All are welcome to chat style and beauty on this thread!

Thanks ladies. Yes frugal it is the davina. I only wish I hosted such glamourous cocktail parties so I could wear it more!

Sounds like I may need to invest in some new shoes to wear with it Grin but I'd rather do that and wear it more than have it sitting unworn in the wardrobe. Yellow is definitely not my colour ( though maybe hopefully will tell me different! ) but I like the idea of green, grey or navy.

Topazandpearl · 10/03/2013 08:18

I have the davina in red and recently dressed it down with this biker jacket, black opaques and black ankle boots. I don't wear it loads but it has earned its place in my wardrobe as something I know I can turn to when I want something dressed up.
I've never felt I don't fit in here despite not having a massive budget but I think I can learn from the other thread too!

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 08:29

This thread is definitely for anyone who loves clothes, no matter if it's buying lots or choosing with great care. Then people can always do both anyway. I'm an mnver at heart too, as I do love a good link.

Ah Novice not there, only goes back to 2010 must have been just before then. I remember making the order. Actually going back through old orders is quite funny. Some clangers in there, that I'm so glad I didn't keep.

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 08:30

Frugal I'm always thinking about ways to wear new outfits too, and would happily plan an event just to wear the dress!

shopafrolic · 10/03/2013 08:41

Happy Mother's Day fashionistas! I am in bed eating croissants while listening to DH attempting probably his 10th ever dirty nappy with our 2yo DS!
I can't see links at the moment but I am watching the Frugal thread with interest. Despite my current circumstances it seems to be more for those who want to shop less, or do it for emotional reasons etc. This was totally me five years ago but I am very clear about my shopping and my budget now (20 yrs ago I was in debt over £20k)!! So think I'll lurk and occasional comment if I feel I can help but stay where my heart is if that's ok! I too really enjoyed the way you put outfits together for me and would happily do this for others.
I can't see links on my phone at the moment but I love shoe boots. I have a black pair from LKB with a block toe which has gold hardware on it and a v high heel with gold at the tip. They are my go to for night's out with the girls. I am more a boot person than a shoe person. I've never tried them with dresses though, might be too fierce.
The film was a good distraction (Wahlberg had a bath scene) and a reasonable story line. Zeta Jones had a great wardobe as mayor's wife, some fab oversized multi strand pearl necklaces.....
For those that like a grey sweatshirt there's a lovely one with what looks like a lace print from M&S Limited Collection on the All Worn Out blog today (will I be banned now for M&S and NEXT in 24hrs?
Love to all. And a special hug for Foxy who I hope is feeling brighter.

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 08:44

Lovely new dresses Novice the red is fabulous isn't it? Looking forward to hearing which of your lovely bags and accessories you style it with. (bad sentence but too early).

Lovely cards here, one with thank you for making me live! which made me laugh.

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 08:47

Shop you must stay Smile. Hey it would be awful if we felt we had to get off thread if going through a budgeting phase. It's just nice to have people here for the chat.

Sleepwhenidie · 10/03/2013 09:32

Morning everyone, happy Mother's Day Thanks! My lovely MIL managed to keep my DC's downstairs from 6am until 9 when they came and woke me with tea and a croissants and some lovely cards and pressies. So sweet. Think I am feeling a bit better, the aching and shivering seems to have passed, just a very sore throat and chesty cough now. Foxy are you feeling better? Sorry for early risers! Not on today!

I love that red dress Novice, my favourite colour (not that you'd notice from my board!), closely followed by purple - QueenC, yours is gorgeous too, very Roland Mouret! I think Frugal has some great ideas with it and would also love to see Topaz's take on it. It is definitely a classic go-to for more formal occasions if you don't work though, but that doesn't make it a bad investment, it will last for years. Just what I could do with for this dinner with DH next Friday in fact...really struggling with this and don't want to buy something. I may have to try on a couple of things and post pics for your views later...

Love the jersey bikers being posted, I thought of the Baujken one immediately when yellow was mentioned but agree that it is expensive and likely to date, not a good combination. The ounet one is nice. I bought the grey jersey Whistles blazer with grazia code and am pondering it..can see how useful it should be but not sure if it really goes with the rest of my wardrobe...a friend of mine has a fantastic grey flannel blazer from McQ that I covet madly, looks great with jeans, but is a few years old. I think I maybe want something more like that, just a little more structured. Tried on an amazing Jil Sander version in TKMaxx recently but that went too far on the structured front Grin.

