All are welcome to chat style and beauty on this thread!

OP posts:
winefairy · 08/03/2013 13:02

Been a bit quiet since I delurked as DD has a tummy bug but rest assured I have been loving all the links and lists as always.

I have been buying more than usual as it's that fatal combination of last sale reductions and must have new stock. To be fair, more sale than new stock at the moment! I also find it quite difficult to find clothes that are just right so when I see something I rarely dither. I work in the music industry although mainly from home and unseen (trying not to out self) so can wear whatever I like PJ's however when I'm with people they are often almost half my age and I would feel uncomfortable if I looked as if I was trying to compete. It rules out things I may have considered, the Ash Bowies being an example.

I have been shopping while tending to DD, of course. The mention that bootlegs are back inspired me to buy these Victoria Beckham jeans and a very plain t shirt for wearing under all of these patterned jackets I'm accumulating! Interestingly, Yoox seem to selling the same t-shirt elsewhere on the site for £120 more. The same or almost identical.

And apologies for the long, dull post Blush

Annianni · 08/03/2013 13:10

Lovely jeans Winefairy.

Nice ring Amber.

Did those jackets turn up Shop?

Hope you have a nice lunch Marsha.

I love your wardrobe Sleep.

Great coats Frugal.

Annianni · 08/03/2013 13:17

This thread has made me start buying premium denim.

All 4 pairs of jeans have been bought heavily discounted though.

And it's made me realise that I do have a uniform as such, and to concentrate on that.

I am at home during the day, so I don't need suits, dresses and heels. (no social life either) but what I do buy, seems to be working with what I already had.

And whoever invented pinterest is a genius.

winefairy · 08/03/2013 13:24

And, yes, Marsha. Hope you're having a lovely lunch!

AmberNectarine · 08/03/2013 13:25

Marsha my aunt used to be a buyer for YSL, my parents had loads of freebies, and then the selfish cow gave it up to have kids. Still annoyed 18 years later.

I'm not interested in being super frugal. I'll be a long time dead and I have no desire to be the richest corpse in the graveyard.

shopafrolic · 08/03/2013 13:33

Oh Anni I went to Sainsbury's - DH was at home (he works from home) but he was on a call with solicitor when the doorbell rang so I'll have to rearrange delivery. SO frustrating.
winefairy are you Simon Cowell's secret wife? Grin Great bargain on the jeans! I love classic, simple things. However I also have a penchant for grey sweatshirts and Ash Bowies! Am wearing the quilted Whistles sweatshirt here and J Brand Sashas and prune Bowies. If I could I'd be buying a pair of trousers similar to the ones on that picture. But I can't. Bum!
I like the look of the & other stories site Decam - scared to browse for fear of wanting to shop!

winefairy · 08/03/2013 13:41

I've tried to always buy premium denim and whenever I break that rule they never get worn. I have a drawer full of Gap jeans, bought when they do the 30% off promo, all still languishing fully tagged. I never learn. I should eBay the lot.

To be honest I do spend most of my life in denim though which is a fairly depressing statement! My job is very social although even then it rarely requires anything more than a good pair of jeans and a dressy top.

There has been a lot of great deals on jeans though recently what with The Outnet and Dona Ida sale. All too tempting. They need to be heavily discounted for me too though.

winefairy · 08/03/2013 13:44

And Grin at Simon Cowell's secret wife.

Annianni · 08/03/2013 13:45

Oh bum shop, it's annoying when that happens.

If I had that credit liberty, i'd put it towards a nice bag.
Lucky you Envy

Annianni · 08/03/2013 13:47

Are you Jo whiley Winefairy? :o

shopafrolic · 08/03/2013 13:48

Stop now - if we out people they leave!!!
Winefairy EBay is great for GAP jeans. I got more selling GAP ones that 7FAM!

MarshaBrady · 08/03/2013 13:57

Lol you guys are cracking me up Grin.

Winefairy love the VBs.

Amber love that. You are young I'm imagining you were 8 when you were pissed off about that Grin.

So what happened to Yves? I have no idea if he's long time gone or just recent.

