Oh dear. We're in a restaurant (dh just taken kids to loo) and I don't feel v well. Achey and sore throat. We are busy the rest of the day, really busy tomorrow and I am meant to be in Amsterdam on Tuesday and Wednesday.Shock I can't get sick!Confused

Drywhiteplease · 23/03/2013 14:12

novice it wii be fine. I always think if things go too smoothly then it's a bit boring! I'm hoping to get snowed in at the barGrin I hope you survive and get better before your trip.

libertychick · 23/03/2013 14:58

Quick wave to all.

Hope the party goes well Drywhite after the Trojan efforts to get there.

Novice at risk of sounding like a grandmother (this advice does come from my grandmother!!) gargle with diluted TCP - it tastes absolutely vile but it is a surefire way to stop a sore throat. Everyone I have ever passed this tip onto has thanked me for it!

Need to work on a list - black jeans, pretty white cotton blouse, some T's - plain and stripy, tan sandals, cobalt or green chinos come to mind.

BrandyAlexander · 23/03/2013 15:01

Thanks drywhite. :)

BrandyAlexander · 23/03/2013 15:07

Thanks Liberty! My dm says that so will try it too. I am that desperate.

Has anyone noticed how there are a lot of sales at the moment? Clothes that were put out on the rack last month are on sale already. Shock. Doesn't bode well for health of the country.

MarshaBrady · 23/03/2013 16:00

Try and rest Novice can you duck out of anything? Hope you don't get worse, .

I've bought loads at great discounts lately, but mostly from the outnet.

I've decided to keep the Hobbs. Have got used to the muted colour, and it is fine without anything underneath. I did think it was a jumper, but it's more a top. (that photo makes it look smaller than it is, due to the angle). It's very nice as it's silk / cotton / cashmere.

Drywhiteplease · 23/03/2013 16:28

Right....I'm going out now, I may be some time.......................Grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 23/03/2013 20:49

Gosh, it's quiet on here tonight! you must have all followed Drywhite's lead and gone off somewhere interesting. I'm sitting here in front of a blazing log fire, which sounds lovely (it is) but out of necessity as the bloody heating oil chose this morning to run out. Apparently there's currently a shortage and we can't get any until mid week. I bought a couple of 20 litre drums to tide us over, but as they're also rationed I'm having to be economical with it, so heating off now.Fortunately, racing abandoned today due to the weather, so have spent the day catching up on chores, which I didn't actually mind. Stinking head cold to boot, so just treated myself to a pair of gigis as I dream of days actually warm enough to wear them. My Maison Scotch cords arrived today too and I could not be happier with them. The colour is gorgeous and they are sooo soft and stretchy, they look and feel more like velvet than cord. They'd go so well with these - I'm feeling tempted...

Decameron · 23/03/2013 22:37

They are the sandals I ordered, Grumpy. We may be waiting a while to wear them. I like the cords. Stay warm!

Hope you made it and you are having fun, Drywhite.

Decameron · 23/03/2013 22:39

Gargling with TCP works for me too, Novice. Not pleasant though!

QueenCadbury · 24/03/2013 08:17

Greetings all from centre parcs! Can't believe you've all had such bad snow. The SW has obviously escaped it but it is freezing in longleat.

Loving the optimsm of you all buying sandals and bikinis. Summer feels such a long way off.

The only new thing I need is a black vest. I've worn my virtually every day for 6 months and now it's got holes in it. This is what I would normally buy but I'm sure they're normally longer than 64cm so it might not be long enough for me. I'll look at h&m too but otherwise any recommendations for a basic black cotton vest for a long body?

shopafrolic · 24/03/2013 10:16

Morning all! Hope everyone had good evenings.
QueenC I got my longer vests from H&M after recommendations on here. All the black ones are fine. Some of the white ones got sent back as were quite thin.
Am wearing my I&I green stripe cashmere sweater today with my ever present J Brand Sashas and Jo Whiley boots! Thermals are on! So cold. I love how zingy the sweater is, brightens me up when my mood is frankly awful. Shouted at DS twice already this morning. Need to lower the stress levels.....Off out for a roast lunch with friends so that will be lovely. Have good days all.

Doing my bit for the economy, I just ordered my Philip Lim t-shirt. It was the last one in my size and is therefore totally justifiable.

shopafrolic · 24/03/2013 10:27

Link please Amber! Sounds fab!

AmberNectarine · 24/03/2013 10:30

Bit of 90s grunge influence

Annianni · 24/03/2013 10:34

Do I buy some grey Hudson horrigans from office with the 20% off?

I've liked that style since last year, so is it dated now?

I also like the rosse and enke styles with the buckles on the back.

And I like the Ash jalouse in the wood ash colour.

I need some ankle boots, not been wearing my bowies or beas (must eBay one of these days)

What colour should I get?
Help please :o

I'd love some pistols or Jenny's but they're out of my price range Sad

Annianni · 24/03/2013 10:37

Love that tee Amber

Annianni · 24/03/2013 10:39

Hope you have a fab time QueenC

And that Drywhite survived her ordeal :o

shopafrolic · 24/03/2013 10:43

Love it Amber!

shopafrolic · 24/03/2013 10:49

Anni what a shame the Bowies and Beas aren't working out for you - it only seems like yesterday that you bought them. I love a Hudson boot! My favourite of the three you mention are the Enke (sp?!). I saw the Rosse in Selfridges and didn't like them so much IRL. Love my Ash Jalouse and Spirals too......not much help I know!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 24/03/2013 11:33

Anni out of the three Hudson ones, the Horrigan is my favourite.

Great t Amber.

Dh is a some work thing, how dull dull dull on the weekend. Much prefer to have him around. Waiting for him to get home so I can go get some eggs .

I am compiling a list for Spring, loads of stuff that I like have only one left in my size. Got a couple of project things (again!, the last few haven't been right, but these are looking better) this week, better happen so I can do the big shop.

MarshaBrady · 24/03/2013 11:36

QueenC have a fab time. I haven't been to CP! I imagine it to be like a wood hut that we stayed in on holiday in Aus. In the middle of the wilderness. Was nice, quite rustic. Food was terrible though for some reason, shame when surrounded by such beauty and fresh fish.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 24/03/2013 11:50

Morning all!
QueenC hope you're having a nice (relaxing) time, enjoy the lack of snow - it doesn't look like it's going anywhere here. I'm imagining still wearing duvet coats and fairisle scarves in July Sad
Love the T Amber. We do need to do our bit to encourage the economy to grow (that's how I justify everything I buy!)
Got to venture out in a bit to get more wood for the fire. I had a big builder's bag of logs kindly donated by our estate manager but the copious amounts of rain and snow have got into the bag and most of what's left is too wet to burn, so off to the petrol station I must go. It'll probably cost me the price of my new Gigis for 2 bags of wood there.

MarshaBrady · 24/03/2013 11:53

Grumpy loved those Maison Scotch cords, glad they are really good.

I have another £20 voucher, but will wait before using it.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 24/03/2013 12:00

Thanks Marsha. I do love them and I'm not normally a bright blue person, but the colour is so rich and flattering.
I'm a bit worried that I haven't received my Michael Kors watch from Asos. I had a text message yesterday saying it would be delivered between 11.47 and 12.47 (where do they get these exact times from?!) but nothing has appeared. Usually if they can't deliver I get another message to let me know and I was in until 1.30 (DD1 was in all afternoon) but nobody came. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll have to look into it. Anyone else had this problem?
