So I just measured by bra size and I'm shocked, is it right?

I measured under and I'm 34. Well I'm 33.5. That is taut, completely flat to skin.

When I do the lean over measurement (which made dh smirk) I measured 41inches.

Am I right thinking that makes me 34E?

I have teeny (saggy and deflated) bosoms!

Try a 34F, 34FF and a 32FF, 32 G.

I have friends and relatives with very soft, empty boobs and who measure around 30/35 and need a bigger cup than tr measurements suggest. Don't be afraid to try a bigger cup than you think you need. You may be surprised, especially after scooping.

Do you mean you have to lean forward to get your boobs to fall to their fullest point and then measure round them? And then count the inches between them and each inch is a letter further? So 30 and 33 would be 30C? Is that right?

Jesus I'm 35 and 44. My boobs are long and saggy now! That can't be right, that would make me a 36H or so! I usually take about a 40DD.

I've always been bamboozled by these threads. I haven't been properly measured since i was 13 and my mum did it for me!

Since then, i've just been guessing my way along.

I'm currently wearing 34 C, but don't think it's quite right.

Following the measuring guide (ie leaning over) my measurements are

30 inches underbust (tape measure pulled taut)

36 inches full bust (leaning over; tape not too tight)

What does this mean? Would love someone to wave their magic wand for me so i can go buy a bra tomorrow that might actually fit for the first time in my life.

Ilovemydog, i've just used the above link (which came heavily recommended on another bra thread) and according to that - if i've read correctly - my measurements mean i should be wearing a 30E!

There's no way that can be right. I have an old DD bra in my drawer from my pregnant days and it's giant on me.

Well that would make me a 36G. There's no way I'd get a 36 round my back. I've got a 38E and it's a real squeeze. I usually find my 40DD fits alright. And it depends on the make as well.

ILove - 35/44 gives you a starting point of 34GG. The reason your 38E is tight is precisely because the cup is too small - it's trying to steal 4 cup sizes worth of space from the band! That cup is roughly equivalent to a 34FF so is still two sizes too small anyway. Your 40DD won't fit 'alright' at all if you scoop, position correctly, and look at the distance you can pull it away from your torso at the back

WhistlingNun - yes, 30E to start with, what band size is the DD cup on that you tried? If it's on a bigger band, given that you were pregnant, you're right that it will be too big, but the right cup on the right band won't be, by definition, and because cup size is relative to back size and not an absolute measurement, a D cup on a 36 for example is actually smaller in volume than an F cup on a 32. So try the 30E and see how it feels.

Whistlingnun, what back size is that DD? Cup size is relative to back size so a 34DD would be bigger than a 30E in cup size terms.

Ilovemydog - your 38E is tight because the cups are too damn small :) as sparkle says. I am a 30HH roughly, can barely do up my old 30GGs though.

Ilovemydog Stop fighting it and try a 36 back with a decent cup size. As statistically says, it's only too tight because you're trying too small a cup.

I was an early developer and wore C/D cups at 14 - I'm in a GG now. My tits have not grown massively - I've just got my head around my cup size! I spent nearly 20 years thinking "only tarts are over a D-cup".

30E is the place to start - but don't be scared to try sizes around it too. The 36DD us designed for someone who measures roughly 41" around the widest part, so quite a bit bigger than you. Have a look at thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk fitting advice section so you know exactly what to look for and how to test the fit. Get the back right first, and don't be scared of the bigger letters. If you have one, your best bet is Bravissimo, Debenhams or similar to have a good choice of bras to try. The Debenhams Gorgeous range runs small in the back - probably try Freya, fantasie, panache etc to try and work out your base size, and try a back size up from that in Gorgeous range.

Ilove...take that bra and put it on back to front. Now - how far away from your body can you pull the band?

So if I'm a 28.5 back and 33.5 at fullest (tape measure loose) do I start with a 28 or 30 back? Would 30 not be too big? thanks

I read these threads and went from a 36C to a 32DD. It is an amazing difference! I couldn't believe how much better I looked and how comfortable I felt.
