Yippee for Marsha, dh and the courier.

I've ordered from Yoox, it's best to ignore the photos and just order a selection... lucky dip style.

I tried this Whistles linen top today, it's quite nice but very sheer.
And this Whistles animal print sweat which is lovely, but looked ridiculous on me.

These Hudson gia skinnys are amazing. I wore them today, with the grey whistles jacket and felt really nice. And they are a bargainous £75 on Amazon.
Dh was impressed too.

I think i've found the premium denim brand for me.
That's 3 pairs of Hudson's i've got now, and they just seem made for fat women cut for my shape :o

Love that tee Anni. And haven't tried Hudsons. Feel I have to try all the brands!

MarshaBrady · 06/03/2013 21:01

And thanks for support over MiH couldn't have done it without you all Grin

shopafrolic · 06/03/2013 21:29

Hi all - just back from Pilates and didn't fart! (JOKE!) No really, I didn't!
Amber PMSL - I've never been to Harrods in sale time - that I would not risk.
Marsha I am SOOOOO impressed. Genius idea - at least you've got the goods. Will you keep them or sell them? And well done DH - that's commitment to the cause!

MarshaBrady · 06/03/2013 21:36

hahaha Shop good one Grin

I'll do one more try on tomorrow. But I will probably keep them. They are a little bit more vanilla-ish than the Goldsigns which I really like. Am sure I can get past the ankle thing, plus the Goldsigns weren't that tight on the ankle.

Sleep did yours arrive?

shopafrolic · 06/03/2013 21:37

No sign of my jackets yet......

MarshaBrady · 06/03/2013 21:42

Oh no. Any emails re delivery?

shopafrolic · 06/03/2013 21:44

When I spoke to them they said they were going to post them by a registered service but it would have to be Royal Mail so I assume they're coming 2nd class signed for? Perhaps tomorrow......

Sleepwhenidie · 06/03/2013 21:47

Hi everyone - yay Marsha triumph over adversity in the form of white jeans, how very MNVogue!

Amber your comments re Harrods brought shudders of memories of trying to negotiate lifts etc with a buggy and getting hopelessly lost Grin. Great people watching in Knightsbridge tho, especially when the Arabs are in town in August, spending is ShockShock. I remember buying my wedding shoes in Gina and fully burkha'd lady buying 6 pairs in one go (why? Gina shoes all look pretty much the same no?!Grin)

Have to say I am a Selfridges girl, am with SantaMaria knowing it back to front Smile. Online wise, I feel the same as everyone else about MW, wish they could just get it that bit more right, love drooling over NAP and probably buy most from Matches and am a sucker for those lovely boxes!

Got my white Goldsigns today and am kind of pleased to say I prefer my Kookai ones (apologies, I think I recommended them as Gap a while ago). So back they are going.

Also got Monty, which I am completely in love with, it goes with everything in my wardrobe, will definitely be worn to death.

I got this top with Whistles voucher yesterday, it reminded me of this Marant top that my super cool friend (of fur coat at school gate fame...who, incidentally, I believe does aforesaid styling for Matches) was looking great in on the weekend. Usually I don't wear pattern or that kind of neckline but there's something about it, what do you think?

MarshaBrady · 06/03/2013 21:50

Fingers crossed for tomorrow. They did do what they said they would (and I was really anxious, not sure what to believe at one point) so think it will be ok. Really hope so.

Drywhiteplease · 06/03/2013 21:56

Oh Grumpy glad your J Brands were good. Mine just looked awful and the Rag and Bone are going back too.
I love online shopping, but not for jeans....think I need to go to a shop and have a massive try on.....also think skinny jeans make me look bigger than I am........may stick to a more straight cut, but will I look frumpy?
QueenC 40 is not too old to wear those distressed jeans!Shock
I have just realised that I've bought 4 pairs of shoes in the last 2 weeks....! Oops!

MarshaBrady · 06/03/2013 21:59

Sleep what did you not like about the Goldsigns? you're making me feel better about sending them back.

And Drywhite the Rag&Bone.. Just not right?

Sleepwhenidie · 06/03/2013 22:09

Hi Marsha, they weren't quite as tight as I would like (maybe I could shoehorn myself into the 25's Shock) and I also prefer a whiter white (call me Liz Hurley Grin). Finally, I thought the outline of the front pockets too obvious.

What I really need now is indigo skinnies so am going to focus on that. But to anyone looking for cropped, non-premium skinny jeans, the Kookai ones really are nice. Am going to see if they do them in a nice blue.

libertychick · 06/03/2013 22:43

Well done on the MiH retrieval Marsha!
QueenC I love browsing on the internet and often order as I rarely can get to the shops but I'm not good at it - I lack the all important eye for detail required and am often surprised at details I hadn't noticed in the descriptions or photos when the items actually arrive
.
But I did get to Whistles today and bought the same jacket as Anni. Love it! They gave me the 25% discount even though I didn't have a voucher with me.

Wore my MK trousers today and new loafers with dark blue Gap drop shoulder merino sweater, black and silver jewellery and black and silver stripe scarf. Really liked it all and had a spring in my step all day.

