I'll give you a shout if I go One......grumpy too

OneLittleLady · 02/07/2013 21:27

Excellent, I have free travel in South Yorkshire so I can enjoy a free train ride Grin

Annianni · 02/07/2013 21:56

There's a Victoria's Secret opening in Trafford soon too.

Well I've had an eventful day...

I returned jacket number 1 and swapped it for a black bag I've liked for ages. I've pinned it... I'll link tomorrow.

I returned the woolly beast...if it makes the model look chunky, Christ knows what it's doing to me :o

I tried some nice Hudson boots, I think they were called Cosmos.
They didn't fit me obviously Hmm

But I've ordered a sale pair of Hudson's online and will try with an insole etc.

And then the fun began...

I put my washer on...
Aqualtis washer/dryer, bought end of April last year for £550

There was a burning smell towards the end of the wash cycle, so I turned it off and thought I'd deal with it later.

We had a repair man out in April when it blew up previously.

An hour later it turned itself back on and started pumping water out the door, all over my kitchen floor.
It wouldn't turn off.

Dsd helped me put towels down on the floor, we had to fill buckets. It just kept pumping water out.

I had to turn the stop cock off, turn the taps on, drag the full washer out to get to the socket... during which the door opened and gallons gushed across the floor.

Luckily my kitchen is a step down from the rest of the house.

All my towels, tea towels etc were drenched.
And various local family members are washing and drying 3 big bin bags full of soggy things for me tonight.

The phone call tomorrow morning to hotpoint should be fun!

santamarianovella · 02/07/2013 21:57

liberty I think I will wear either Isabel marant wrap dress or splendid one,I'm sure I will change my mind on sat,and wear something else , I'm a bit nervous, like I'm meeting my in laws for the first time kind of nervousGrin and you will look great I'm sure.

OneLittleLady · 02/07/2013 22:00

Oh no Ani that sounds like a real kitchen drama! Hope you can get it sorted, having no washer is awful, I remember when mine broke and I had to hand wash everything, my hands have never been as sore as they were then!

I had my brother and sister over for dinner, and my sister did my nails for me. I'm not very good at doing my own nails so she comes over every few weeks to do them for me. I also had my second drum lesson today and the tutor said he was impressed at what I was able to do at such an early stage though I don't know if he was just buttering me up so I keep attending. Grin

Annianni · 02/07/2013 22:00

Fab bag Amber.

Hope you're mended soon One.

Lovely shoes Mig
And congrats to littlemig.

Annianni · 02/07/2013 22:07

I'll catch up with all the links tomorrow.

Glad you're ok Sleep.
Hope you managed to get your dress in time.

OneLittleLady · 02/07/2013 22:09

Just a side note, my drum lesson was before my shoulder locked! Just clarifying in case anyone was confused Grin physio came out and stretched it and massaged it and it seems ok now. Whole arm is swollen but that's not unusual for it. Will see what it's like tomorrow

shopafrolic · 02/07/2013 22:17

Well that was a very unstylish school meeting!
Anni poor you with the flooding. There was something on Watchdog recently about washing machines...... Useful aren't I?
Linus love love love my Me&em maxi - one of my best purchases this season
Santa dresses sound lovely. I'm looking forward to meeting you. I was super nervous last time but everyone was so lovely. I looked very casual compared to the glamazons.
Mig any messages for Tim when I see him on Sat?

Drywhiteplease · 02/07/2013 22:21

shop what were the others wearing?hee hee bet they thought you über chic.
Poor you Anni...

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 02/07/2013 22:25

Oh no Anni! I hate washer/dryers with a passion. We had one in Dubai and sometimes it would embark upon what we would term 'The Ramadan wash' - meaning it would take roughly a month to complete the cycle, randomly and of its own accord. And I remember more than one occasion where I aborted the programme due to the smell of burning. Pension it off and replace with separate machine and dryer.

I know I'm on a ban but.........this was too much of a bargain, versatile and good for holidays to pass up.

libertychick · 02/07/2013 23:09

Flipping heck Anni what a nightmare!!

Thanks for the feedback Santa and Shop. Like Shop I have no hope of getting my legs into public display shape before Saturday. I don't own a maxi, find them v tricky (ie tripping over myself on stairs!!). So it will probably be black jeans or black 7/8 trousers with the new Agnes B shirt which has long sleeves but I can roll them up. I don't have decent sandals either so either ballet flats or silver flip flops - that decision will be largely determined by whether I have time or not to paint my toenails! I'd like to have a haircut - trying to wangle the diary to have a long lunch on Friday. If my hair looks ok I'll care a lot less about what I am wearing. It's a shade too long ATM.

Meeting the in-laws is a great description Santa! My strategy is to drink my first glass of wine or pimms very fast then I won't care after that! Oh and must remember when drunk not to stare too much at novice's bling or Marsha's legs Grin

Mrs R sounds like you have taken a very sensible approach to 333. Looking forward to chatting about it on Saturday.

