hello and welcome!

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 16/05/2013 14:47

Thanks SC I've ordered the 32G in the non-lacy black so we'll see!

married My Panache Idina arrived today. Sending extra bra points your way you genius you! I ordered my usual 30GG and it's a perfect fit. Very similar uplift to the Juna but less bulky material. Three hooks too which I love. I think this could be the bra I wear for my show (lots of lifting and being turned upside down whilst still needing to show a bit of cleavage!)

KatyMac · 16/05/2013 17:06

Freya Rio - I couldn't fasten at all!
32H & 32GG

So back they go tomorrow Sad

Maybe the 34 in the Rio?

KatyMac · 16/05/2013 17:07

Is it true that black bras are smaller than white bras of the same style because the dye affects the elasticity of the material?

sparkle12mar08 · 16/05/2013 17:59

Yes, and I've found that navy is prone to that too!

itsMYNutella · 17/05/2013 13:38

Aaarrrggghhh hello, back for some more tips (you ladies are awesome and I thank you so much for your advice). My order arrived from bravissimo... Sadly there is waay too much cup on all the bras I ordered and scooping in a non wired bra seems pointless - stand up and feel it all move again!

So still on the search for a nursing bra that fits and a wired one if possible!

I ordered a mix of 34 and 36 and in black and in white.... The 34 white seems right and the 36 black seems alright... So should I orders range of sizes again just in smaller cup sizes? My boobs seem a bit lost in a G

itsMYNutella · 17/05/2013 14:10

Sorry had to put DS down for a nap....
Should I order smaller cup sizes still in a mix of cup sizes? And does anyone know how different wired and non wired sizes are in a nursing bra?

itsMYNutella · 17/05/2013 14:15

Sorry, I meant a mix of cup and back sizes....

ChunkyChicken · 18/05/2013 19:54

Seeking yet MORE advice I'm afraid...

If I go down the converting a bra route...

Can I convert the Bravissimo Alana?
What is the fit like on this one? Should I order a 30G and cups either side or go for different band sizes too?

I like the look, and the offer of some support. Not so sold on the fact a breast pad might show through the lace though but willing to try!!

Thanks again.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/05/2013 21:07

The Alana is fairly solid fabric. I wear my normal back size - it's possibly on the tighter side of a 30 but I don't size up. Cup size comes up small though - I'd go up one from your usual probably. Don't know about converting though as I haven't done it personally.

Bessie123 · 19/05/2013 00:28

32GG Shock

Where can I buy one of those???

sparkle12mar08 · 19/05/2013 08:42

Brastop.com, Bravissimo, Debenhams, John Lewis, most places really. It's not a hugely outlandish size (I'm a 30H!) but you'll probably have to order online so try and make sure you order from places with free returns!

TheCatcherInTheRye · 19/05/2013 11:47

I'm sure you've all heard this before, but I've never read these bra intervention threads before and I thought I was doing just fine with my bra purchases. For some reason just now I was tempted to open this woman's bra intervention question thread, and one thing led to another and I followed the link to someone's MN blog on how to measure myself and now I find myself sitting here in disbelief. I'm tiny. Please help me!

So the first under bust measurement should be snug, I come out at a 32 band size when I've been wearing a 34. That's not so off. I've found all the tips about how a bra should wear really helpful, that they shouldn't ride up, that the front middle bit should sit flat on my chest, etc., really brand new information for me! All good stuff.

But, of course, the second measurement, this can't be right. How tightly or loosely should I be measuring?

sparkle12mar08 · 19/05/2013 12:17

So what is the measurement? We're unshockable, I promise!

TheCatcherInTheRye · 19/05/2013 13:49

Oh! Thanks, I know it's going to be more of a shock to me than anyone else. I am small. I measured 38 inches, I've been wearing a B cup?????

sparkle12mar08 · 19/05/2013 15:00

So 32 and 38, yes? That makes you a 32 E by my reckoning. Underbust should be firm and over bust looser but not baggy, iyswim. 32E is still highstreet territory ime. How tightly are you measuring underneath? If you can fasten new 32's on the tightest hook you'll need to size down on the band and up in the cup to 30F's and FF's. So I'd start by trying 32E & F, and 30F & FF. Do a big order in lots of styles and all those sizes from somewhere like Brastop or Bravissimo where they do free returns. Be prepared to spend an inordinate amount of time (and money, at least till it gets refunded!) to find the right combo for you. I recently spent about £800 across two months and 40+ bras to find three or four that were great! 'S worse than jeans shopping, I swear!

Lambzig · 19/05/2013 16:32

Hello, can I please get you to help me too? None of my pre baby bras work (cups too tight, band too loose). I thought I was a 34C/D and M&S just measured me as a 36C, but that felt even worse and I have just lost 10 lbs, to make it trickier.

I measure 32 inches around the band and 37.5 inches at the fullest part (measuring bent over at 90 degrees, with no bra on, is this right?).

sparkle12mar08 · 19/05/2013 17:17

Lambzig, try the same as above, 32E & F, and 30F & FF! Given that you're a half measurement overbust you might want to try a 30E as well but expect that will be too small in the cup.

Lambzig · 19/05/2013 17:43

Thanks, sorry typing while wrestling a six month old which is why I didn't register it was the same as above. Cannot believe I could be an E cup!!

SorrelForbes · 19/05/2013 18:06

Honestly, an E in a 32 back isn't very big at all. My young niece (sixe 6/8) wears a 28FF and she certainly isn't big busted.

Bessie123 · 19/05/2013 21:47

Thank you sparkle, I will have a look. Incidentally, can I just check I have it right? 32 round the rib cage, 44 round boobs at 90 degrees. 32 gg, no? I tried on my old bra from before I lost weight, 32 HH, and the cups were a bit big but the band seemed ok. It was a bit sticky in on my sternum though, where the cups meet.

SorrelForbes · 19/05/2013 21:48

Hmmm, I'd say a 32HH on the measurements above. What are the cups on your current 32HH like, if you scoop?

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/05/2013 21:49

Bessie123 measurement suggest a 32HH but the cup measurement is always rougher. From the description I would try a 32H and 32GG and see how they fit. Remember to scoop vigorously - I find this is especially necessary after weight loss

pigleychez · 19/05/2013 21:54

Hoping for some help from you lovely lot.

Can someone point me in the direction of the post of how to measure properly please.

Ive probably been in the same size bra's for about 20 years, which im pretty certain is wrong! Had 2 kids since then too!
Lately ive noticed abit of overspill/4 boobs too which isnt a good look so this thread might be the kick up the bum I need to get it sorted.
Ive just started a new exercise regime too so with a new slimmer me (hopefully) and decent perky pair would be lovely!

TIA

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/05/2013 22:06

how to measure

Bessie123 · 19/05/2013 22:16

Hmm, I don't know that I scooped vigorously but the cup seemed big across the tops of my boobs. I think I will try again in the morning. Thanks for the help.
