I have read lots of threads about this kit and people seem to rave about it to reduce the frizziness in hair but I remember reading a while back that some contain formaldehyde and I concerned that this one contains it. I have read the ingredients but am unsure if formaldehyde goes by other chemical names?
Just worried I'll do damage to myself for the sake of frizz free hair.
Any ideas?

ooooo Hopasholic, your hair sounds just like mine and flat as a pancake hair really doesn't suit me either, so really intrigued to hear how your hair turns out. Is your hair really thick too?

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 09:44

oh and good luck! Smile

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 14/06/2013 10:39

well i woke up less kinked than i would have on a normal day its staying straight relatively well. not greasy at all really. shower in my shower cap quick o over with ghds on my fringe and that's that. still feels like i have product on my hair but doesn't feel dirty yet. trying hard not to touch it or tuck it behind my ears. not flat at all either. i can't wait for sunday Grin

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 11:50

Yeah I bet Grin It must be driving you mad not being able to touch it. I worry I'm going to end up looking like the girl from the ring Confused if I can't tuck it behind my ears.

Looking forward to your sunday update!

Hopasholic · 14/06/2013 12:47

Right then! Tis done!

The shampoo:
Definitely need to shampoo twice. The first application didn't lather up but the second one did. God knows what's in it but my hair has never been so squeaky clean! I gave it a good comb through beforehand as my hair without a ton of conditioner is awful. It combed through afterwards ok though.

I left my hair to dry on its own while I got on with a bit of tidying up then gave it a blast with the hairdryer.

Application
After doing the first section with the brush provided, I binned it off, just scooped some on my fingers and slapped it on then combed each section. It doesn't smell but did sting my eyes a bit. Didn't take as long as I thought ( probably due to slapdash method)

Drying
Took about 20-30 min. Didn't style it, as knew it was going to be straightened. Felt very nice and soft, even at this stage.

Straightening
Again took about 20-30 min. Easy enough to do. Hair gets very hot but I always straighten using a comb.

The finished look Smile
Well it's smooth, straight, and very shiny. But sorry oreo it does look flat as it has been straightened within an inch of its life.
I do look like Morticia (Sp?).Grin
I figure though, as I'm going to wear it either curly or tucked behind ears/fringe clipped back I can do this now and just straighten it at night.

Can't wait to see if it's actually worked in 3 days time or if I'll be back to the Anita Dobson look. I'll let you know!

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 13:16

Hopasholid, nooooooooooo! Not flat! Tbf, I just couldn't see how if you're straightening each section a million and one times, how you wouldn't end up with the pump water, flat look. Coconuts, what's your secret to avoid this? Did you use a comb when straightening? I never have.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 14/06/2013 14:11

i blow dry over a big round brush to add volume and always straighten with the comb chase method.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 14/06/2013 14:13

it probably does look flatter than it normally would today if im honest but you can't gauge how it'll look after the three days purely by how it looks now a its covered with a product. it isn't a true representation. when the product is washed out it'll be much better.

janmoomoo · 14/06/2013 14:17

I have just done this for the third time, just before I go on my hols. I lurve this product. It usually lasts about ten weeks before I start to notice it is starting to go all big and frizzy during the day again. I will see how long it lasts on my hols but if it only lasts a few weeks I will just do it again when I get home. It really is a saviour from any kind of styling and palaver on holiday. Just shake and go!!

It is easy to do, the drying takes the longest and the smell is overpowering, but the straightening is not a problem if you straighten your hair normally. I dont find it gets too greasy on the three days and it doesnt smell. I do straighten out the odd kink and put it in a shower cap when I shower. I say go for it girls!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 14/06/2013 14:17

when straightening you don't need to squeeze hard a gentle sweep is enough.

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 14:18

I've never been able to dry my hair with a brush. Can't get the angle right. I tend to just run my fingers through it as I dry. I might give it another go. Whenever I've been to the hairdressers though and they use a round brush to get volume (not that I need it at this stage) but as soon as they start straightening it and straightening it and straightening it Confused all volume has vanished and my face looks really round! grrrrrr

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 14:29

Jan, what is your hair type normally? Just wondering because 10 weeks doesn't sound like a long time to me. Is it safe to use it more than every 3 months?

