Shiny new thread for some shiny new perfumes (and classics and niche brands)

People! www.cheapsmells.co.uk are having a MASSIVE sale! Just picked up ambre de cobochard for ?10...

ToysRLuv · 26/06/2013 13:39

Thanks for the tip, wilting. Will take a look.. Smile

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 26/06/2013 17:12

I love Ambre de Cabochard, it's one of my Under-A-Tenner-faves.

I'm a big fan of Cheap Snells, although I wish they'd change their name to something lovely like Budget Beauty or Scented Savers.

florascotia · 26/06/2013 18:45

Flowers Toys, that's very kind of you. So sorry not have replied before but it's been a very busy work day. I'll say 'no' to your thoughtful offer, however, because - Thanks also to Wilting- I've just been tempted in the Cheap Smells sale by another 'green' Balmain, Jolie Madame.

ToysRLuv · 26/06/2013 20:07

flora: That's all right! Let me know if you change your mind..

Fuzzybirds · 26/06/2013 21:01

Ooh Fancy Nights is only £5.99 in the cheapsmells sale, very tempted...

Also L'Artisan Sale has started today, am gutted I didn't check my emails earlier as Mimosa Pour Moi is down to £18 but already it's out of stock.

Coincidentally, I received a little bottle of vintage Vent Vert Parfum this morning (ebay steal) not sure how old it is, it's the square bottle with a B on the lid. It is indeed wonderful, a very green cut grass opening with a floral, soapy drydown.

wiltingfast · 26/06/2013 21:07

Glad to help! Picked up ma griffe too. Don't know either but happy to take a chance at that price!

Tried tobacco vanille on the way home. Omg. It was certainly something new! On me it is overpoweringly sweet, I mean crazy jammy raspberry jelly sweet. For some reason I was just not expecting that. I could just get a hint of a fab perfume but it was lost under the sweetness. Dh said it was like a sweetshop. It took about an hour to settle into something I might like but now (about 3h) it is just sweet again though nothing as bright as initially.

It was quite a ride tho! V much outside my comfort zone.

florascotia · 26/06/2013 21:16

That's the real vintage stuff, Fuzzy! The bottles with the green and white dotty ribbon and/or the strange yellowish 'quiff' on top are more modern.

Various images for comparison here:

I still remember receiving a bottle of the vintage parfum for my 21st birthday. It felt SO luxurious and grown up!

CointreauVersial · 26/06/2013 22:23

I received a freebie sample today, along with some make-up I ordered on line - La Perla EDT. I didn't have high hopes, especially as it was described as a chypre, with rose/patchouli notes, but wow, it was lovely. Really classic, balmy, sweet and warm.

Thanks for the Cheap Smells tip. I already have a cheapo Ambre de Cabochard (which I like, but can't get past the slightly plasticy note), but I'll see what else they have.....

BelleDameSansMerci · 27/06/2013 06:34

Wow, wilting that's quite different from how it smells on me. I hope. Grin

SOY: Tabacco Vanille again, coincidentally.

SOTD: Visa - Roberto Piagget

wiltingfast · 27/06/2013 10:23

I think it was a bit mad on me alright belle. About 4h in it finally seemed to integrate and I quite enjoyed it after that. I have quite dry skin, maybe that had an impact? It was quite a warm evening here also, maybe it would be better in cold weather? Or maybe it was just too big a contrast to all the greens I've been wearing.

Sotd, sunflowers again. Smells a bit artifical today for some reason.

ToysRLuv · 27/06/2013 11:32

SOTD: Samples of Apres L'Ondee and Eau d'Hiver. They're both nice, but particularly EdH is very faint, and now they're both just about gone and it's only been around an hour! Confused

Wilting: I forgot to answer about German e-bay. It's good. Got my a few bargains from there (not all the sellers will ship to Britain, though)..

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 27/06/2013 11:59

Toys- I didn't really "get" Eau d'Hiver OR Apres L'Ondee until I smelled one after the other. Amazing. Eau d'Hiver was OKish before, but once I smelled Apres L'Ondee and THEN EdH- Wow!

Apres L'Ondee really brings it out, not that I'm advising that you wear them together.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 27/06/2013 12:01

flora- I scored my Jolie Madame off Cheap Smells too! Buy it up before it runs out. They're not making it anymore.

ToysRLuv · 27/06/2013 12:34

Chocs: How did you find their longevity? I've got each on the back of one hand and keep sniffing back and forward, wondering if my nose is broken..

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 27/06/2013 17:09

Toys- not great. Apres L'Ondee slightly longer than Eau D'Hiver, which I like but don't love.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 27/06/2013 17:10

On second thoughts, maybe you should wear them together for double the longevity? :-)

FrugalFashionista · 27/06/2013 17:42

L'Artisan Parfumeur sale is on if someone is interested!

pocketandsweet · 27/06/2013 17:47

No Premier Figuier though:(

FrugalFashionista · 27/06/2013 17:53

Pocket look at the ladies gift sets, I think one of them has 15ml of PF!

HarumScarum · 27/06/2013 18:50

Pocket, look at this:

www.artisanparfumeur.com/shop/body/dry-body-oil-premier-figuier-1020890.html

pocketandsweet · 27/06/2013 18:52

You are right it does. I hmmd a bit and decided since it is P. F. Extreme that I have sampled and loved ( haven't smelt original PF yet). So I thought I would wait til I get to London and buy a full bottle.

pocketandsweet · 27/06/2013 18:54

Can anyone tell me how different/same PF and PF Extreme are? That dry oil sounds like a bargain.

ToysRLuv · 27/06/2013 20:49

pocket: No idea, sorry. Never tried either!

Now sampling my bargain bottle of Tea for Two (seller on e-bay turned out to be a RL acquaintance, so gave a massive discount Grin ). Really like it! Honeyed black tea.
