Really lovely foxy. Great find! Loving the colour and detail.

foxysocks · 09/03/2013 21:57

thanks all, and anni - no WAY! too funny.

i had £30 of account credit with the outnet so it was only a smidge over budget. I am very happy and cannot wait to try it on. have been dreaming up outfits already! DH away for work from early monday morning till late friday night so a nice little delivery will brighten my week. Smile

BrandyAlexander · 09/03/2013 22:01

I bought a dress from oasis today. Bird print, very 40s demure style. Can't find it to pin but will be lovely with orange cardigan to pick up orange hints from the birds.

Also, i bought this Austin reed dress for work, plus black AR collar dress and these AR grey trousers which I am hoping will go with this kaliko cowl neck top. I love thus top and have tried it with black trousers which doesn't work and with beige which also doesn't work. AR do free returns so i will be straight back to the post office if its the wring kind of grey.

Of course Shop you are next on my list for a jumper

Amber - do you want to pop around here and sing to DD then ? ?Piano man? 8 times tonight before bed Grin
Winefairy it was slightly too chilly today for the Lena but I was itching to wear it and I was mostly indoors running around the shops. Coat will be back out again for the next week looking at the forecast.
Foxy Your biker jacket looks great. I like the look of this Hush one too
Novice I think navy might be best colour with the Kalico top. Love the collared dress ? went to order it and it was gone in a 12 ? typical! The red is lovely too. I really don?t need more work clothes?
Good news on the Gap purchases QueenC

Annianni · 10/03/2013 06:22

I started writing that there was a grey biker jacket on the outnet and that I thought it was Rag & Bone.

But I then looked on the outnet and got distracted Blush

By the time I looked properly, there were only large's left... so you must have ordered it anyway.

I'm waiting for that Hush one Liberty, my local sorting office is holding it hostage. Hopefully I can collect it tomorrow.

Ds2 keeps pulling my hair, i'm not amused at being awake this early on mothers day!

QueenCadbury · 10/03/2013 06:34

anni I'm also up this early on Mother's Day whilst dh sleeps Hmm

foxysocks · 10/03/2013 06:51

Am awake too, period pains woke me up (guess I now know why yesterday was so hard, huh?!)

Anni I put the last XS on hold with them and after a few hours deliberation decided to order. Might not have been five days as suggested on Frugal thread but hey, that's considered purchasing in my book!

Also the more I read that frugal thread the less I feel I fit in. I stick meticulously to my budget, don't have tons of clothes and never buy to fill a psychological gap. I just love planning my outfits and hunting down gems. Think I'm an MNVer at heart.

QueenCadbury · 10/03/2013 07:06

foxy I've been wondering the same. I really should buy less so that we can save more but what I do buy now is always considered and i rarely buy something on a whim. Since giving up work I've finally figured out what I need for my lifestyle and I'm a lot stricter and will only buy stuff that I'm happy to have covered in snot/weetabix. I still have a few things saved for best ie going out in the evening but these do all get worn frequently so they're not just languishing in my wardrobe. So yes, I'm more at home here even though I don't have the budget of most of you!

QueenCadbury · 10/03/2013 07:11

This dress is the one thing that does languish in my wardrobe and rarely gets worn. It was bought for dc3 christening and I've worn it on one other occasion since. I absolutely love it and it so flattering. I don't have any occasions coming up that I could wear it to and I think I'd feel overdressed f I wore it out as we only go round to friends for dinner or local restaurants. Any ideas how to style it without feeling quite so overdressed??

foxysocks · 10/03/2013 07:16

I am obsessed with grey so would pair it with grey opaques, grey jalouse and new biker I reckon. Lovely dress.

BrandyAlexander · 10/03/2013 07:17

Morning all! Yes up here too. Thanks dcs Hmm. Have been giving their cards and they're getting a small dose of milkshake as a treat while I MNGrin.

I have lurked on the frugal thread as I thought they might be doing more styling like we did with Shops cream jeans but I think it's still getting going. They all seem to be/come from a very different place from me. I have spent most of the last 4.5 years in maternity and breast feeding friendly clothes. Stopped feeding mid summer and didn't want to go back to my pre-dcs because my style has changed. The accessories are what have kept me going in the last few years! GrinGrin

I love grey too and I never thought of that combination. Thanks.

BrandyAlexander · 10/03/2013 07:32

I love that dress QueenC. Just checked its still available

Okay focusing on you.....I would still wear it out to dinner but maybe with a belt, ballerinas and a cropped cardigan. I agree either grey or go the other way and have yellow accessories ie, belt, shoes and cardigan. I think the yellow would dress it down because its a fun colour.

FrugalFashionista · 10/03/2013 07:41

Morning ladies!
I've been following your talk although busy with the other thread so it seems that both of the threads are doing well. Win-win? Grin

And loving the vibe here too!
QC your dress (Davina no?) is a classic and will not date quickly. In my opinion, every woman needs a slightly more formal dress for things like cocktail parties, imprompu invitations, family celebrations, visiting elderly relatives, going to good restaurants etc. It's okay if you only use it a few times each year. Today is Mother's Day, wear it for lunch and have some family photos taken?

I know I'm much more formal/classic than many of you but I wear dresses like that all the time. When it's warm I wear them with bare legs, flat shoes (this summer's pointy toe or kitten heel look in a contrasting color - yellow, emerald green? Or the demure nude or maybe a sling-back or an espadrille), and a chunky bracelet (to give it some edge, think about budget versions of the classic Hermes collier de chien bracelet). And a tiny bag if going out. The dress has a lovely silhouette and hiding it with a cardigan/ jacket is a shame, but of course you can do that too.

I also try to create opportunities for myself to wear the nicer stuff (going to gallery openings, cocktails at home etc) to offset the monotone of SAHM/working from home life. In fact just about to do an hypermarket run from hell because we are arranging a big party at home later this week and need to get the drinks etc (dinner parties too fraught - cocktails much easier, and friends like them too because they can go home early and it's not such a commitment). And going to a party in a boutique tonight. (Not a shopping party thank god - my sideline in perfumes has occasional nice perks Grin)

Lots of ladies here have the Davina. How do you style yours?

MarshaBrady · 10/03/2013 07:58

I love the dress QueenC, the colour and shape is great. It could work well with flats and a very stylish friend wears it with high suede shoeboots which would be a dramatic alternative.

I have some Vanessa Bruno navy suede ones and have worn with a party dress when I wanted to feel less formal it does change the feel of an outfit.

So shoes, go with changing those, as it's so nice be good to wear more.

BrandyAlexander · 10/03/2013 08:00

Ooh shoeboots. I have been coveting those for a while. Managed to resist though as I thought it was a trend that wouldn't last. Great idea!

I've worn mine only a few times really must wear them again! The night I did wear them was a great one so maybe good vibe shoes.

BrandyAlexander · 10/03/2013 08:06

Please can you link yours Marsha? Drool.

They were an outnet speciale, will see if link still lingering on account. I was thinking about ebaying as they don't get worn much, but talking about it has made me think about how to wear them again. Good going!
