Great minds, as they say shop! I have literally just emailed you and then popped into the thread to see what you had all been up to! So sorry for the silence....had SIL staying for a couple of days and haven't managed near a laptop. Feel scarily out of touch!

shopafrolic · 16/03/2013 18:05

Ha! Psychic wine. All sorted.
My turn being ill now. Fingers crossed normal service will resume next week.......

winefairy · 16/03/2013 18:46

Playing catch up. Slowly. But before I forget.....

Get well soon to all the those living in a house of sick at the moment.....novice and QueenC and of course, shop. It's grim.

Loving that all the bargain Outnet cashmere was either suitable or swapped on here! I still wish I hadn't dithered on Anni's peacoat. So gorgeous. Keep imagining I could channel Audrey Hepburn in it. Ignores the fact would be more likely to channel Audrey Roberts. And Anni I bought those eBay gigi's you mentioned up thread. Grin

Sleep you looked fabulous in all the outfits. Which did you wear in the end?

I have been punishing myself for not getting Outnet anything by doing Shred level 2 and Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. Grin To be fair, someone posted photos of me on FB wearing QueenC's Davina dress in grey recently and I looked like a stuffed sausage so thought I should finally tackle that issue. Hadn't tried BFBM but am impressed so far.

Also buying more jeans. Went to TK Maxx with SIL and bought lovely Hudson Carly's for £49.99. They don't quite fit as loosely at and below the knee on me as the My Wardrobe styling. More like this. Love them.

MrsRadicchio · 16/03/2013 22:05

Hi all, back to lurking due to computer issues. On my phone which I hate typing on, soo slow. Good to hear outnet purchases have been good. I like the pea coat too, anni. Lol at chanelling Audrey Roberts, wine!

QueenBOObread · 16/03/2013 22:29

Well that was a mad couple of weeks at work, ugh. It is good to be busy, and all that, but only if it doesn't interfere with MNing and shopping!

Not much success with my RL shopping either. I ordered the Birger Odyssey jacket which Winefairy also had a thing for. Just a bit too much going on. I'm short and rather well-endowed on the cha-chas front, and much though I'd like to be able to carry them off I have never really got on with boxy jackets. Although I really do have a soft spot for the jacket, back it went.

I also took my own advice and it turned out to be rubbish. I'd linked on another thread to Hobbs' outlet section where they had some bargainous polyester free suits. Worth a try for a safe work staple, no? Disaster. Honestly, do not even bother.

Shiny, badly-cut jacket and unflattering enormous skirt.

Fuelled by shopping failure and having not had chance to shop for a couple of weeks, I popped into Question Air today. They have a really good selection at the moment. As my 3-year old played hide-and-seek behind the Anglomania rail and ignored the assistants' attempts to interest him in the fish tankBlush I enjoyed leisurely flicking through a very summery selection.

I came away with this Paul and Joe Sister dress "perfect for summer days with sandals" Grin which was a total impulse purchase and I hadn't even clocked that it is viscose. But it makes me smile and I think I'll get a lot of wear from it.

QueenBOObread · 16/03/2013 22:29

Oh, and I also did much umming and ahhring about a Katya Wildman dress and I would love some honest MN Voguette views:

Pros: great shape for me, especially my top half, gorgeous print. Would be perfect for a summer work do I have later in the year.

Cons: just one really. I have it in my mind that this is a dress bought by ladies of a certain age because it is so flattering and classic.

Will I resent it for being a bit too sensible?

Drywhiteplease · 16/03/2013 22:56

Haven't been on for a while.......popped to frugal thread and Pinterest addiction. Not much buying lie going on apart from a v cheap viscose but silk looking classic white shirt from La Redoute....really nice drapey fabric, not bulky under knitwear.
Ironic discovery....after the exhausting/exhaustive search for the perfect jean I have only found it hidden in my wardrobe and worn today ( to a One Direction concert with my dd...sweet, so young, sooo loud....the little girls that is!!)....-

QueenBoo I love the dress, if it suits you and flatters your figure than get it.looks like an "investment" piece to me and with regards "certain ageness", depends on what accessories you wear it with really.

libertychick · 16/03/2013 23:10

Was wondering what happened to you QueenBoo! The Kayta Wildman is lovely, as you say great shape and print - I agree with Drywhite the right accessories will keep it from looking too classic and I might be inclined to get it shortened.

Drywhite I saw your outfit today via the link on the frugal thread - you look great and the jeans are perfect on you. Is that scarf a recent purchase? I'd love one like that...

My I&I arrived today thanks to the lovely justasecond. It's great - so soft.

