Drywhite that's how I wear my red lipstick - liquid black eyeliner..... agree, too much make up with it looks wrong. I think it takes the people who are closest to us the most time to adjust to new things. Especially if they don't necessarily fit the 'role' they currently see us in. My DH is fairly tolerant of me and my fashion and beauty choices but he definitely prefers me with no make up on covered in mud in the garden i think!
I've had an arse of a day. Cooked a fab roast with great friends but DS had an EPIC monster tantrum over bloody duplicate Thomas the Tank engine toys. Ruined lunch for me! As a result I've drunk all the champagne we were having to celebrate DH's job and am now on the Cava!

Oh, and I wear red lipstick with base, mascara, brow pencil and blusher - no eye shadow or liner at all (because I have eczema rather than as a style choice, but luckily I like it that way!)

Thanks all for the lipstick help. I totally agree that it can look totally chic. I think kate rocks it. Wierdly dh doesn't mind the dramatic smoky eyes and the false eyelashes and he notices when my eyelashes need retinting so he knows I need mascara otherwise. I've just tried it on again and I'm wearing an old black tshirt and hair up and it does look better so maybe it's all the blonde hair around my face that cheapens the look?

i read somewhere that coral red,is best for blonds,think of betty draper red,and bluish red is best for pale dark haired women like dita von tease.i will look for the magazine as it has tons of shades of red for all skin tones/hair colors.

Evening all! V of all these glamorous-sounding weekends. I spent yesterday eve at Doncaster Races (on duty, not at all glam), but was treated to a nice lunch today by some new clients. Have a food baby now though and feel an early night coming on.
I have a challenge for you - can anyone find me a nice grey sweater - round neck,neat shape, cashmere acceptable, mid grey, not too light, not too dark? I appreciate it may be the wrong time of year to seek out such things, but the weather is so awful still and I spend alot of time outside and have a gap where a grey sweater should be. Also (just for fun) I'm having a whirlwind trip to Copenhagen next week - 24 hours in my favourite city and will be visiting one of my favourite Department Stores, Ilum. What would you bring back, bearing in mind I will only have carry-on luggage? Don't plan on spending a fortune, but I have never yet come back empty-handed. What should I definitely not pass up?

I must break the rules on red lipstick then Santa I'm dark haired and fairly fair skinned but can't wear the bluish reds. This one is good for me....

grumpy have you tried uniqlo? They don't tend to have cashmere in S/S but prob still have merino.

thats a pretty color shop i think the only people who can rock the bluish red tone are the very very pale,with jet black hair,.i tried the one dita wears,mac russian red,and viva glam and looked scary!,but my hair is a light-medium brown,so maybe thats where it got wrong.the only color that worked for me is estee lauder tango.
also it helps when you use a lip brush to apply the lipstick,red lipsticks are highly pigmented,and they look best when blotted.

The lipstick colour having any relation to hair colour/eye colour thing is a fallacy. It's all skin tone based.
