Have you used the Brazilian Hair Straightening / Blow-Dry Home Keratin Treatment from Amazon?

I have read lots of threads about this kit and people seem to rave about it to reduce the frizziness in hair but I remember reading a while back that some contain formaldehyde and I concerned that this one contains it. I have read the ingredients but am unsure if formaldehyde goes by other chemical names?
Just worried I'll do damage to myself for the sake of frizz free hair.
Any ideas?

Grin Grin Grin Grin

no frizz what so ever. practically straight, and it feels amazing.

i used the tresemme keratin shampoo and conditioner and they are lovely and thick and creamy. the conditioner is light and fluffy.

i am amazed.

Hi all, been following this thread, did the treatment a couple of weeks ago. My hair is mega thick and wavy/frizzy, and now it's smooth, shiny and quick to dry. It's still wavy, but really quick to straighten if I want to - five minutes instead of 30.

Best thing is my fringe - before I'd have to blow-dry and straighten every day, but now a couple of minutes blast with a hair-dryer and it's done Grin

So really pleased - only downside is my hair seems to get greasy more quickly, and needs washing daily, where before I could go three days easily.

Does anyone know if softened water will make the treatment wash out more quickly, because it's salt, and you're told to use salt-free shampoo? I have to use soft water because it's the only thing that clears my dandruff...

Overall really pleased though - to those dithering, just do it!

oreoaddict · 16/06/2013 16:31

coco Smile Smile Smile Wish I could see a before and after pic! You must be really chuffed.

betty You have to wash your hair every day now?! That would really piss me off. I've heard of this happening quite a lot and it would be enough to put me off tbh. I'd hate to wake up with really greasy hair every morning.

Has anyone else on here had that problem?

primallass · 16/06/2013 17:38

Ordered!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 17/06/2013 10:06

oreoaddict · 17/06/2013 11:54

Thank you! Smile

Helennn · 17/06/2013 14:48

Coco, i am like you, straight hair doesnt suit me. Is it possible to have it frizz free but not poker straight? Dont suppose i could have a pm could I? Am genuinely very tempted. Thanks

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 17/06/2013 19:01

pmd you helennn

Hopasholic · 17/06/2013 21:13

Well just shampooed after 3 days! Have to say, it's A LOT straighter then I thought it would be, can't quite believe it! Its straight but not GHD kinda straight IYSWIM. I haven't really styled it, just given it a blast with the hairdryer.
I am pleased with it though as it means I can just wash it and leave it to dry, which is a definite bonus on holiday.
It is very glossy and silky Smile
I'll be interested to see if it will still hold a curl using the babyliss big hair or heated ceramic curlers.
Keep you posted!

(BTW I did clip my hair back as I just couldn't bear it hanging in my face, I haven't been left with any noticeable kinks, oreo if you're worried about it being too flat, I tend to take the top 3rd and use a claw type clip at the back which gives a lot of height on top preventing the moonface look!)
Grin

oreoaddict · 18/06/2013 09:15

Hopasholic, you must be happy with that! Smile Glad to hear you weren't left with any kinks. I'm not sure I could bear not clipping it back either. Yeah, the moonface look, isn't a good one is it Grin Glad you managed to avoid it.

I get the impression you think it's maybe a little too straight Hmm You have similar hair to me, naturally, don't you? I don't think I'd mind it much straighter, as long as it looked healthy and I still had a bit of wave when I left it to dry naturally. Do you think you'll be braving the air dry next time? Do you have any before and after pics which you wouldn't mind sharing?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 18/06/2013 11:43

Oreo, I left mine to air dry last night instead of blow drying and I was definitely left with a slight wave so definitely not poker straight for me. I ran the ghds through it this morning.

I was thinking that even if it does turn out a little straighter than you want id say its worth it to lose the frizz and the reaction to damp weather. I went out in the rain yesterday and my hair didn't frizz up at all and for that I am truly grateful Grin

oreoaddict · 18/06/2013 12:16

Yeah well I definitely want to lose the frizz. Just finished doing my hair and I am soooooo sick of it! It takes bloody ages! It looks nice when I'm done, but when you look at it closely, you can see how damaged it is. Does the treatment repair or hide the look of split ends? I have very dry ends, which I refuse to cut off because I want to keep the length Grin Still aiming for waist length! The bits round the sides are especially split though. They're actually a much lighter colour than the rest of my hair because they're so damaged. Hoping this would help with all that. Am I expecting too much? Confused

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 18/06/2013 12:19

No you aren't, it has drastically improved my hair. much smoother and sleeker. that's what keratin does. fills and smooths any 'holes' in the hair make up, iykwim.

oreoaddict · 18/06/2013 12:23

coco I'm really impressed with your speedy replies Grin There's no waiting around with you is there!

Did you have a problem with split ends before?

oreoaddict · 18/06/2013 13:00

Well I take it all back coco, you've made me wait at least 40 minutes now Grin tut tut

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 18/06/2013 13:11
Grin

You've made it very clear that I am just lazy MNing all day!! Off to make lunch now, honest. maybe another ten mins wont hurt

yes I do suffer with split ends and often just lop off a good three inches to get rid of them so I'm hoping this stuff will help the ends and encourage some growth, to replenish what I chop off.

oreoaddict · 18/06/2013 13:17

Haha! I think another 10 minutes could be potentially very damaging Wink You won't find me getting stuck MNing!

Do you chop off your own split ends? Brave.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 18/06/2013 16:35

No! Shock Grin I keep my hairdresser in business!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 18/06/2013 16:36

Oh and I've just got drenched in the rain and my hair has dried quite kinky but no frizz.

Pinkflipflop · 18/06/2013 16:39

Can I see the before and after pics coco pls?!

EuphemiaLennox · 19/06/2013 10:32

I'm thinking of trying this, but I don't want poker straight hair.

I use straighteners on my hair every other day, but I use the them to give body and oomph usually curling the ends slightly under or out using the straightners to add to the body. My hair naturally is shoulder length very fine and flat but frizzy with odd kinks.

So my question is, does this product basically 'set' your hair in the style into which you add the heat and leave it for a few days? I'm guessing this is the case as you can't put it up tie it back etc.

So if I straightened it after application but used my add body flicky techniques would it set it into this style while the effect lasted or would I wash and end up with dead straight hair?

I'd thought a Brazilian blow dry was about setting your hair into a style to reduce need for styling, but this product seems to be about straightness, so do I need something else?

primallass · 19/06/2013 11:09

Mine has been dispatched but I am very worried about not washing it for 3 days. I might have to do the claw clip thing but my hair is very 'suggestible' and kinks easily.
