Mig this is awful news. Everyone is right, just go because you'll just be fretting at home and even if there is little you can do there you will at least be able to be there for DB. So sorry, you have had had a tough time....stay with us here, we are all here for you xx
Think it will be hot in NE

MrsRadicchio · 03/07/2013 07:56

Mig that is awful news. Poor you and family. I can understand the need to be doing something. Have you been able to get hold of your brother yet? I would imagine that they will be grateful for someone around to help with your neice / nephew, to try to keep some sense of normality for them - taking to school / nursery?. Such an awful situation for everyone, hope that SIL and new baby make good progress with recovery.

Liberty I am also a maxi wearer in summer, don't do bare legs.

Shop I am looking forward to seeing the me+em maxi, it is getting rave reviews in the blogosphere.

Could someone PM me meeting time and place, I have not heard from sleep yet and need to plan route.

DH has a new job and is feeling like Marsha did about it all. I am trying to get him to resolve it asap as he has options for other work. He is a procrastinator though, but I think decisiveness in ending the job will be better in the long run.

Drywhiteplease · 03/07/2013 07:57

Too many heres and theres in that post ....but you understand what I'm trying to say. Bises.

AmberNectarine · 03/07/2013 07:58

Oh mignonette, I'm so sorry to hear your news. No advice to offer beyond what was suggested by these wise ladies, but another one willing to talk whenever you need. My heart breaks for your DB and his family. Crossing my fingers for a miracle xxx

McNally · 03/07/2013 08:11

I've PMd you mig but to reiterate what everyone else has said, do talk about it here if/when you need. I am hoping that today brings some improvements.

mignonette · 03/07/2013 08:27

Thank you all. Brother has just sent me some photos of baby and she is so pretty and like her sister only wired up to the eyeballs and so big becausof her e Mum's untreated gest diabetes (which they knew about and just put here on a diet FFS- my sis is a diabetes nurse specialist and is bloody appalled at lack of treatment)....Angry

Willl try to post photos later. Brother okay with that.

Like the whiteness of that Henley top Linus-nothing like a brand new white T shirt but they do not stay that way for long unless you use wash powders/temperatures of nuclear waste proportions Smile

Queen Yes, sometimes nothing will do except chocolate. Stuff the SSRI's, the talking therapies. Give us chocolate for we are woman-us Hormon-us and thwart us at your peril.

Sleepwhenidie · 03/07/2013 08:43

Oh Mig so sorry to hear what has happened, what a horrible time you are having lately Flowers and

Anni I feel your pain re washing machine, mine keeps getting blocked (lie to little boys with stones and Lego in pockets) and stopping and I have to drain it, but my machine is on first floor so altogether more stressful when there's a bit of a flood! Time for a new one here too I think, it has done sterling service over 6 years...an AEG if that helps. Think I want Miele next time though.

I have pm'd about meet up on Saturday, it's still not too late for anyone else in London area to join us if they'd like to, the more the merrier, just PM me!

Feeling hungover this morning. The MW order arrived in time but the SBC dress was disappointing, the neckline doesn't really work on me and its definitely quite casual, not £183 looking, so that's an easy decision. I wore trusty leather trousers in the end. The rest of the order was great, the Theory leggings are fab, so think I will keep those and also the Joseph jumper very cute, just want to get DH opinion on both as they could be marmite for him and if he hates them I may rethink Grin

santamarianovella · 03/07/2013 08:43

mig I'm so sorry to hear that, I think it will be better for you you to go for along weekend ( if you can manage),and like everyone here said,do talk about it,we are more than happy to help in any way possible.

liberty a drink before the MU is a good idea, but I can't do that, all it takes for me is one drink and will turn into a total fool, and seeing how tall everyone is I may need to wear my highest heels.

linus yes they are both on my board.

shopafrolic · 03/07/2013 08:46

Mignonette just logged in to hear your terrible news. You've had such a tough year - I'm so very sorry. I am saying a prayer for you brother, SIL and the gorgeous little newborn. When my BIL twins were born I found the wires very terrifying.
I can't remember where you are based but if I can do anything at all from here I have a quiet day so do ask.
Sending hugs, positive energy, and flowers.
Liberty come to my hairdresser with me in the morning if you want to.....

