Ok, so I feel I am about to commit perfume heresy here...
But Fracas? Really?
I ordered a sample, despite knowing from the notes that it wouldn't really be my kind of thing, (am not into floral perfumes as a rule, particularly not white florals.) But I wanted to smell it because, you know, it's a classic, and everyone goes on about how good it is, and sometimes it's good to get out of your comfort zone and so on and so on. Maybe this would be a floral I could learn to love...
...And well. I have never smelled anything so deeply disgusting in my life. Ugh! It's revolting! It smells as though someone has taken the kind of esters you find in pear drops, and mixed them carefully into a little bottle of nail varnish. It actually makes me feel nauseous and as though I'm on the brink of developing a migraine. An out and out scrubber IMHO.
I don't get it. Really really don't get it. Someone please come and tell me how wrong I am.
On a slightly more pleasant note, La Fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens is a very pleasing rose scent - real and round and jammy, with a little something spicy and peppery underneath. I like it a lot. Full bottle worthy I'd say, particularly if you love rose.
Wazamba by Parfums d'empire is very interesting. Captures the scent of a fragrant pine forest with absolute precision, then slowly morphs from pine needles to burning incense as time goes on. Very clever perfume, but not sure if I'd actually want to wear it.
Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle is also full of roses, with some... er... other stuff too. Very pleasant and clearly of a high quality, but just not for me. I find it a little dull honestly. Much prefer La Fille de Berlin. La Fille de Berlin knows who she is.