I had a flying visit to Brent Cross today. Bought this statement necklace. Will wear for St Patrick's Day tomorrow! Grin

Drywhiteplease · 16/03/2013 23:21

liberty it was H and M from A/W.....love the colour too and cosy, but mustn't stand near live flame as would go up in seconds (109%acrylic..ugggh)Grin
I wasn't sure about the jeans (stumpy of leg moi) so thanks for your kind comment, I'll wear them again.

libertychick · 16/03/2013 23:27

Your legs don't look stumpy at all Drywhite!! So either great photography or like most of us you are mildly deluded about your perceived flaws!! I have a black and white leopard print acrylic scarf from H&M this A/W that I have worn all winter Smile

Marsha I have pm'd you - possible caramel leather skirt option - dare not link Wink

BrandyAlexander · 17/03/2013 07:50

Morning all, happy st Patrick's day to the Irish Voguettes Smile!

It's been another tough 24 hours but fever appears to have broken with dd and am hopeful about ds. I call him my baby but he's 1 heading on to 2 so at the grown up end of babyhood Grin.

Interesting what the no nos are for everyone else. I have a long list of things that are no nos mostly driven by the fact that I am just under 5'2" (no to maxis, long skirts or other long dresses and coats plus unfortunately those lovely statement or chunky necklaces which all drown me), short waisted and booby at 28E (so no to smock/gypsy tops, empire line jumpers, those grandad/boyfriend type cardigans, boxy type Channel jackets which all make look frumpy) and hourglass shaped (so no to the straight up and down androgynous look, drop waisted dresses which all look awkward and unflattering on me). Oh and another no no while I am on a roll. If you're of norks, the "experts" always recommend wrap dresses. Tried them for years, totally no no for me as they draw attention to the norks when you're short waisted Hmm. Anything with bows, ruffles or lots of details around the chest area? No, just no. Crew necks are a no (mnv sweater would look hideous on me) and bigger culprit are polo necks (a look I had for a few years Blush). In theory the hourglass figure is meant to be the ideal figure HmmGrin

MarshaBrady · 17/03/2013 08:33

Ooh thanks Liberty will check it out!

And thanks Foxy, just quickly what's Cocosa like to order from? Returns etc are the a faff?

MarshaBrady · 17/03/2013 08:34

Anyone who has used them that is.

And has anyone got James Twiggy jeans are they legging-like? They look a bit thin, but may be the photo.

foxysocks · 17/03/2013 08:52

I've ordered twice and not needed to return so not sure marsha. I used to love my James boot cuts back in the early 00s!

MarshaBrady · 17/03/2013 09:05

Thanks Foxy, I nearly ordered them but forgot the password and had to get a new one, then they were sold out. I don't mind actually, I really like the Avedon ones I have and will just get the rip mended. (virtuous!)

Winefairy love those Hudsons and a good bargain.

QueenBoo great to see you, have been wondering how you are. Great Paul & Joe dress. Yes I think you could make it really work.

Drywhite great to see you.

Liberty love that necklace.

Novice oh yes I forgot, I absolutely cannot do wrap dresses. Probably the worst thing for me. Amazing I have anything left to wear really.

Topazandpearl · 17/03/2013 09:22

Thank you for the St Patrick's day wishes liberty and novice. La Fheile Phadraig Shona Dhuibh (bit rusty so not sure of the spelling!) to you all. All these years and I still sulk at not getting a bank holiday...
Wrap dresses do suit me (34G) but I overdid them and felt that everything I had looked the same. I'm giving them a break at the moment, but maybe it's time to have another go (goes to delve in the back of the wardrobe).

BrandyAlexander · 17/03/2013 09:33

Hi Topaz, you must be long waisted or in proportion top and bottom? It stupidly took me years to work out that when your torso is short a deep V created by a tap dress is a bad idea!!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 17/03/2013 09:39

I have just ordered Anni's Gryphon peacoat from the outnet clearance, they had one left in my size so I grabbed it. Eek feel a bit lucky, but will see how it is. Will return the Bruno one if it's better.

BrandyAlexander · 17/03/2013 09:48

Oooh that was a nice coat Marsha, good one!

MarshaBrady · 17/03/2013 09:48

Thanks pure pot luck!

Marsha raising head off deathbed to say I've got Twiggy's
pinterest.com/pin/122230577358869787/
and
pinterest.com/pin/122230577358521783/
not legging like - definitely denim - thicker than my J Brands but super soft......

AmberNectarine · 17/03/2013 10:03

Yep, I can do wrap dresses too (30F), but I have a reasonably long torso and short legs. I can't wear crew neck cardigans and I have to be careful with high necks. I also look a prize knob in anything frilled/floral/boho, because it is so not my style!

MarshaBrady · 17/03/2013 10:12

Yep no frills here either!

Thanks so much Shop those photos looks great. Much better than the Cocosa ones. Will see if any left in my size. Really hope you feel better soon.