shopafrolic · 03/07/2013 08:51

Oh and Dry School meeting outfits included a lot of Joules rugby style tops, and a lot of comfortable shoes. I felt right at home Confused

BrandyAlexander · 03/07/2013 09:06

Mig, glad to hear you have spoken to your brother. Some good news at lastSmile i am mostly around all day as well today.x

Santa, I can assure you that I am just under 5'2" and wore flats at the last meet up. I held up the midget corner very wellGrin

Sleep, I finally told dh Blush and he's fine but think it will just be lunch for me as we're hosting about 25 people at home on Sunday and need to prepare.

shopafrolic · 03/07/2013 09:24

Novice and Mig - I've PM'd

mignonette · 03/07/2013 09:37

Sleep Glad some of your order worked out. I have that feminist dilemma of not dressing for Dh per se but knowing that if he dislikes a certain item/outfit, I feel less inclined to wear them...He always laughs at what he calls my Nun going out shoes (Gold Miu Miu loafers) and dislikes yellow whereas I adore it (and I ignore him on that score because he is a Man and clearly does not understand)

Novice and Sleep You rock 'Midget Corner' as you put it, Novice...I hope you all have a fabulous day and hopefully I will get to one, one day.

I had an incredibly rude phone call from the allotments people at the council just now asking me what I put in my compost bin and did I not know the difference between bees and wasps? She was so obnoxious and snide that I recorded her and may put it online for the perusal of others. I only called them about the bees/wasps because I was concerned that on their stupid 'open day' (honestly, who wants to spend a day watching somebody else's turnips growing anyway?) somebody might get stung. So I lost it, said I was not in the habit of walking to my allotment compost heap to deposit leftover feasts from my Ocado delivery, didn't conduct a field study identification on the black and yellow creatures that were stinging DH half to death and told her to fuck off. That was after reminding her that WE pay her wages via council tax, she should be more polite and I would be putting in an official complaint.HA!

And today I am wearing this River Island sweatshirt that I bought myself after buying one for DS's GF. On the bottom half is my Creatures of the Wind brocade/tweed/chiffon skirt and tan Hasbeens. Slightly odd ensemble though I say so myself- a bit Miss Marple on acid but never mind.

libertychick · 03/07/2013 09:43

Oh Mig how awful. I have said a prayer for you all - feel free to pm. As I am sure you know just take it one day at a time, if you can get there even for a weekend it would help you get a sense of what your DB needs most. And don't neglect the basics eat well, some fresh air etc. I am working all day today but can 'chat' this evening...I am feeling the rage on your behalf as it sounds like it was entirely preventable.

Shop thanks for the offer of a trip to your hairdresser but I have promised DH I will do something with DD on Saturday morning so he has some time to himself that day.

QueenCadbury · 03/07/2013 09:56

So dh is wondering whether I have a bug as now have a headache too. No darling, it's hormones, accept that they exist as you have to put up with this for another 10 years until I go through the menopause properly. You'd think a doctor would know the difference between hormones and a bug Grin

mig glad you had a go at her. I can't bear obnoxiousness.

OP posts:
Sleepwhenidie · 03/07/2013 09:59

That's exactly it with clothes DH doesn't like Mig, it sort of takes the shine off doesn't it...speaking of which, he thought the Joseph jumper a bit "old lady" but loved the leggings (which surprised me). So that's dress and jumper going back and fab leggings staying, but even better news is that they have been reduced further, to £120 from the £170 I paid so I have just re-ordered them - result Grin! So they are now pinned.

I also ordered these beauties yesterday - I saw a very glam woman wearing them in Selfridges a few weeks ago and had to ask her where she got them - v Wang-alike, no?

Mig where are you in the country, is there anything at all any of us can do to help you out?

mignonette · 03/07/2013 10:04

I'm London/East. Your kind words are helping so much. Sometimes I just do not want to talk about things IRL- I feel a bit of a drama Llama at the moment so this helps.

Went to see the possible adopt cat last night but he turned out to be a demonic monster demanding attention and when the fosterer took too long to acknowledge him, he bit her. So back to the drawing board with that one! One day my cat will come but not at the moment as too much on.

