hello and welcome!

OP posts:

You may need to re-scoop during the day (it can become a habit!) but a correctly fitting band will help keep the tissue in the right place.

KatoPotato · 14/06/2013 23:24

This is vair exciting. I feel my boobs have been squashed into the wrong size bra for so long they've taken on the shape dent of a misplaced underwire!!

SorrelForbes · 14/06/2013 23:45

It is excit

SorrelForbes · 14/06/2013 23:46

Oops. It is exciting. I am do

SorrelForbes · 14/06/2013 23:46

Balls. One last try.

It is exciting. I'm doing an intervention on a close friend tomorrow and I can't wait.

EMUZ · 15/06/2013 00:46

Don't know if anyone has seen that Parfait are expanding their sizing for A/W this year with 28 bands and up to a K cup Grin
The Charlotte bra will be one I'm watching for and a babydoll in a K cup - wow Smile

WeeNoggi · 15/06/2013 07:08

Any suggestions on anticipating larger sizes in pregnancy? I live in a third world hellhole developing country where packages sit at the post office for 3-5 weeks while they are opened & inspected. So I need to order something now and hope it fits.

At Bravissimo last May they put me in a 34H Alana which is comfy but getting a bit snug - starting to spill out of the cups and on the final set of hooks. I'm 7wks +2. One book has suggested buying a cup size bigger and a back size bigger along with some bra extenders to get more life out of them. Would you agree? To get me through the next couple of months?

HazleNutt · 15/06/2013 07:21

Wee yes, that might work, but people grow so differently. I know some who didn't grow at all and personally I went from 32FF to 36G almost immediately and then around 7 months, back to 34G.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/06/2013 07:58

Agreed Hazle, it's very variable. At around the same stage I went to Bravissimo and got fitted. She put me in a bra that essentially fitted but was on the roomy side - it's the only time to buy a bra which fits on the tightest hooks for example, and if possible one which has a little room in the cup. You might also want to consider something with a slightly more open/stretchy design (likes of the panache jasmine). The Alana is quite closed at the top of the cup so doesn't allow for expansion really - something with an open top might give you a little more flexibility.

PtCatalyst · 15/06/2013 11:43

Wow! Fast amazon delivery - got the 28D curvy kate tease me this morning having ordered it at 6pm last night! Unfortunately, it doesn't fit. Wires dig in at the sides and in the centre and there's still room in the cups.

I got the tape measure out again to check, and this time pulled the tape as tight as it would go underbust - got to 28" this time which would make sense, but overbust is still 33-34" (33" slightly snug, 34" looser). Is there a particular breast shape that means that the tape measure just doesn't work? And am I doomed to a life of bras just not fitting Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/06/2013 12:13

are you scooping?

OhWouldYouJust · 15/06/2013 13:45

OK so I'm 36 under bust and 43 over bust..... 36FF Shock ?

Just looking at curvy Kate bras on amazon!

RubberBullets · 15/06/2013 13:48

36F but try sizes around that

PtCatalyst · 15/06/2013 16:59

Yep, scooping as if my life depended on it! It makes a big difference, but not enough.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/06/2013 17:10

When you say the CK wires are digging in - are they just uncomfortable or do you feel like they are sitting on breast tissue (either in the middle or at the outside?

Just trying to work out what's up - by rights the 28D should actually be too small based on your measurements

PtCatalyst · 15/06/2013 18:10

Digging in to breast tissue at the side and uncomfortably digging in to my ribs at the front but still room in the cups Confused oh, and I could still pull the band out a couple of inches (but admittedly this was on the loosest hooks)

Sigh.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/06/2013 18:27

Hmmm, that suggests you need wider wires and would explain the issue - it's not that you are too small for the bra but that some of your breast isn't in the cups because the shape is wrong. Does that make sense? I'm guessing your breast tissue goes quite far round (i.e. the base of your boobs is quite wide) but you don't have much projection?

Unfortunately a lot of bra shopping does involve serious trial and error - some bras just never work. I have quite wide based boobs and Panache is my bitter enemy Grin but I get on well with quite a lot of Bravissimo branded bras and some Freyas (got on well with most of them when I was smaller titted!)

If you can, I would suggest ordering a variety of bras - unless you have somewhere good for fitting locally - from different brands and with different shapes. You also might want to order the 28D and DD. The wires on a DD will be wider and it sounds like you might need that. Bravissimo have recently started stocking a brand called Tutti Rouge which is supposed to have wired which are very wide, and quite shallow cups. Bravissimo own brand half cups might be an option, and I also find the wires on the Bravissimo Alana to be quite wide (and others too). Possibly also try some Freya bras.

EMUZ · 15/06/2013 18:59

Am in Asda. Girl probably size 8 has picked up some 34C bras to try. Dying to intervene Grin

bumblebeebag · 15/06/2013 19:50

Updating from another bra thread.... I was in a very wobbly B cup, now in a D! And I'm comfy, and filling it, and the evil back fat has pretty much gone. It is blooming awesome.

Hooray! And thank you bra ladies!

OhWouldYouJust · 15/06/2013 19:53

OK so I went to bravissimo earlier and despite being fitted down thread as a 36F or thereabouts they fitted me as a 36 DD.

Bra feels good but I have armpit bulges either side of the cup Sad. that's not right is it?

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/06/2013 20:26

It doesn't sound right ohwouldyoujust - Bravissimo are normally pretty good but they do sometimes get it wrong. Actually most times I've heard of this it tends to be the armpit - occasionally you might get a newish/timid fitter and they don't tell you to scoop firmly enough. If you try to do a good firm scoop you will probably have quad boob

OhWouldYouJust · 15/06/2013 20:28

Yep have quad boob on scooping Grin

Going to go to a different branch and get refitted and an exchange I think!

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/06/2013 20:31

Their customer service is great - even if its worn they will exchange when it's misfitted (it'll be on the system)

When you try the bras on in future, don't be shy - just lean forward, left hand in right cup and yank everything forward. Same on other side. They won't bat an eyelid but that should avoid this happening again as quad will be more obvious.

OhWouldYouJust · 15/06/2013 20:39

Thank you statistically Smile
Thats great that their customer service is so good Smile won't lose faith in them yet then!

Will make sure to do a good scoop when I go back on monday Wink

JustLikeHeaven · 15/06/2013 21:21

Jesus wept!!!!!! thought i was 36 D . . . . measured as advised and am 32FF. bloody hell. tried on a bra today and it fit like a glove. . . well the cup did . . . i think the band was a little too tight. kind of depressing having such huge knockers. I Want my perky ones back. thanks.
