MarshaBrady · 27/06/2013 13:31

And thank you for books recs! I bought American Wife. I'm the same Grumpy has to be light. I did all that intense reading when younger, shelves full of it. But now I want something easy and engaging.

santamarianovella · 27/06/2013 13:40

thanks for the good wishes, you are all so lovely! we had a great evening,so nice to enjoy a child free meal ,in a proper restaurant with proper food.
DH liked the dress...a lot Grin.

i didnt see any chanel, but a group of foreign women were dripping in cartier, one of them was wearing the most gorgeous white gold pave diamond love bracelet,i could not stop looking at it,swoon worthy.

linus i love the idea of a footstool for you bag ! the french really know the true value of bags!, oh and i have the crumpet carmen dress, its was my best AW buy, very easy to dress, looks great with tights and biker boots ,i highly recommend it.

dry you have my sympathy! and just yesterday you were having a lovely date with your new flame nancy Grin.

mig loooove your shoulder move! im clumsy,so dh would seriously think i dislocated my shoulder,

haha yes a footstool is genius. the floor! no way nancy.

foxysocks · 27/06/2013 13:43

shop sorry to be a pain but can you relink that ring measuring guide? i managed to loose the tab. thanks xx

QueenCadbury · 27/06/2013 13:54

Oh goodness dry, good luck with that. Hope you manage to find a suitable bush to hide in when you need the loo. A bunch of 4yo would find it hilarious to see Mrs Dry weeing Grin!

I seriously need to start reading again and spend less time on MN. I'm about to join a book club so hopefully that will inspire me. I used to love all the classics but can't imagine reading something so heavy now.

mig hope you're ok. The best advice I ever received as a nursing student was that to look after others, you must look after yourself. Please take time off if you need to with your head injury.

Dh had the frugal talk with me. We've basically spent loads on the house this month, have paid the balance of our holiday and paid for my Marrakech trip. I'm not going to impose a spending ban as they never work but any new purchases are going to have to be seriously justifiable. Think I'll try and not spend over the next couple of months and wait now till autumn especially as I have the birthday dress purchase then!

LinusDKD · 27/06/2013 14:17

God that Preen dress is beautiful!!! Soooo tempted. But I bet they don't deliver to Switzerland.

Love the colour of that Stella bra!

LinusDKD · 27/06/2013 14:28

And that Splendid dress is lovely too, but as we all know I am not an xs.Wink

Santa, tha reminds me, I would like to pin that love bracelet (sans diamonds) in white gold. DH has actually gone in store and enquired about the price

santamarianovella · 27/06/2013 14:37

queen i was a great reader in my teens and at university . i went through a russian phase and read really heavy works by tolstoy and dostoevsky, but i cant see myself reading stuff like that now. i prefer reading light trashy novels,or suspense ones like the girl with dragon tattoo which was phenomenal.

im planing on doing the exact thing . limit my shopping for a couple of months unless its something i know will sell out fast. its so much easier to do it now as the stores are still filled with sales stuff, and nothing exciting will come out till end of august and early september.

linus its beyond gorgeous. everything else about her was fake but her bling was the real deal.

LinusDKD · 27/06/2013 14:39

My red Henrietta's have arrived and they are perfect! I was a bit afraid about the size but the 38 fits like a glove. My quest for red shoes is over! Now all I need is that red scarf.

LinusDKD · 27/06/2013 14:56

I used to be a great reader, even as a child. The amount times my mum had to come into my room after midnight and tell me off because I was still reading.

I do prefer light reading now as well, mainly because with the DC I don't have the time to really get swept away by a story.

So I mainly read non-fiction now (although I loved the Stieg Larsson books) and biographies in particular.

I read them in bed on my Iphone before falling asleep. At the moment I am reading Wait for Me, the biography of the Duchess of Devonshire (Deborah Mitford, I love reading about the Mitfords) and I have also read the biographies of Miranda Hart, Clare Balding (all that racing lingo is so confusing Grumpy) and David Mitchell.

foxysocks · 27/06/2013 15:08

getting a kindle has brought back my love of reading. I did BA and masters in eng lit, and read avidly as a child, but dropped off the intensity through my 20s. getting a kindle means i have a whole library at my fingertips, it's so light and not harsh on the eyes like a backlit screen. i am once again devouring whole books in days.

still looking at the arty too shop, but i need to wait until July now. am owed a chunk of ££ from a project earlier this year so COULD use that, but instead I think i'll put it towards my india trip.

shopafrolic · 27/06/2013 15:11

Whole books in days? With a toddler? Dreams.......
Glad the shoes are perfect Linus good stuff
Marsha did you do it? Did you?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 27/06/2013 15:15

Great links today everybody.

Linus I enjoyed Clare's autobiography as she is very much a contemporary. Mitfords hugely fascinating too (I adored The Pursuit Of Love) - imagine my surprise when a little genaeology research done by my maternal uncle turned up the Mitfords in our family tree! Some good eggs, some rotten ones... Your taste in reading sounds quite like my own. Also, the J Crew spotted sweater you linked to has a less ££ doppelganger in Boden's AW13 preview, I have pre-ordered, of course.

Drove all the way to Nottingham today (about 40 mins) to get stowaway security tag removed from sweater, but now feel like I have a new sweater all over again.

Only remaining items to buy for summer are Panama hat, Tory Burch cuff and toothpick jeans (not really summer, but I want them NOW). Then I will be complete (until September) Wink

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 27/06/2013 15:20

spot the difference

MarshaBrady · 27/06/2013 15:30

Not yet Shop! Dh would kill me since we have oodles of cc costs this month that we couldn't cancel and yes... you know.

Hmm thinking about eBay. Could shift some stuff I have lying around.

Drywhiteplease · 27/06/2013 15:57

I survived! Grin
Marsha have created a book pin board........love reading, thrillers, historical thrillers, sentimental, autobiographies ( loved CBs ) anything........just need to get off MN!
Lovely links everyone.

OneLittleLady · 27/06/2013 16:12

My current read is a book about quantum physics......not sure if that's me bragging or not though Blush

I left the Max Mara dress, you were all right, I have no need for it and it would just sit in my wardrobe mocking me. I bought some thundercats converse instead Grin

GwendolynMoon · 27/06/2013 17:03

I absolutely love the navy Asos dress Mig just not sure when I would wear it. Being on maternity leave means a very different perspective on wardrobe needs! Wink

GwendolynMoon · 27/06/2013 17:06

Thundercats converse one?? Link please if poss? I am so jealous!

OneLittleLady · 27/06/2013 17:23

I've pinned them on my 'my style' pinterest board. Same name on there as here Smile
