All of the other ones are closed now and I still need some help!

OK, you absolutely need to try a bra on back to front first to get the band size sorted. On those measurements, there is no way you will need a 34.

I would say to try 32DD, E, F and possibly a 30E, F, FF.

Try on a 32DD first. Put it on back to front. If it does up on the loosest hooks and you can only get a couple of fingers underneath it (or can only pull it away from your body a cm or two) then it's the right size. Then undo it and put it on the right way round (if you can easily swivel it round to face the front then it's too big). Scoop vigorously.

Going on what you've said above, I think you're going to need at least a 32E or a 30F. My DSis measures 28/35 and wears a 28FF.

Autumn12 · 17/04/2013 12:12

OK I will go and have a bigger trying on session. It would only do up on the loosest hooks and they were ever so slightly straining, not sure I could get any fingers underneath the band.

I am giggling at the idea that you think I may even be an E cup. I got measured at M&S years back and was told I was an AA cup so its quite a monumental leap!

SorrelForbes · 17/04/2013 12:14

It was almost definitely straining because the cup was much too small and your boobs were 'stealing' material from the band.

The big cup thing is always a shock but honestly a 32E isn't that big

SorrelForbes · 17/04/2013 12:16

Oh yes, forgot to say that a 34 band in a DD would be excruiating on me but a 30 in a GG is great.

Autumn12 · 17/04/2013 12:20

It is a shock but actually makes a lot of sense to me. I'm not big chested by any stretch but I've definitely got a little something going on in the boob department and always thought it odd that I should work out as a AA cup. To me that is little wasp stings ala Kate Moss!

SorrelForbes · 17/04/2013 12:22

Kate Moss is probably about a 26E Grin

Beksybob · 17/04/2013 12:34

You've made me google Kate Moss' boobs now. I reckon mine are something like that.

SorrelForbes · 17/04/2013 12:40

I've just googled too! She looks very similar in size to my DSiS (28FF), maybe a teensy bit smaller in the cup.

BuiltForComfort · 17/04/2013 21:11

Sorry if this repeats anything from above - I was re measured recently, now have lovely 34E bras. This was at a little boutique, v expensive bras so would like something cheaper in my new size.

But if I look in M&S or John Lewis either 34E doesn't seem to exist in any brand, or it's clear that the in-house versions of this size are not the same as the brand I'm wearing - massive massive cups for instance.

Is there an alternative, equivalent size I should look for in eg triumph, Calvin Klein or other brands? And do I just steer clear of M&S and JL labels?

AmazingDisgrace · 17/04/2013 22:03

Hi bra gurus..quick question: I love my Masquerade Rheas with all my heart, would the Curvy Kate Tease Me bras also do it for me? I've heard the band is big on them so if I need a 32FF in the Rhea what would be a good size in the Tease Me? 30G?

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/04/2013 22:10

Most decent brands should do a 34E, but many brands stop at a DD. Surprised you couldn't find them in John Lewis as they stock brands like Freya and their own brand goes up to a fairly decent size.

SorrelForbes · 17/04/2013 22:13

AmazingDisgrace Personally, I found the band on the 30G Rhea to be quite tight in band compared to the CK Tease Me. However, I still wear a 30 in both as a 32 in the Rhea is too big. Trickly one! I'd suggest ordering a 32FF, a 32G and a 30G to be on the safe side.

AmazingDisgrace · 17/04/2013 22:27

Hi SF, The 32 in the Rhea is snug but does give a little. After a few wears I'm not aware of it at all. Have it in 2 colours and on the hunt for all the colours in my size so enamoured am I. I love the uplift so much so I keep having a peek Blush I'll order the Tease Me in a few sizes then!

SorrelForbes · 17/04/2013 22:29

If you like the lift it gives then take a look at the Fauve half cups and the Ewa Michalak CH and CHP styles.

LikeCandy · 17/04/2013 22:38

I was fitted in John Lewis for nursing bras yesterday, I'm now a 32D/DD and have bought a HotMilk & Elle McPherson Intimates, both SO comfortable!

Big thanks to the poster who recommended I get re-measured, I guess I'll be throwing away the hugely uncomfortable 36Bs M&S fitted me for!

(anyone have any idea how long post birth it'll take for my ribcage to go back to pre-preg size, it's a good 2 inches bigger!)

ThePendant · 17/04/2013 22:58

Hi all

Can I share my bra buying experiences from today to see if they are typical?

I am a 32J as fitted in bravissimo. Love the alanas that they fitted me in a few months back, but fancied something new and happened to have a few hours spare in a town with both a Rigby & Peller and a John Lewis so thought i'd see if they could find me anything different.

JL was ok I'm that the lady clearly knew what she was doing and was agreeing that I was trying on the right size, but they only had 2 bras in my size and neither were doing anything for me. She even said that really I could do with a 30 back which surprised me as the last time I went in JL they had me in a 36G!

R&P was fecking awful! They only had one bra that came close to fitting me (32I a new size to me) and when I wasn't happy with that because it was really full cup and visible when I put my top back on she started desperately putting me in random sizes that were never going to work because "I can only work with what I have in the drawer". It was horrific and made me feel like a freak. I'm pretty much at ease with the way I look but she had me close to tears :(

EMUZ · 17/04/2013 23:00

I asked for a 32J in JL once and they laughed at me Hmm

I buy online now or find my own size in debenhams

ThePendant · 17/04/2013 23:08

That is shit EMUZ :(

I'm seriously thinking of writing to complain to R&P.
The woman was trying to help but clearly had no idea how shit she was making me feel.
And she couldn't give me a straight answer. I kept asking if she was having trouble because they were out of stock in my size or if these makes didn't go up to my size. I still have no idea which was the case. She just kept muttering about "working with what she had in her drawer". I even said "I'm really disappointed, I know I'm big but I had expected that you would have some choice to offer me". She just said sorry and murdered about her drawer.

I'm starting to see the funny side now :)

ThePendant · 17/04/2013 23:09

Murdered? Grin

Muttered!

Although maybe murdering her fecking drawer would have been a step in the right direction...

AmazingDisgrace · 17/04/2013 23:13

I have the Fauve Lucia half cup (love it) I've looked at Ewa before just not sure of fit? While I'm on can you think of a bra with similar fit that would work under thinner clothing. The Lucia does but the Rhea and I suspect the Tease Me have too much going on at the top and it shows under thin jersey etc

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/04/2013 23:21

AmazingDisgrace I think in your size a lot of Ewa's will be "standard" which means they are returnable. FWIW, I reckon my Ewa size ( I have the S, St and CHP styles) would be about the same as my Tempt Me size, maybe half a cup in it.

AmazingDisgrace · 18/04/2013 00:09

I'm very tempted by a few of the Ewa's. I'll go have more of an in depth look. I read a blog recently (sorry can't recall where) about Czech bras and there love of the "cakes on a plate" look. Right up my street obviouslyWink

SorrelForbes · 18/04/2013 00:13

I think that was a blog entry that I posted and it was about another Polish brand, Comexim.

AmazingDisgrace · 18/04/2013 00:13

EMUZ That is awful! R&P would probably be as appalled as you are. Definitely tell them.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/04/2013 00:13

I don't get full "cakes on a plate" with Ewas but that's more to do with the shape of my breasts than the bras - I don't have a defined start point, more breasts that taper right up to my collarbone. But they do put them very front and centre and up!
