Mig I am so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you and your family today Sad

Bloody machines Anni. Theres always a bloody machine to be fixed in this house. That or the bloody car!

Lots of great links everyone! LOVE that All Saints dress. I'm on a self imposed spending ban but keep thinking about it with sandals in summer and leather leggings in winter. Hmmmmm

I so wish I was going to the meet up. It would be amazing to talk fashion to like mindeds for a couple of hours. I work from home and live with DH and teenage DS so chances to indulge clothes talk are v v limited.

Still awaiting delivery of bikini . The 2 bags of Percy Pigs I ate yesterday are not a step in the right direction!

Decameron · 03/07/2013 10:47

Mignonette, I am so sorry about what your family is going through, really awful.

Anni, we have a washer/dryer combo, it's rubbish, would never buy one again. The clothes come out wetter than they go in. Anyway, lovely bag and boots.

I ordered Me & Em ruched skirt full price this morning but if they hurry up and reduce the prices, I'll reorder along with a long list of other things I want from them.

I don't wear maxis either, Liberty. Also clumsy and don't think they look as good in SW London as by the pool!

Nice one on the dress, Sleep.

Lots of chocolate, QueenC!

Decameron · 03/07/2013 10:48

I don't either, Amber.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 03/07/2013 10:51

Amber I don't get P.M.T.

Some might say that I am a ratty bitch all the time Grin

mignonette · 03/07/2013 10:52

Might be more profitable selling jewellery to a private buyer Shop as I imagine a jeweller would only give you the weight of gold price? i'm not that knowledgeable about this though...

Marsha yes to your comments on the design process and commercialisation of fashion. Whilst it is hard for young or new designers to actually make money, surely being bought out by the big LMVH conglomerates cannot be the only solution? Am awaiting with trepidation how Christopher Kane will go now he has been bought out. Roland Mouret serves as a warning......I respect VB enormously and a friend was at her first show and commented on her technical knowledge but yes her stuff is over priced....As for L'Wren Scott who seems to cater for a very specific customer...Didn't Camilla Long say her latest collection appears to be aimed at a truckstop Hooker? Bit hard on truckstop hookers if you ask me....Mind you when was CL known for her sartorial elegance or decency towards women in general?

Like the pretty Jonas boots Anni

MrsRadicchio · 03/07/2013 10:52

I don't really get PMT. Hate periods though. Haven't had very many since end 2009 as pregnant and bfing DSx2. Will be sad when I have to go back to having them monthly.

Paris think you asked if I had a project 333 board - I do now. It doesn't have much on it as a lot of the stuff is old. How do I upload my own pics onto pin??

Anni I have lost track of your boot hunt - were the Marant ones no good?

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 10:52

Ha Shop I know I always rabbit on but miss some, takes ages Grin

Re PMT, I'm not sure I even get it. I just can't drink alcohol on the day, I feel bloated and tired. Plus before birthday ds2 gave me a hard time in the night, grr. Really hope it doesn't happen for Saturday. He's getting better now, so hopefully not. I loathe feeling tired when out.

Paris it would be great if you could come to next one, always more the merrier, are you far away?

Foxy I missed your post that you couldn't make it, what a shame! Will you be free for the October one? Will be fab to meet you.

mignonette · 03/07/2013 10:54

Yes I have been told my tongue speaks as a viper with PMS but i don't actually get anything other than breasts a size larger and a stomach full of bloat. Which makes me feel mean............But no more temper tantrums than in any other week.............

MrsRadicchio · 03/07/2013 10:55

project 333 pinboard

santamarianovella · 03/07/2013 10:56

shop try going to different jewelers, gold prices are high,so you can make a pretty good profit if you sell gold, you wont get a lot from diamonds or pearls though. dont trade them for something else, use the money elsewhere.

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 10:57

Mignon I know it is hard to be profitable, building a label takes so much £ and investment. I think my five milli-seconds at one of the small now big well-regarded design labels opened my eyes. They really are very talented and hard working. Just sheer effort and creativity year after year.