Question - you have £300 to spend in NAP - what would you get?????

scripsi · 06/03/2013 22:53

Had to give a bit of a work presentation today and wore a little zara blazer, some black 7FAM jeans I forgot I owned and a semi-sheer splendid t-shirt. Have received a notification that something I have been sent is at customs awaiting £22 from me. I know I haven't ordered anything from the US so I strongly suspect that this is a relative of mine in the US who wonderfully sends me clothes from her (frankly amazing) vintage stash as a surprise. BUT she never marks the package as a gift and it can get very expensive!

libertychick · 06/03/2013 23:01

Oh how exciting scripsi

scripsi · 06/03/2013 23:12

It is a bit of a mystery libertychick and it is so thoughtful, but I know that I am being charged some kind of tax on who knows what!

Really like the sound of your outfit today. I am probably going to succumb to some loafers.

libertychick · 06/03/2013 23:29

Yes the charge is a total nuisance - especially when you have no idea what for!
I think I will be wearing the loafers to death especially when they are broken in - little bit of rubbing today but wore with socks for their first outing.
Lucky you able to wear jeans to work - my work environment is not too stuffy but jeans a no no.

scripsi · 06/03/2013 23:41

The (very old) 7FAM jeans are a solid black straight leg, so they aren't too obviously jeans, though colleagues of mine all wear jeans (and various mad trends) though don't think I'd feel too comfortable in skin tight skinnies when presenting something.
What is your favourite work outfit libertychick?
Tomorrow I am going to wear a nude silk shirt (JCrew) and some khaki jeans. Am going to hit the sack as DC will be up before we know it (I think they can feel spring is coming).

libertychick · 06/03/2013 23:54

Current favourite is this cardigan with a black pencil skirt, polka dot tights, black courts or ballet flats depending on how much walking/standing I have to do, worn with a black diamante bib style necklace from Wallis for £5 and a mix of black and silver bracelets.

Tomorrow I have a lot of meetings so this dress in black with fishnets, these flats and probably a dark grey herringbone zip front jacket which I got from a charity shop for £10 recently. Jewellery probably the black and silver stuff I wore today.
Your outfit for tomorrow sounds good - chic and comfortable. I want another silk shirt, preferably off white.

Bed for me too - DD luckily sleeping well, may have something to do with the recent retrieval of the black out blind Wink

pickledsiblings · 07/03/2013 00:04

My, this place is getting busy Smile. Just chipping in with my opinions on Yoox - they do some fab discounts especially on footwear and free returns which is a plus. They do manage to make designer clothes look like they've come from a jumble sale though, absolutely no styling whatsoever. Agree with you all that the Matches styling is fab.

I ordered some silver blocks in the MW sale for £40 ish with postage, hope they're keepers. Haven't decided whether they're for me or DD yet (same size feet for the time being). Was very tempted by these SE snow leopard boots but really don't need any more boots as have already purchased 2 new pairs in the last few months. Still a few nice pieces in the sale.

Love that Whistles jacket Anni and liberty. Hooray for the MIH mission Marsha's DH. Always makes me smile to think that stands for Made In Heaven Smile. Decam, you must have the blue Prada bag (and then lend it to me). Great colours in that Whistles peplum top Sleep. How do you plan to wear it? Black trews? Shop, you must not have been doing it right Grin.

pickledsiblings · 07/03/2013 00:06

liberty, I'm following you on Pinterest now, hope you don't mind.

Drywhiteplease · 07/03/2013 07:01

Marsha the Rag and Bone were lovely jeans, perfect colour, quality denim with a lot of stretch but the style just made my short stumpy legs look shorter and stumper IYKWIM Sad

FrugalFashionista · 07/03/2013 08:14

Drywhiteplease Matches are currently featuring the return of the bootcut. It's such a flattering shape to most real women, keeps hips and curves in proportion, and Americans never stopped loving them. Most stylish women around here never gave them up either, they just started wearing them super-long and with pointy toes/ platform wedges.

Lots of ole bootcuts chez Frugal waiting for their return to prime time Grin. My mother taught me when I was about 5 that fashion has short (circa ten-year) and long (circa twenty-year) cycles. If you buy quality items, storage wisely, rotate things and do not gain weight and change shape, you can be always stylish and update looks with minor investment. Just ask my mother Wink

Currently reading "A Guide to Elegance" by Genevieve Antoine Dariaux from 1964. Lots of bijoux ("Alligator is strictly for sports or travel, shoes as well as bags, and this respected reptile should be permitted to retire every evening at 5 pm"). Track it down (at local library?) - she used to do accessories for Nina Ricci couture, and lots of sound advice. Forgive the long quote, but she directly addresses frugal fashionistas: "The less elastic your budget, the less you can afford to make a mistake. And so you should always keep in mind your financial limitations and realize that the purchase of an irrestibly attractive fashion fad may mean that you will have to wear tired-looking shoes for the next six months.... No woman has ever lacked elegance because of an excess of simplicity but always because of an accumulation of elaborate details or of ensembles that are badly co-ordinated or ill-adapted to the hour and the occasion."