Lunch was superb although a lesson on how to kill £80 in an hour Shock so indulgent. I am still here with champers dh has gone. I may start telling you how great you all are soon (in the afternoon!). Just the sort of place Jo Whiley would be bet she's here.

foxysocks · 08/03/2013 13:57

hello hello! anni I SCORED in whistles/JL with the last cobalt blue seam back tee in an 8 so am super happy! thank you again x

also tried on a ton of bretons - the khaki whistles one (very thick material which would limit it's use, i think), the navy whistles one which i liked a lot, a blue maxmara, pink maxmara... all nice but none so nice i HAD to have them. so i didn't Smile

and the funniest thing was my phone beeping as i was waiting to pay with a PN from marsha checking i'm not leaving the MNV thread to be frugah, rotfl. as IF.

however, i am aware my budget is a lot smaller than some of yours and although DHs job is very secure he does it for love not money, so anything i buy has to be worth it.

today am wearing distressed straight leg diesels that are slightly too big, rolled up a la boyf jeans, white vest, rust breton (m. dutti), ash virgins in camel. with charcoal cashmere wristwarmers and battered old mulberry elgin. felt nice, relaxed, good for running around the shops with my boy.

have a lot of my march budget left and am enjoying considering where i might spend it thanks to this thread, pinterest and all you lovely ladies Grin. white jeans, leopard ballerinas, and some REALLY good quality basic tees are all up there. SUCH FUN

MarshaBrady · 08/03/2013 14:00

Foxy you are so funny you gotta stay Grin

Actually hope you all do. Who cares about the £ it's the ambience (man)

winefairy · 08/03/2013 14:05

If you managed to out me you would be sadly disappointed. And more than a little nonplussed Grin

Will try and get my act together to eBay, shop. Also have not one but two pairs of the Kurt Geiger Pistol-a-likes unworn and still boxed. I'm an idiot. I bought the brown, deemed them too heavy looking and so then bought the tan. As if that would help. Should have eBayed them and bought the genuine Pistols. Or just given it up as a bad idea.

foxysocks · 08/03/2013 14:05

aw thanks marsha! i really like all the MNV ladies, this thread is aces.

sorry about all the typos on previous post, must learn to proof before posting

i like the look of this breton but dry clean only, wtvf? that's not going to fly with a 5 + 2 yr old. do you reckon it would be ok on a handwash or do you all following washing instructions to the T?

www.net-a-porter.com/product/346864

shopafrolic · 08/03/2013 14:12

What size are the KGs winefairy?
Foxy Good shopping, and good walking away!

winefairy · 08/03/2013 14:19

Size 40, shop. Who knew Jo Whiley had such big feet, eh?!

Decameron · 08/03/2013 14:19

Foxy, I would handwash that.

Anni, yes to premium denim. :) Though I have one pair of skinny jeans from Zara that I love. They are such a great fit that I ordered a second, identical pair, which looked hideous on me.

Amber, I need a blog entry please, want to see the leopard print coat!

winefairy · 08/03/2013 14:21

Disclaimer: Before the real Jo Whiley storms in, that was a joke

FrugalFashionista · 08/03/2013 14:31

Hi ladies, I really did not want to set up a competing thread. This thread is about the joy of new purchases and discoveries and perhaps more h/e stuff. The other thread is about limiting spending, staying on budget and looking stylish on a zero budget (and linking limited for now). I think the building aspect vs the downsizing/limiting aspects are quite difficult bedfellows (can't say the frugal vibe really took off here, tried it but it really didn't work plus I don't want to rain on your parade), hence the need for a separate space. But people can float in and out and membership of both threads is possible too.

And I can dip in with some Mme G quotes/ Kenzo ooh aahing every now and then if you still want me Grin

Peace, love, air kisses and ostrich feathers...

MarshaBrady · 08/03/2013 14:36

Of course frugal you're always welcome! Everyone is and can do both.

Be great to see you for the quotes / style and I'll check out the other one too looks good.

shopafrolic · 08/03/2013 14:38

Of course we all want you Frugal

AmberNectarine · 08/03/2013 14:56

Ask and you shall receive decam.

I am wearing Tibi lobster sweatshirt, black James Perse tee, Goldisgns and cobalt high top converse. No intention of leaving house!

Decameron · 08/03/2013 15:04

Fab, Amber. I love leopard print.

Yes, of course, Frugal!