Anni did you keep the Marant boots?

shopafrolic · 03/07/2013 10:57

I'm always tired when I go out Marsha I just assumed it was an occupational hazard of being a 40 yr old mum?

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 10:59

Probably Shop Grin But my goodness I suspect ds2 knows when I at least need to be passable!

shopafrolic · 03/07/2013 11:03

I never got PMT pre DS but nowadays I am a raging madwoman.

santamarianovella · 03/07/2013 11:04

mig i know its a difficult time for you,but if your interested in this kind of stuff,i advise to watch the last emperor ,its about the last year of valentino as head designer of his brand and how he left the house after hating being controlled by the fashion group that bought him.

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 11:07

I should also say I'm sure Prada and Gucci does some gorgeous stuff but it's out of my price range anyway.

I do like it when the designer gets the kudos, Marant and Philo etc.

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 11:08

That sounds good Santa.

Sleepwhenidie · 03/07/2013 11:15

I don't usually get PMT as such but I sometimes get hit by incredible tiredness the day before period starts once every few months - you know like pregnancy tiredness? Just have to stop and grab a nap, not like me at all. Horrible.

Still struggling through this morning, can't face the gym. Last night was a bit odd, we didn't know anyone at the dinner, the person who invited us cried off at the last minute with hay fever. There were about 20 of us, other people all very nice - DH and I ended up sat next to a very well known TV actress and her husband, got on so well that they invited themselves back to our house for a drink...all very surreal but meant that we really did drink too much. I have comforted myself with latte and egg & bacon mini baguette from Pret but still not much improved..have to go and get DS1 and then head to DS1's nursery picnic on Parliament Hill in a bit..and its wet out there..yeugh. Have on distressed jeans, orange gap vest and open knit white duffy sweater. Still no idea what I will wear on Saturday.

Sleepwhenidie · 03/07/2013 11:17

On the subject of Gucci - I don't usually go for big names like that either but I am keeping my eye on that top on NAP, still not reduced Sad

santamarianovella · 03/07/2013 11:19

marsha i dont get prada these days, she used to design very unique things with a twist. now its like she is concentrating on bags and shoes and thats it,gone is the creative factor. gucci is very "out there" but the quality of their ready to wear is second to none, i have a few pieces by them, some are over 6 years old and they still look new.

i think marant and pheobe are the hottest names right now, pheobe cant turn anything into gold.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 03/07/2013 11:20

MrsR Thanks for the 333 link. I'll have a nose now.

Marsha I'm not that far, East Midlands. Next time you have a MU I'll have to be more organised and bagsy the sofa at my friends house in Hipster Hackney!

I need to go to London soon to buy another 2 bikinis. I was thinking of going to VS but if they're opening one in Meadowhall it would be cheaper to go there. However, I hate Meadowhall. Those big, out of town shopping places make me sad.

That Valentino doc sounds interesting Santa. I'll give that a watch one evening when DH is out.

santamarianovella · 03/07/2013 11:21

*can ,not cant !

mignonette · 03/07/2013 11:21

Santa ashamed to say I haven't seen the Last Emperor so I will treat myself to a viewing later on if its online/netflix. I bought The September Issue on DVD and have watched it several times and find it such a rush watching those amazing scenes. I also liked Pret A Porter by Robert Altman.

Hope it dried up for you Sleep as Parliament hill would be so wonderful (long for some windswept outdoors, I do)...

What are your Saturday options Sleep?

That must have been a fascinating job marsha to be there at the start of the building of a label. Major job envy going on here!

mignonette · 03/07/2013 11:23

Project 333- Fantastic Idea!!!!

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 11:30

It was for about two weeks Mignon so fairly short, plus I wasn't paid but just checking it out in my twenties. I toyed with the idea of fashion stuff when younger, not the marketing but creating. It was very interesting to hear the designers take on things. They had a strong market in Japan at the time and were doing Fashion Week in the UK, but got even better known afterwards. It did actually lead onto other things by accident (leaving stuff at friend's house) so was good in a way!

Paris next one is October I think, when we all jump on QueenC buying a dress, or something like that Grin. I'm sure champagne etc will be included in the process.