Like the Theory leggings Sleep. I used to have a pair of BodyMaps from the 80's and can you believe it that I cannot find them?

Queen can doctor s differentiate between hormones and a bug? Now there's a question!

Fedupnagging · 03/07/2013 10:16

Just having a quick catch up for any last minute ideas before I hit the shops but didn't want to not post- mig, so sorry your family are having such an awful time. Having a baby is supposed to be such a joyous time that if anything goes wrong, the shock is so hard hitting. Hope you manage to get to your brother and I have everything crossed.

Annianni · 03/07/2013 10:29

I was watching these Hudson boots on ebay last week... they've been relisted for less money if anyone's interested?

I did have a couple of things in my basket in the Me+em sale, but came to my senses and closed the window.
Apart from boots, I don't want to spend any money for a while.

Who linked the All Saints sale?
Was it Grumpy?

I've ordered yet more boots, and it's all your fault...
pretty grey boots

This is the bag that I swapped jacket number 1 for. It's very soft and squishy.

And these are the boots I ordered yesterday

I'm putting off ringing Hotpoint, as I know they'll say we have to pay the call out fee off 100 ish... whereas dh is saying we shouldn't have to pay anything... and he wants a new machine.
They've been out 3 times already, in the first 12 months.
I think there's some new eu guidelines about how long white goods should last for... i'll have a google before I ring.

I hate washer/dryers, they never last long imo.
I will have room for 2 machines here, when we get the bedrooms finished... and my dining room gets turned into a utility :o

Annianni · 03/07/2013 10:31

Bad news on the cat Mig.
I'm sure that there's a nice fluffy pussy out there just waiting for you.

Thinking of you and your family today Flowers

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 10:36

Mignon I'm in SE London so am relatively close. Pm if there's anything I can do to help.

I agree about P Lim, Proenza etc. I've decided I prefer the newer designers as it feels closer to the creative process. A bigger, older brand starts to get to status-y for me. So when Prada stamps their shoes and Gucci use their logos etc. I tend to avoid the ones that are at the cashing in stage. Also even though I love some of VB's stuff I can't get past the fact that it isn't designer-led so wouldn't buy it (not that I'd pay that much). But the newer and smaller ones you can see them designing each year.

Sleep I love your purchases. Especially the leggings. May be too warm on Saturday? They are fabulous. I'm glad the health scare was ok.

Amber I like the clutch, good buy.

Grumpy I really like them, I think the block heel ones are my favourites. Glad the earrings and cuff are fantastic. Your description with the panama hat made me want some and I don't have my ears pierced Grin.

Linus they are lovely, I can't do sandals sadly! Love the McQueen, especially the back.

Dry I knew it! You are perfect for the delicate prettiness of Erdem. Ha at having to go out, love Preen for you too.

Liberty my only rules are not too uncomfortable in the hot weather. So probably a loose t and skirt on Saturday. Lol at legs, they are just normal really. Grin

Hi Ruby!

Anni how annoying about your washing machine.

QueenC enjoy the choc, my birthday fell on the day my period started last year and it pretty much ruined it. I felt awful all night.

MrsR good luck to your dh, is he still in touch with the other options? Might be worth another chat.

ok that's pretty long, will post!

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 10:37

Shop I liked the first necklace too, but both were good.

shopafrolic · 03/07/2013 10:41

Was feeling left out there for a minute Marsha! Did you see I finally - after a year or more, have a Dagmar sweater hanging in my wardrobe?
Am wearing my new Current Elliott skinnies today - so lovely and soft. Weather is lousy here today, can't believe it's going to be hot this weekend ATM.

Does anyone have experience selling old jewellery please?
I have some old pieces - some massive freshwater pearl earrings, a gold fine chain necklace and bracelet, a solid gold crucifix, a white gold and diamond (just chips) ring from an ex..... I wondered if I took them to a jewellers would they let me trade them in and then add some money to buy a new piece? Any ideas?

AmberNectarine · 03/07/2013 10:42

Am I the only person who doesn't get PMT? Sounds horrible, hugs to QC
