linus your maxi skirt outfit today sounds lovely.....am going to try something similar for work tomorrow I think.
Today I'm digging deep in the wardrobe to find hot weather/work stuff and have found a black short sleeve wrap dress from H and M years ago. With sandals and a necklace I'm hoping to stay cool today.

Have a great day all

Sleepwhenidie · 15/07/2013 09:00

Good morning everyone! I am sat in my garden with a cup of tea, enjoying a bit of peace for what feels like the first time in ages. DS's are on holiday and DD isn't very well, burning hot and very lethargic, so they are all vegging in front of the TV in their pj's, no need to get ready for school, bliss! DD being unwell also gives me a good excuse not to take the boys out to the zoo Grin (crap mum I know but it's too hot!)

We spent the weekend with family in the countryside, mainly eating outside and watching the kids doing lots of different things involving water and playing with the new puppy DSIL family just got. It was so lovely. DH and I braced ourselves for the dog appeal but so far DC's have been cool so that's a relief.

I think I will be spending the day in shorts and bikini top today, sorting out the house, we are putting it on a rental website to let out during holidays (mainly as an attempt to prevent any further break ins when we are away). They are doing a photo shoot on Wednesday morning so all clutter needs to be gone Hmm

QueenC I agree with Decam on the bag thing, brief DH about it rather than putting it on invitation. I actually gave DH a list of things I'd like as presents before my birthday, ranging from £15 up as I figured anyone looking for guidance would ask him and he would have been clueless. Quite a few people did.

Shop I have a story to beat your DH being shat on, a baby seagull fell on DH the other day, they nest on the rooftops around here in summer, this one clearly thought it could fly before it actually could Sad. DH is bird-phobic so freaked out, yelling for me to come and get the chick (which was actually pretty big and aggressive) out of our living room where it ended up(bi fold doors all open). So we then had two days of not being able to open our doors or use the garden because this chick took up residence and anyone venturing out got dive bombed by the mum. Not fun with this heat. We got up on the third day and chick had gone, the official line is that it learned to fly but we are pretty sure a fox got it Sad for bird but Grin for us getting our garden back!

BrandyAlexander · 15/07/2013 09:25

Morning all! I am working from home today so having my breakfast while my nanny gives the dcs a wash. Peace downstairs, chaos upstairs. I am still in pjs Grin

QueenC, hope you dont mind me saying.......I would advise against putting the list in the invite. I have given all sorts of special birthday gifts over the past year, ranging from a weekend at the Grove, a spa day, personalised whiskey and champagne to handmade jewelry but I would have raised an eyebrow if a list came with an invite. I am not one of those mumsnetters who thinks putting them in wedding invites is grabby and rude, as I did that Grin but I do think you run the risk of it being taken the wrong way by your friends.

shopafrolic · 15/07/2013 09:31

Hilarious Sleep - will they put that on the rental info? "House comes complete with low flying baby seagull." Grin

Morning everyone!

Glorious lovely weather. I too am in the garden with an espresso. We still have the overhang of extra nursery days which we had to do so I am solo. It is rather lovely!

I need a new bikini, I love that one Foxy. I really don't want to go into a shop in this weather so will check out the usual sites.

QueenC yes to your Dh organising, he can even say it's a surprise. Your friends will be happy to be in on it.

Hi Remus.

Had a fab weekend, saw some friends that I hadn't seen for a while. And went out to dinner on Sat for ds after last week. He's really good now which is great.

foxysocks · 15/07/2013 09:57

Now I need an espresso too, mmmm. dS hiding inside with his toys, am in garden in very short shorts and bordering on indecent bikini top. Will report on odabash later should be here by midday. Link if you order one, marsha!

Wore celine skirt and charcoal tee on SR. Nearly passed out from the heat, no more dark tees!

OneLittleLady · 15/07/2013 10:15

I'm hiding indoors in my pj shorts and a vest. I'm too hot to even think of putting a bra on so the puppies are running free!

BrandyAlexander · 15/07/2013 10:36

Grin at One!

shopafrolic · 15/07/2013 10:38

Back from walking the hounds - it's very warm out there.
So my spending ban is temporarily on hold. I have ordered these Chi Chi sandals that I have loved forever. The colour I wanted have just gone in on final reduction so I have to try them.........

Phew, it's hot. Just got back from a cycle ride after dropping the kids at school and nursery and am a big sweaty mess drinking a lovely cool glass of diet coke and a bar of dairy milk.

novice don't worry, I wasn't going to put a whole gift list in with the invitation. Tempting as it is though to go round with the scanner in JL Wink Grin. My friends really would clearly think I was bonkers. I shall inform dh that I would like contributions to the bag and pray that people ask him what I'd like!