I don't have any purchases planned for a bit, not on a ban, just nothing I probably can't wait for the sales for. Am planning on staying to enjoy all of your chat and links though.

Marsha Grin @ making me live!!

Annianni · 10/03/2013 09:41

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 10:26

Foxy I love that scarf, it's gorgeous! And the whole outfit, and the bracelet. Bravo. Glad you're feeling a bit better.

(whispers also see that it was pinned a week ago, well done to dh/dc for getting the perfect thing! Grin)

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 10:28

Sleep pleased you are feeling better, the McQueen one does sound good.

foxysocks · 10/03/2013 10:32

i know marsha, he asked for a look at my board last weekend when I was showing him the (hidden) ones that i'm doing for a few friends. i pointed out the scarf and bracelet specifically and figured the scarf would be more likely! am so happy, it fits right in to my wardrobe, pulls loads of outfits together and i adore star print.

I might wear it with this top tomorrow, and the same grey goldsigns have on now (presuming they stay clean!) pinterest.com/pin/250231323017921971/

shopafrolic · 10/03/2013 10:44

Foxy gorgeous outfit, gorgeous gift - well done DH
I got the other edition of Nigel Slater kitchen diaries which I love, a home made cupcake (from nursery) and a lovely card.
Have fab days all x

LeFreakCestChic · 10/03/2013 10:54

Looks like mothers day is successful so far fashionistas? I've got a couple of hours to myself to read the Sunday times and paint my nails which is rare. DS1 ( 13) left me lovely messages on the stairs to point me in the direction of breakfast and papers as they are all out- he's the soppiest teenager I know and long may it last!
Can any of you help me out? I'm looking for a Polka dot shirt- bought an Asos one but it's 100% polyester and would rather have cotton so that'll be returned ( in the snow & rain today). Have you seen any such thing on your t'interweb travels?

Love the grey scarf foxy

foxysocks · 10/03/2013 10:56

yes i have definitely seen polka dot shirts, maybe chinti and parker ones on sale somewhere?

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 11:09

LeFreak this J Crew polka dot one is really nice.

Annianni · 10/03/2013 11:13

What does everyone think of this navy coat?

I quite like it, but i'm not sure of the brand iykwim... The price is ok.
Not seen anything similar, without spending more.

I want a navy jacket or coat for Spring/Summer.
I've got a thin black one, but the colour drains me.

Annianni · 10/03/2013 11:15

That Jcrew one's nice.

I may have accidentally bought a star print scarf from Donna Ida, that i've been thinking about all week...

I'm blaming Foxy :o

Annianni · 10/03/2013 11:16

Scarf

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 11:47

Anni love the scarf. Am not sure on the coat, it could be good, but not sure about the collar.

LeFreakCestChic · 10/03/2013 12:18

The j crew is lovely, thanks marsha. saw some other tempting things while browsing too- is there a code kicking about? think will return the Asos one, it looks and feels cheap.
Hideous weather today and don't feel springy at all. Will be bundled up in big duvet coat to do the shopping...

AmberNectarine · 10/03/2013 12:46

Kids got me some Lindt, Florabotanica perfume and years subscription to Grazia. Well, DH did, the kids are just eating the chocolate, but the thought was there.

Have had a spending free weekend as I left my bag at my parents' house on Thurs. Most worryingly I didn't even notice its absence til my dad called me yesterday! Am looking forward to the arrival of the Chan Luu scarf and YSL ring this week though!

Russianred · 10/03/2013 13:11

Was just having a little look on here for the first time in a really long time and wanted to thank Foxy for the lovely scarf link. DH did homemade cards and breakfast in bed this morning and told me to get something I wanted, feeling badly about being neglectful (not that i minded...). So the scarf came as perfect timing. Gorgeous.

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 13:33

Hi Red! It's a great scarf. Am so close to ordering, but not that great at wearing scarves, but so lovely. Best not think about it too long.
