A new princessing/defrumping/groomed challenge

HelgatheHairy · 23/08/2013 18:09

So last year on 15th September I started a thread about a 100 day challenge to take us up to Christmas.

There are a few people who are interested in another try this year so this is a preliminary thread to see who's interested and people can gather any things they want. I'm sure most of us have a few face masks and things lying around.

This year I think we should include a defrumping element to the challenge which will focus more on clothes.

The grooming element is about putting the whole look together.

Am I making things too complicated??

The first link has the guidelines for princessing but there are no guidelines for defrumping and grooming.

I have a 13 day old DD so might not always get a chance to come on but will do my best to keep things up to date.

So are people in?

Can I just say to people
Starting the shred
Do extra quad stretches
Or your legs will be lead!

currentlyconfuseddotcom · 27/08/2013 20:56

Was that intentionally a poem??

dawntigga · 27/08/2013 21:01

Will be back to read this thread when no longer exhausted - so next year then!

So, i have ordered another face masque, One by Eve lom and some l'occitaine shampoo and condition (both samples from latest in beauty)

Also.. i bought full size conditioning hair masque from macadamia oil, (best ever) and Joico K-Pak shampoo and conditioner.

I have such a hair thing!

I am going to attempt to do some exercise tomorrow before my breakfast & plan a to-do-list.

lucysmam · 27/08/2013 21:18

Very poetic Trucks & noted, thanks Smile

WaxyBean · 27/08/2013 21:20

I've started and am doing well at the water and vitamins and more general grooming (footner footmask done, face mask and hair mask done) but need to find time for the exercise (I haven't had the shred out since 2012!) and quit the biscuits.

I bought a Philips Lumea this afternoon (£250 from Boots) so hoping I will be hair free by the end of the challenge too!

I've also chucked about a dozen items from my wardrobe. Planning to sort through more this weekend and put stuff in the loft. If I haven't thought about it at the end of the challenge - I'll chuck it.

I'm also planning on rewarding myself with having my colours done if I successfully complete the challenge.

JemimaPuddle · 27/08/2013 21:30

I've done my gel nails, a nice taupe colour, hope it lasts well.
Heading to bed after a shower, exfoliate & shave my legs then running at 8.30 in the morning.

StiffGandT · 27/08/2013 22:14

What a brilliant idea Waxybean - I would love to get my colours done but have always thought it too expensive.....but as a treat if I complete the challenge, that's brilliant!

GeordieCherry · 27/08/2013 22:31

Some things I already do & some to add/ get rid of/ work on. I'll work out my proper Amazonian list before 1 September Smile

Today's achievements:

Exfoliating in shower
New nail varnish on toes
Old clear varnish removed from fingers
Day 14 of Abs Challenge completed
Hour walking done
Changed bedclothes
Wore makeup
Cleaned bathroom
Two items of clothing for the charity shop bag & date set for another clothing inventory in 6 weeks
Took breastfeeding vits
Had 5 cups of herbal tea
Put bio oil on scars

LaVitaBellissima · 27/08/2013 22:37

I have started using my fitness pal, drank lots of water and did an hours exercise in the park class, am hoping to go and get a mani pedi tomorrow and am having my hair highlighted and cut on Thursday!

Still more to do, but am feeling good giving up my midweek wine habit!

Dilidali · 27/08/2013 22:37

I'm in.
I struggle with the water thingy. I am getting a new bottle, have been looking for the perfect one for ages now. But I will do the warm water with lemon every morning.

Been absolutely rubbish at taking my primrose oil capsules and the zinc. Vit D was easy, DH would bring it to me, but not the others. So I plan to buy some more and lay a little tray from the night before. Christ, I am turning into my grandmother!

A nice lady threads my eyebrows every 6 weeks, I'll actually put it in the diary.

What I am actually rubbish at is moisturising my hands, I need a plan. I could do with some thick face moisturiser for the Sept onwards weather.

I had the 33 items thingy on the go, I'll finalise it for the bad weather ahead (some call it autumn/winter, ahem).

And shred. Does anyone do it with iphone/headphones? Can you do it like that? The only time I would have is in the very very early mornings whilst the clan is asleep, no downstairs for us.

I do my manicure just fine, that's what Sundays at 6.45 am are for, I can't lie in. The pedicure though...in winter months tends to be ignored.

I love notebooks, but I'd be rubbish at updating it. However, a really really pretty diary might help. The princessing diary. I am thinking something rude. Notebook it is then.

And to give it a bit more purpose, I shall write at the beginning of each week 5 things I am grateful for. And the thought/task of the week, be it: smile (without being sarcastic). Or: compliment a person today. Nah, make it about me: compliment myself. And then reassure the accidental witness the new medication takes time to kick in. Or just write and keep it to myself. It's a bit bonkers, one thing I really don't lack is self confidence, but there, I might actually blur the sociopath image ( I am kidding).

