HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

That's really lovely, Glasses, bet it will go with lots of different trousers/skirts.
Your coral blazer sounds great too, Joycey, bet it really stands out amongst all the drab winter stuff around.
I'm going to make a real effort today to do some sorting of my wardrobe, swap my summer things for my winter stuff. Just feel now I can risk clambering up on a chair to reach the high cupboard where it's been stuffed in bin bags all summer.

I'm seriously contemplating trying to fit in & book a style day before I have to go back for the second operation on my foot this winter. Really nervous about doing it as I don't want to end up like on my colour day, completely overwhelmed by a big family, all there together with others they'd brought along to watch, felt like a right fish out of water.
Do you think the consultant would divulge how many were attending on the dates she has coming up?

wools · 13/10/2013 09:25

Love that navy coat Glasses - a real classic!

Fooogle · 13/10/2013 20:21

That navy coat looks lovely glasses. so many uve seen are virtually black. Ive been a biy nuts and bought one like this from ebay.., will be waiting all week for post to come and see if it was a bad impulse bid! Think i may do better with belted styles but lets hope i can pull it off, m.ebay.co.uk/itm/360762881759 no idea if this link will work.

Have tried see sheer and crosswires in mac shop and not sure they were my best suited, somehow didn't seem bright enough...maybe I'm expecting they have to be bright to be right? Or is that only if you use it for your pop if colour?

Aque, I'd ask. Consultant presumably wants you to be happy with experience so say what you think would suit you best perhaps? Style day sounds lovely treat

That coat is fab, Fooogle. What a brilliant price for Jaeger, real quality. I've looked at their stuff in Boundary Mill but it's always the end of line dull things that ends up there, even then you can't fault the quality.
Camel is timeless. I have an ancient wool camel coat, won't say exactly how long I've had it but I bought it before my Ds started school & he's married now! But it's a classic style too, mines a tie belted trench, & you still see ones like it in the shops. It's in great condition so no way I'd chuck it.

I think I will ask her when I've sorted a free day to go which coincides with her class dates.

Fooogle · 14/10/2013 18:21

Not v spring today at all. Checked pasis blouse navy and cream and red...navy trousers and had to done navy cardi as too cold at work!
Can't quite pluck up courage to wear peach leather biker Blush... Feel self conscious
What are you folk wearing on this rather grey day?

Mumelie · 14/10/2013 19:02

Hi Springs!
I tried hard to be Spring like today, despite the cold and most of my winter wardrobe being a very depressing shade of grey!
Navy Phase Eight jersey dress with navy tights, tan shoe boots from Clarks, Boden cashmere cropped cardi in turquoise (from summer sale - first outing - colour felt weird!).
Go for it Fooogle with your leather jacket! Pick a sunny day and wear it.

Mumelie · 14/10/2013 19:03

Oh and love that navy coat Glassess - quite tempted myself if I hadn't bought a purple one (not Spring like at all)

Aquelven · 14/10/2013 19:14

Not very Spring like today, gloomy colours to match the weather. Just trying to keep warm!
Black Long sleeved T, old, black trousers, navy cardigan, navy boots, gold pendant on chain. None of it new.

GlassesDontSuitMe · 15/10/2013 00:17

I haven't been very spring like either today, silver grey long cowl neck jumper, grey skinnies and long black boots. as spring like as the weather Grin. I did put on some bright lipstick though just to cheer myself up.

It's strange, when I was first diagnosed I was a bit horrified by the brightness of the colours and couldn't ever see myself wearing most of the colours in the wallet. I would have been really happy to wear what I have worn today and felt OK.

Now I have seen the light, I got dressed this morning and felt that something was missing, it was, a splash of bright! It's taken me a while but I think I'm finally accepting and enjoying being a spring!

Joycey29 · 15/10/2013 07:12

Morning - it's Tuesday!
Scarf and Lippy at the ready!!
Grin

Aquelven · 15/10/2013 07:31

Morning Joycey, Smile
You've cheered me up, feeling rough with a rotten cold, anything but Spring like. So what colour scarf & colour lippy are you wearing today?
I'm still in my dressing gown. Blush
Must, must, must get my act together, get ready & get out the door!

alemci · 15/10/2013 08:14

Bit better today here weather wise. Hoping to go to an outlet later.

starting job tomorrow, some misgivings and realise that some of my stuff is too small and doesn't match, not smart enough etc.

In my other job it was office dress but you knew what you could get away with and how to look.

Aquelven · 15/10/2013 10:16

Really good luck with the new job,Alemci. Smile

I need to go shopping this morning for a birthday present for DH. So off for a good mooch round the shops as well, see if there's anything at all Spring like. Still have some gift vouchers from last Christmas, would you believe!
Dressed now I black trousers ( again!) teal long sleeved T from M&S that I got the other week. Think I might get some more of those, really cheap, good selection of colours & nice & long, with a dark teal angora mix cardigan, TKMAXX last winter.

Aquelven · 15/10/2013 10:17

In Blush

BeginnerSAHM · 15/10/2013 11:54

Good luck alemci!

Aquelven - the teal sounds nice! Hope you find something suitably springy...

Am wearing bright pink (geranium?) sweatshirt from whistles last year, taupe layering long sleeve t under, indigo skinny/straight jeans (uniqlo - £7.80) and slim tan belt with gold buckle. Grey skinny converse. A bit springy. No lippy or scarf Joycey, sorry Wink! Too much with uber bright sweatshirt!

Off to parents evening soon, feeling very yummy mummy!

alemci · 15/10/2013 15:37

alemci · 15/10/2013 15:38

Fooogle · 15/10/2013 20:03

Fingers crossed for you alemci, your purchases sound just the ticket too.

I took the plunge and wore my peachy biker jacket today with a yellow long sleeve, yello cashmere cardi and a vintage yellow and other good ish coloured scarf, navy trousers and tan boots... Felt springy. Tried Jane fardon apricot lippy...it looked coral but then ended pink somehow... Might be my lips is the problem!

How did you do Aque!
Hope parents eve was good joycey, you sound v glam!

Like the sound of your sweater Beginner, was just fancying a sweatshirt today...dunno where to look!

Aquelven · 15/10/2013 20:52

Well, I didn't get time to look in the clothes shops so will have to try again. By the time I'd sorted the present & faffed about in Tesco, as to them overcharging me £18 & I got a learner in CS sorting it, I'd have been late.

Aquelven · 15/10/2013 20:53

Your biker jacket sounds amazing Smile

Joycey29 · 15/10/2013 22:10

Glad some of you made a real spring effort!
Grin

BeginnerSAHM · 15/10/2013 22:15

Just a quickie but try Pull & Bear and French Connection for sweatshirts... And I bet whistles still do them but my springy colour one was bought in spring 2012... A lot of grey and navy around but Pull & Bear have a few colourful ones!!

Found what I think is a really wearable lippy colour for daytime, especially when you don't feel like something too bright & overpowering. Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, nicely moisturising too.