Had better get showered and work out whether I can be bothered with a trip to ikea or whether I'd rather pay their extortionate delivery fees.

shopafrolic · 15/07/2013 10:42

Delivery fees every time QueenC
mignonette are you ok? Any news?

BrandyAlexander · 15/07/2013 10:52

Ooh lovely Shop.

Grin QueenC! Ah reminding me of good times....going round with that scanner thing in JL Oxford street.Smile

I have to say I probably put far more thought into each of my friends' presents than they put into mine, that's if they bothered to at all.Grin I really didn't mind though, it has been a special time because I have seen so much of my uni friends which is lovely after 5 years of a home life of pregnancy, breast feeding and non sleeping child!

MarshaBrady · 15/07/2013 10:55

We did a list at Liberty. Was great fun! I treasure everything so much. We only have one if six of the prettiest glasses (we bought another time from a small place in Paris). Dh is so blinking clumsy he's not to use it. I'll be so upset if it breaks. Luckily he doesn't drink wine.

MarshaBrady · 15/07/2013 10:58

Will do Foxy. I just need a plain black brief. Nothing on NaP and the usuals (in the sale). Be good if there was a shop near me, can't be bothered with town.

Love those sandals Shop, gorgeous!

BrandyAlexander · 15/07/2013 11:00

We have turned into our parents! We have a beautiful glass cabinet stuffed full of crystal that we have barely used because I am terrified of it breaking. Both sets of parents have this and we swore this wouldn't be us. Sigh.Hmm

foxysocks · 15/07/2013 11:19

what about these marsha?

have ordered a lovely blue wang tee to replace the disintegrated whistles. not heard of this site before but their sale looks good.

OneLittleLady · 15/07/2013 11:24

So mad at Dp this morning, he left the cat without any water and she bit me, drawing blood to wake me up to give her some Angry I know it wasn't done deliberately but he never stops to think, he's always in a rush to do things and forgets the little things.

Anyway, I finally decided to get dressed and am wearing a blue acid washed maxi skirt, turquoise ribbed vest top and flat tan leather sandals.

Sleepwhenidie · 15/07/2013 12:27

Ouch One! Hope it wasn't too bad.

For our wedding DH and I asked everyone to give us a copy of their favourite ever book, with a note in the flyleaf. We now have a fantastic (and very eclectic) wedding library that we are still aiming to read our way through Grin, love it.

Decameron · 15/07/2013 12:35

Gorgeous sandals, Shop, worth breaking the ban for.

Nice t-shirt, Foxy. I've used Morgan Clare before.

I have a lot of John Rocha Waterford crystal, I didn't use it for years but we got rid of our cheap glasses and use the good ones all the time now. Only problem is I can't put them in the dishwasher.

Me & Em are going to give me a refund. They really have good customer services.

Ugh Sleep, your poor DH, I would have been freaking out!

Decameron · 15/07/2013 12:36

Yikes, just read your post, One!

OneLittleLady · 15/07/2013 13:54

I've collected loads of injuries this last few days! Walked into the corner of the wall and I have a lovely purple line down my arm, I have a black eye from my brothers cat jumping my face, a bruised wrist from tripping over my skirt and now a punctured toe! I hope I'm accident free this week! Grin

OneLittleLady · 15/07/2013 14:04

BIL has been allowed to go home but he has to go for radiotherapy, he has a cavernoma which cant be operated on Sad

BrandyAlexander · 15/07/2013 15:25

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that One. Sad

On a fashion front, I bought this top today. I like Desigual tops for running around in on a Saturday with kids. It's unusual so if its too out there i will send it back.

OneLittleLady · 15/07/2013 15:43

thank you novice

I LOVE that top btw novice I can see it looking fab with very plain skirts/jeans. Nothing to distract from the top IYSWIM

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 15/07/2013 17:21

That is a gorgeous top, Novice. Sometimes Desigual can be a bit garish, but the colours and design of that are really lovely.

I'm Angry as I went on the Comptoir de Cotonniers website and was all excited at their fabulous bargains, but the dress and shoes I wanted are heavily reduced and both sold out in my sizes. Does anyone know if they're likely to have them in store even if they're sold out on the website? There's a store 45 mins from me if so - I'd ring and ask, but apparently the customer service at that store isn't great and I'd just imagine a "computer says no" scenario which I wouldn't necessarily believe and end up driving over anyway.
Was also quite surprised today as popped into local shitty M&S for some fruit juices and passed a very nice slouchy cobalt shoulder bag with a braided handle. Not on the website, but at £29.50 was v tempted. It stuck out among the polyester trousers and fit 'n' flare midi skirts (I imagine our local M&S demographic is about 55+)
