I hope this is still acceptable!

Dresses are so, so short everywhere!

Leggings mean I don't have to fake tan Blush and keep me warm!

Will you be wearing leggings this summer?

No because I have a policy of not wearing things that I wore last when I was a teenager. I only wear dresses that are long enough to cover my sturdy thighs which are the colour of frozen chicken and I like my lower legs (apart from the colour) so not worried there.

Didactylos · 24/05/2013 18:05

with the way I feel this summer Ill be wearing a burqua
(and yes, with leggings)

Rubena · 24/05/2013 18:08

No

meglet · 24/05/2013 18:11

Yes.

I have grim (hairy) legs and work in a freezing air conditioned office.

SgtTJCalhoun · 24/05/2013 18:15

I think this moot. It doesn't appear that there is going to be a summer.

I am wearing leggings today actually with A BIG WOOLY LONG JUMPER! in late May Sad.

GeorginaWorsley · 24/05/2013 18:15

Doesn't offend me,but I don't.
I wear alot of knee length dresses when it is warmer, with bare legs.
I think it is a tiny bit 'dated' ,but if it suits your lifestyle and legs then ignore me Grin

hugoagogo · 24/05/2013 18:18

I last wore leggings in 1995 with my Neds t shirt. [wistful]

It seems a popular look and I am sure it's comfy, but not for me.

SundaySimmons · 24/05/2013 18:20

Yes. I'm old and like to wear summer dresses and find leggings a great way to still wear dresses and sandals.

dexter73 · 24/05/2013 18:22

lol at tunic and leggings causing a hard on!

moosemama · 24/05/2013 18:36

I find this really depressing.

So we aren't supposed to wear linen trousers, chinos and capris don't flatter those of us that are generous of rear thigh and/or have cankles, maxi dresses don't suit anyone and now we can't wear leggings to facilitate non-embarrassing wearing of summer dresses either.

Apparently summer is only for thin people and the rest of us have to resign ourselves to either staying indoors out of sight or being a fashion faux pas no matter what we wear. Sad

BegoniaBampot · 24/05/2013 18:37

Yes but you didn't see how hot I looked, he couldn't wait to rip those leggings off! Or maybe he's just perverted.

polyhymnia · 24/05/2013 18:37

No way. Just get my dresses long enough to be on knee.

Would only contemplate leggings with something that is v obviously a long top/ tunic ( eg with Breton stripes). And even then only round house or at most to local supermarket.

KirjavaTheCat · 24/05/2013 18:44

I think with the right dress it can look pretty and demure. With some summery pumps and a cardigan.

But then I only wear what I feel comfortable in, and the only way I feel comfortable in a dress is if I'm at least attempting to cover my legs up a bit. So sue me.

CremeEggThief · 24/05/2013 18:44

Tunics and leggings.

Dresses and tights.

Knee length or longer dresses and bare legs, if it gets over 18°.

scaevola · 24/05/2013 18:47

I don't like the look.

But I think the only way I'll get into summer dresses this year is with full arctic-proof thermals underneath, and that'll probably look much the same.

itsonlysubterfuge · 24/05/2013 18:55

I never wear things in fashion, I just like to be comfortable so I wear leggings no matter the length of the skirt/dress. They are long too, and even longer because I'm only 5'2".

BonAppetit · 24/05/2013 18:55

Definitely. Legs shape good still! but have some eczema on shins so yes yes and saves shaving legs too!

Bumblebee333 · 24/05/2013 19:00

I frequently wear leggings with dresses. I do have good legs though so I don't mind baring them if the weather is right.

MiniTheMinx · 24/05/2013 19:15

Leggings with mini dresses
Bare legs with a long dress in summer
Thick tights in winter
I don't wear knee length or calf length, never have
Either long or short and nothing in between

TenthMuse · 24/05/2013 19:16

I have done for years (with tunics, not very summery dresses), and will be again this summer. My legs are fine, but I find it really useful when I don't want to wear trousers/jeans and it's just too cold to go bare-legged. Not a big fan of tights in summer - leggings are infinitely more comfortable.

I'm an MA student, and it's a really popular look with many of the Bright Young (and distinctly non-chavvy) Things on my course, so I don't think it's that dated either!

Uniqlo has leggings in every possible colour and shape. There clothes are lovely, they obviously expect us to wear them.

SgtTJCalhoun · 24/05/2013 19:21

Their not there

Chivetalking · 24/05/2013 19:29

I don't wear dresses due to being grim of leg but had never really absorbed the leggings escape hatch.

I'd put them together without a second thought. No-one's likely to comment even if they do think they're chavvy Hmm or dated.
