salad, jacket potato and spinach salad for tea

to do
must remember to wear earrings
feet-they are horrid