Great dress Grumpy - we'll have to have an MNV meet up at the races sometime in your honour.

mignonette · 03/07/2013 06:27

Ruby Welcome to you. Lots of de lurkers arriving! (Yay)...

Anni what a sodding (and sodden) nightmare. Nothing more guaranteed to make one panic.

One get better soon to your poor arm.

On a sober note, we had some awful news at 3 this morning, hence my early posts because i do not know what to do with myself. and am trying to keep my mind busy. MY SiL lives in mainland Europe and was due to have her 2nd child next week. My Brother took her to hospital last night because she felt something was wrong. They rushed her straight into theatre for a CS. She went into cardiac arrest, the baby was deprived of oxygen and is in SCBU with brain damage- they are pretty certain she will be significantly affected as she started fitting after requiring prolonged resus. She is on a ventilator and my SIl is in ITU. What do I do? I do not know what to do. Whether to get on a plane, stay here and wait. I cannot get hold of my Brother but he works a 60 hr week, has another child who will be very scared and is alone. How much more is my family expected to take this year?

Sorry to post on here. I thought about PMing one of you but felt that was even more of an imposition. Please keep talking about lovely fashion though, It is not inappropriate. I need distraction because I am going loopy sitting at home.

BrandyAlexander · 03/07/2013 06:46

Oh Mig, poor you and your family. I would text your brother and offer to go out. Check out your flights in meanwhile and yout logistics at home. How long can you be away for? Has she got family? If so, they may be rushing there too or want to? Do you have anyway of making contact? It might be your help is needed later rather than now. Just off to change ds nappy but will be back. Hugs xxx

OneLittleLady · 03/07/2013 06:47

Oh mig I'm so sorry. How awful for your brother and sister in law Sad Feel free to PM me if you need to, I may not be able to help much but I will listen. Fingers crossed they both pull through.

mignonette · 03/07/2013 06:53

Thank you Novice. I have been looking at flights and may even drive if I have to. It's never easy to take emergency leave because it is a logistical nightmare to arrange caseload cover but i will if I have to. I can be away as long as it takes. She has family and my Brother is fluent in the language so no communication worries for him.

I cannot believe this. I had my concerns because she wasn't being treated for a condition she developed during her pregnancy whereas here she would have been controlled with medication. She was going to be induced a few days ago then they postponed it and she developed another complication that was not treated and could have been. This is a country with a Health service supposedly superior to ours and there have been three red flags as far as we are concerned. (She also had Cancer several yrs ago so is high risk)...

mignonette · 03/07/2013 06:55

Thank you One. I am comforted by you all. It's wonderful how much support you can feel from people you have never met Flowers to MNVoguers.

Not very coherent today. Have had no real sleep

OneLittleLady · 03/07/2013 07:00

I'm sure I speak for us voguers when I say we are all here for you. I know it's difficult but try to stay calm. It won't help matters if you work yourself into a frenzy. Keep trying to get hold of your brother and ask him what he needs. Check the logistics of getting out to them if that's what your brother needs but try to stay calm as difficult as it is. [hugs]

QueenCadbury · 03/07/2013 07:02

Oh mig I was just catching up whilst eating breakfast but had to reply to you. How absolutely awful for you and your family. As novice said if you can sort it out logistically then I would go and support your db although hopefully sil family is out there? You can pm me anytime. I'm out for a bit this morning at toddler group but around otherwise.

mignonette · 03/07/2013 07:09

Thank you. Am trying to stay calm and put things in place so if I have to go I can go. Just cannot believe it.

Will try to distract myself by planning plane outfit. and worrying what to take. I think you all 'know' me enough by now to realise I am not being flip or trivialising the situation by saying that but rather trying to maintain some semblance of a normal life...

So, what's the weather like in Northern Europe?

Annianni · 03/07/2013 07:21

So sorry Mig, that's awful news.

I'm around today too xx

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 07:22

Oh Mig I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you can get away quickly. I am around today too if you need anything.

LinusDKD · 03/07/2013 07:24

Morning!

McNally those MK heels are a gorgeous colour but that button thing on the heel does seem a bit unnecessary.

Santa I love wrap dresses, can you link the Marant and Splendid ones? Or are they on your Pinterest?

One drum lessons, how cool!

Anni hope your washer/dryer can be fixed. It sounds like something out of The Twilight Zone:"Hotpoint Possessed".

Mig congratulations to your daughter!

As the weather is foul I am wearing my Jimmies (yes, again) and this Splendid long sleeved tee in white, which is seriously flattering and just the right kind of white for me.

Henley

Will probably wear my iris blue Superga when I go out as it is pretty wet outside.

LinusDKD · 03/07/2013 07:28

So sorry mig, whilst I was typing my post you posted yours.

What horrible news, is there anything I can do for you?

QueenCadbury · 03/07/2013 07:52

Talking of weather what's happened to the sun? It's damp here, must have been raining overnight. Back out come the jeans and converse.

Bloody hormones are still making me the shittiest bitch ever Angry. Need lots of chocolate to make me Smile. I've just cancelled my night out as I know when I'm like this I just have to be kind to myself and rest
I.e. spend lots of time on MN