Lovely....
Thank you ladies, I shall rwport back with the list.

HotCrossBunsForAll · 28/08/2013 07:37

You're all brilliant & motivated - watching with interest as there are a few bits I'd like to do to be more groomed generally. I drink a lot of Coke so upping my water intake and drinking less soda is a big one for me, and I always forget to moisturise properly. Have bought some new primer and face cream yesterday, and some lovely new make up bits, so I'm going to give the list a go from the 1st!

As a side note, the Body Shop have 3 for 2 on everything at the moment, and if you're on O2, they have 50% off make up and skin care until Friday with priority moments.

LonelyGoatherd · 28/08/2013 09:14

The low carbing starts today! And if I can do it on no sleep , I can do it any day...

home pedi first.

I also struggle with water, but drink loads of mint tea.

HelgatheHairy · 28/08/2013 09:15

dilidali that's a really good idea about gratitude. I might go for at least one a day.

OP posts:
JemimaPuddle · 28/08/2013 10:07

Done day 2 week 2 of c25k and had my 2 coffees for the day.
On mint tea for the rest of the day :)

bigkidsdidit · 28/08/2013 10:31

I've not managed exercise, 9wo DS2 will not be put down at the moment, but I did manage body brush, exfoliate, moisturise, nail paint and bath once DH was home last night. Today I am going to phone the dentist (a big deal for me) and start clearing out my wardrobes, and I have had hot water and lemon and a glass of water plus my imedeen already today.

I also started a thread on good housekeeping about caring properly for my clothes so they don't fade or go bobbly and got lots of useful tips :)

lucysmam · 28/08/2013 10:34

Well, I'm not so sore this morning after shredding yesterday! I expected agony....am sure that will follow soon.

The push ups involved seem to have aggravated my bad wrist though so I will sit those out and have a slurp of water today & find something I'll not have to use my hands/wrists for future use.

I'm not getting far today...dd2 was up in the night (again again) and dd1 complaining of a poorly tum so will do basics this morning (cleanse/tone/moisturise/basic make up), drink plenty of water through the day and then shred/shower/finish epilating legs/smother feet in dd1's cetraben cream tonight.

lucysmam · 28/08/2013 10:36

bigkids what's the thread in Good Housekeeping called so I can look it up on the app? Am in need of sorting my wardrobe too and thoroughly sorting the shithole house but will wait until next week when kids are at nursery/school so I have more brain space to do it rather than rushing if that makes sense Smile

bigkidsdidit · 28/08/2013 10:52

It's 'can you give me your no1 tip for keeping clothes looking nice'

SELondonSwede · 28/08/2013 11:13

Hi ladies,
First post for me but you have all inspired me so much! I really needed that kick up my backside.
I have taken the day off work to org my wardrobe, order supplements and to have my hair done! I am so excited!

I am also on a mission to find more pursefriendly options to my grooming. I can no longer afford to spend what I used to and have as a result stoped alot of my groing routine rather than finding cheaper alternatives. Shame on me!
Well no more - I am on.

Inspired by another thread one of my biggest tasks during this challenge is to give up sugar.
2014 here I come!

lucysmam · 28/08/2013 11:28

cheers bigkids will be off to bookmark shortly Smile

SELondon...if you have a Savers or Home Bargains near you, you can often get hair/body stuff cheaper than elsewhere if that helps? I buy Aussie three minute miracle from savers for £2.99, it's about four quid elsewhere. & Home Bargains have Charles worthington hair stuff in for £1.99 atm Smile Poundland is often worth a browse around too...I got some flexitol cuticle &nail cream for feet in there yesterday (no idea how much it usually is though). And they had Kleenex make up take off wipes in too.

JemimaPuddle · 28/08/2013 14:33

Think I should've spread my 2 coffees out over the day instead of drinking them both at 6am!
Didn't have any mint tea in so had to make do with the red leaf tea left from dd2. It's not the same as a strong coffee with lots of sugar :(

Karbea · 28/08/2013 16:38

I think the best time for coffee is around 11. I'm going to have to give it up completely as caffeines rubbish for fertility :(
I'm totally bloated after eating loads of food (mainly carbs) and wine every night.
Been trying to drink a lot of water and have been keeping up my face routine and put on anti sun hair spray stuff....
Properly starting Sunday!

Dilidali · 28/08/2013 16:48

I'm abroad, I looked for a nice notebook...lordy!!! Give me TK Maxx and Paperchase back!!!!

I torn a page off my DD's notebook and been scribbling on that.

HelgatheHairy · 28/08/2013 17:22

Ladies I've failed completely today - I haven't even showered and DD seems to have settled in for a cluster feed so not going to get the chance anytime soon.