I've deliberately straightened my hair much more today to prepare me for what's coming Grin I look a bit 90's grungy today actually. Think I've gone too far....

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 14/06/2013 15:03

but if it looks flat it'll only be for three days. after that you shouldn't need to straighten as much.

stop the procrastination Grin

Hopasholic · 14/06/2013 15:09

Oreo Have you tried Babyliss Big Hair?

You will not look back!

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 15:20

coconuts Grin I will do it, I just want to be prepared. Or maybe I'm just a wuss Grin

Just noticed how damaged and dry the end of my hair is. It's frazzled! If this stuff works, I will personally hunt down the inventor of this stuff (presumably I'll be travelling to brazil Hmm) and I'll be giving them a big kiss!

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 15:21

Hopasholic, no I haven't. Mainly because I naturally have big hair, so I steer away from any product which claims to give extra volume etc.

How does it work?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 14/06/2013 15:45

babyliss big hair was shit Grin

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 15:47

Grin just say what you really think coco

janmoomoo · 14/06/2013 16:00

Oreo - my hair is below shoulder length, fine but naturally wavy and prone to frizz up and go big and puffy. Its not curly, just wavy. I usually notice it wearing off after 10 weeks but by the time it is completely worn off and I get round to doing it again it is usually getting on for four months.

In terms of whether it is safe all I can say is my hair has never looked so good. Before I started using this stuff it was dry, brittle, split and totally knackered. I had decided I was going to have to have it cut shorter and give up the GHDs (noooooooo!). After the brazillian treatment the condition is massively improved. I think part of that is down to the fact that previously I had been using loads of silicone containing products to try and tame/improve it, which the GHDs were then basically varnishing on. I had been doing loads of coconut oil treatments, but because my hair was basically coated in varnish of silicones it wasnt doing anything. Now that is stripped off, it is calmed down and smoothed with the brazillian kit and I am using silicone free shampoo it is just so much better, it is real swishy girls hair! Loving it.

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 16:18

Cheers jan

I'd describe my hair as brittle, split and totally knackered too!

It's really interesting what you were saying about the silicone kind of repelling other treatments. I was having regular(ish) conditioning treatments at the hairdressers and on the day, I used to think my hair was transformed, but as soon as I washed it, I realised it was more about the blow dry, styling and serums etc. I don't have them anymore. Waste of time and money. Bit of a con I reckon.

I like the sound of swishy hair girls hair! I've got really long hair, but I greedily want even longer hair if I can achieve itGrin I'm hoping that with the Brazilian, I won't need to use heat on my hair at all and so hopefully, will be able to grow it even more. I'm aiming for waist length Hmm We'll see......

oreoaddict · 14/06/2013 16:20

*swishy girls hair even Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 14/06/2013 18:20

lol i like to give an honest review Grin

i bought the babyliss big hair on the mn recommendation and i used it a few times. im pretty good at doing hair but found it useless. i tied myself in knots with it and it didn't transform my hair or make me look remotely half decent.

Hopasholic · 14/06/2013 19:18

I agree it's tricky at first! I used it on dry hair to get a feel for it, but honestly it has worked wonders with my hair! My hairdresser thought I'd deflected when I saw her on a night out. I think if you have curly hair, it works really well. It does take time though, so I'm hoping that this Brazilian stuff means I can just wash n go on the days I don't want to style it.

Have you ordered some Brazilian yet oreo?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 15/06/2013 09:19

feeling a bit greasier today but nothing worse than usual. in fact it feels better than usual so perhaps it was my old shampoo that was heavy on.my hair. 24hours to go Grin

oreoaddict · 15/06/2013 17:14

Hopasholic, no I haven't ordered any yet. Will do though.

coco, looking forward to hearing your verdict tomorrow. Here's hoping you have beautiful, glossy, smooth , not flat, super shiny and conditioned hair! Smile
