All of the other ones are closed now and I still need some help!

Today I name and shame both Ann Summers AND Simply Be. Both of them measured me as a 40c. I have NEVER been a 40 band size in my entire life. I have never had to wear bigger than a 36 in any brand at any point in my whole bra wearing life.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/03/2013 16:03

onelittlelady, if these are recent experience fancy detailing them for the blog? I'm in the middle of studying for exams so short on time for mystery shopping! we don't write huge amount, you can see the previous ones on the blog, . no problem if you don't want to though.

OneLittleLady · 21/03/2013 16:08

It was today actually, I went to Ann Summers first and I showed her how my current bra (36E) was too big on the band and too small on the cup, she got out her tape measure, measured me and declared me a 40C. She told me my band was too SMALL which was why I could pull it away from my chest and that the E cup was clearly too big even though I was practically bursting out of it. An almost word for word copy in terms of experience in Simply Be.

OneLittleLady Please, please write these two fittings up for the blog Grin

OneLittleLady · 21/03/2013 16:10

Where do I direct my bra fitting musings then? Show me the way and you shall have reviews of their service Smile

Flibbertyjibbet · 21/03/2013 16:11

These threads made me soooo mad with m&s. their fitters should be sacked.

For years and years I have worn a 36a then after kids a 38b. After reading this thread I went and tried on some playtex 34E in TKMaxx and they fit like a dream. I look like a have dropped a dress size and my boobs face forward instead of being all at the sides!

I always wondered hwo M&S could fit you when they measure you OVER and existing bra.... which might be the wrong size and thus distort your measurements.

Its also made a massive difference buying a playtex rather than supermarket bras, the structure is so much better.

Never ever going to give anymoney to M&S bra dept again, I feel like they had all that money off me for absolutely nothing over the years.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/03/2013 16:22

the blog is [email protected] but if you pm tge sorry tales to me I will upload them tonight

SorrelForbes · 21/03/2013 16:24

SC I'm off on my hols tomorrow so may try and sniff out a bra shop (it'll probably be a VS) for a fitting!

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/03/2013 16:27

oh you must get fitted at vs that would be hilariously bad. Most of the big American bra shops are reputedly awful. I think nordstrom are the only one doing it kind of right.

OneLittleLady · 21/03/2013 16:31

Pm sent SC

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/03/2013 18:07

New reviews up thank OLL.

OneLittleLady · 21/03/2013 18:57

No problem. I'm still in shock at just how rude the sales assistant in SimplyBe actually was. I'm rather tempted to make an official complaint if I'm honest. she might as well have just laughed in my face and actually used the word fat.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/03/2013 19:05

Do complain. seriously, It's necessary, the companies are just not listening at the moment

Champagnecharleyismyname · 21/03/2013 19:17

Received my bravissimo Alana in a 32DD. I can see it fits well and I had a bit of redness under the strap and I was aware of it for some of the day IYKWIM. I do think it is the right size though.

I will keep it but I am not overly keen on the design. Can you lovely expert ladies recommend a softer design, the Alana is polyester and a bit scratchy.

I did have someone ask me if I'd lost weight today and I think it was down to a better shape. I'm still looking for somewhere to get measured properly.

Furball · 21/03/2013 19:27

I can't believe the revelation. I can't believe for yonks and yonks I've been wearing a 38C when a 36F fits so perfectly Confused

Thank you to all the bra guru's

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/03/2013 19:41

The Alana is quite a firm solid fabric which means it gives quite good support but you maybe don't need something as firm as that. I quite like Bravissimo bras in general.

Glad you are getting on well Furball!

Silverstar2 · 22/03/2013 07:14

Have ordered a Cleo Darcy heart print new from Ebay for £12.50!

HazleNutt · 22/03/2013 08:52

"She told me my band was too SMALL which was why I could pull it away from my chest" - see, even if you know nothing about bras, this just does not make any sense whatsoever Confused

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2013 09:28

It's nonsense isn't it hazle

OneLittleLady · 22/03/2013 16:34

Ladies, you may want to start bowing before me because I found it, the Holy Grail..... A MARKS AND SPENCERS BRA FITTER WHO KNEW HOW TO SIZE PROPERLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2013 16:47

bet you she was trained by someone else! Grin Grin

OneLittleLady · 22/03/2013 16:48

I don't know, all I know is she sized me by SIGHT. No tape measure involved.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2013 16:52

the one I saw used tape for underbust but did cup by sight unfortunately she clearly had no idea what to look for! did your lady get the size right do you think?

OneLittleLady · 22/03/2013 17:00

She got it spot on, 34F or 34G in some of their styles. Definitely an F in the fuller cupped bras and in the half cup styles a G! However, I have a slightly mis-shapen rib cage which means that the 34 band gave me a shelf like bulge underneath my bra. The band on the bra she brought me to try on fit perfectly in the 34F, I just couldn't ignore the shelf like protrusion. She suggested that for comfort, I might want to wear the 36 band in an E or F cup depending on the style of bra. I was very pleased because she actually listened to me when I told her what I was looking for and spent a lot of time considering the shape of my ribs and how the bras would make them look. No tape measure was even looked at while she was in with me.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2013 17:18

credit where it's due it sounds like you got a good fitter-from what I remember they don't do a ff so in brands that do you might find it is ff rather than g I think. I just wish they could do it right more often. I think we have had 2 or 3 reports of good fittings in m and s compared to literally hundreds of bad stories.

it's pretty obvious that it's their general training method though as the results, whilst normally wildly wrong, are pretty consistent! I think we worked out that the average is 3 backs too big, and 5 cups too small.
